When I fished with a buddy a while back he said the exact same thing about why he appreciated Robert's videos. They aren't "catch a tarpon on a chicken nugget" type crap. They're truly an adventure, where rather than a guy producing or pretending or editing to be someone he's not, he's kind of this modern day James Audobon or Meriwether Lewis. He's just on this adventure, documenting amazing things, often with his buddies, as John James and ML did. One day, maybe he'll come troll or wade for crappie and shoot quail and hogs and pheasant in Mississippi!
Yeah they are, and they can get pretty big. But the Florida ones are biggest. Good thing about the Pacifics is you can eat them, they don't get ciguatera
Nice to see you at my home town, Robert. Thanks for hook and ring tip, I'll have to try that next time I go fishing. On the Barracuda you shouldn't hold it if letting it go, the slime protects it from the ocean Bactria. I fish San Clemente Island once they also have great rockfish fishing, huge reds and other bottom species.
Guys such an inspiration to me, only 16 at the moment but got my dream sponsorship with strike king, lews, Salmo and fox rage, pretty much due to this guy I haven’t stopped learning from you! Keep it up
I'VE GOT TO BE YOUR BIGGEST NEW FAN!! FISHING TRIP WITH YOU IS DEFINITELY ON MY BUCKET LIST BROTHER!!!! KEEP EM COMING!!! LOVE WATCHING YOUR EXCITEMENT FOR OTHER FISHERMEN AS WELL AS YOURSELF... YOU'RE A TRUE SPORTSMAN AND BADASS!!!
Man I absolutely love your videos!! I spent about a year in Panama in 09 totally wish I would have checked out the fishing then.. keep up all the awesome work!! Killing it!!!
Bro here in Cali we use small baits for yellowtail. Use a small sardine or anchovy instead of a huge mackerel. Trust me I’ve caught 50 pounders out there on tiny baits with really small strong hooks. Don’t use a stinger hook either the fish will see it and won’t bite it and it kills the bait.
Hell of a fun watching the video feeling the closest possible as being there, congratulations for such nice videos that includes different situations such how the morning start, how you land the fish over the motherboat, etc
This is frisking cool.i was just showing my girl I'm like they come get ur fish and the dudes like you want something a beer ,a fajita it's frisking awesome
Robert, love watching these videos, we just got clobbered with 15 inches of snow last night. These videos are my escape after a full day of shoveling the driveway. Keep up the good work.
Its so awesome to watch Porpoise chase flyers but watching a big ass Bull Mahi flying thru the water on their side so they can track the flyer and the second the flyer lands he is done!!!!
Having lived on the west coast all my years I can vouch for those jigs. The yellowtail slam 'em. The two that work best for me are the blue/white and the ''scrambled egg" colors. I think they are made by a company called Tady.
Great stuff! San Clemente is awesome. I've spent time doing marine mammal studies based off SCI (the sketchiest boat launch I've ever used is on the NE corner) but never had a chance to fish which was torture. FYI those were harbor seals, not sea lions, on the rocks. Bottlenose dolphins too, not porpoise.
sweet shot on the jelly fish. thanks for all the underwater shots, what great footage you will never forget those flying fish. I have noticed in my life of fishing the lighter the line you always get more bites, you just have to learn not to try and horse them in. I got a 31 pound spring salmon on 10 pound test. this might sound cruel, but, if you cut a fin off your bait it will swim different and stand out more. thanks for sharing. stay safe
This trip is another level! Can't belive how good whole crew and service is. I guess it's not cheap, but worth every penny in my book. Greetings from Croatia!
Dude it never fails turn on your channel and there is always something to blow your mind. Question why the fawk do fish need to fly. that was so cool. Field trips is amazing. Peace Be safe out there.
@@YakFishField I'm in Northern Virginia so anytime you are filming anywhere close I'd be down for it. I know you've already shot a bunch in the area but just let me know and we can work something out.
In the late water the mackerel move into La Jolla. Catch them to drag around for #50 White Seat Bass that. move into shallow water from the canyons to spawn
So what fights harder per pound, Yellowtail or Pampano(idk which species)? I always use the ringed hooks with live bait, J's or circle. Welcome to SoCal
The surface iron is like our natural color cedar plug!! Only those who know would ever buy either one because they look so lame. I would beg to differ 😅
Haha they make a non-drowsy version. Pro tip: take the drowsy dramamine at night before bed, then the non-drowsy the second you wake up before breakfast. Works every time for our clients in Panama.
God seeing bait balls like that reminds me of lake trout fishing with buzz bombs. Just find the bait ball and start jigging the buzz bomb. Lots of trout. Now i need to try saltwater
@@YakFishField can't use the app here in the UK which sucks like everything else here.... Hats look decent dude! Keep up the good work and tightlines....
Im wondering if you could do trip cost break downs? If anything just put it in the description. I know you get deals and free trips but any info would be great. I’d love to go on some of these trips but have no clue where to start lol
I fish Clemente a dozen or so times a year. If I were you I would slow troll a flat lined sardine and a second rod with an egg sinker sardine. I would dedicate the entire day to that, probably your best shot at a finicky yellow.
