Defender still not getting stuck... Hmm, driver skill or just an awesome Land Rover. What do you guys think? 😀😀

Outstanding video guys! All is well in the land of Norway as Erik is rescued and the LR4 gets to tool around in the snow. As an LR3 owner it's fun to watch the LR4 exercise its special features prowess. Just last week I was wheeling round in about three feet (91 centimeters) of snow and became stuck. Much shoveling later I was up and running again. Eagerly awaiting the next video.

Thank you so much! :) Three feet, no wonder you got stuck! 😀 Always good to have a shovel in the back during winter and hey, free exersice. How did you get stuck? Did you flat out on the snow? I really liked how the maxtrax worked in the snow. I didn't have to high of expectation for them but they really did great. 😀👍 Aiming for part 3 release on Sunday the 10th of march. 😉 Thanks again for watching and for the support!!

Thanks for the response. @@LandRoverDrive Getting stuck was a result of a similar problem your LR4 had. I couldn't see contours and became high centered. I was driving around 7,000 ft elevation and the snow was wonderful powder when the entire underside became caked solid. Yes, very good exercise.

Great video guys! I love how the dog seems to be having as much fun as yourselves! I really like the design of the Discovery 3 and 4. It kind of tough and functional with a bit of class; almost in between a Range Rover and a Defender. The new Discovery's design I think is a little fussy; but I could get used to it if I had one!

Thanks man! Storm is awesome and he loves the snow! 😉👍 The D3 and the D4 is one of my favorites when it comes to "modern" Land Rovers, and it's as you say a fine middle way. I have a D3 as my daily drive and it's just amazing to drive. The new D5 I guess takes some time getting used to, but I think I would go for the new Defender(Discovery) as it's looks like it's going to get the same look as a Discovery 3/4. 😀 Thank you so much for watching and for your support!

You will be fine. Just take it easy when there is changing road conditions. At the moment, if you follow the E6 in Norway, there shouldn't be any issues. I'm located in the middle, Trondheim city area, and there is basically no snow here now. So main roads will be easy driving. :)

Simon, Great Video again! Just a question, do you tried to use snow chains in these conditions and if so, does it make a big difference?
@LandRoverDrive
@LandRoverDrive 3 года назад
On snowy road we don’t use snow chains. Would have to drive so slow. If we go into deeper snow or there is just ice I would put on the chains, but only where they was needed. We drive on proper winter tires which works really great in these conditions and the colder it gets the better grip you get, to a certain point of course. 😊 There is a old video where I drive with snow chains just to get up the last hill to my brothers cabin. Just search for snow chains in my channel and it’s the one with my Discocery 3 in Selbu. 👍

Very nice guys, curious if you’ve tried Exitrax? Also are you just using tow points as opposed to rated recovery points, seems like you were doing very controlled tows, good move :)
@LandRoverDrive
@LandRoverDrive 2 года назад
Hey Marcus, I don't think any of us have tried the Exitrax. We all have MaxTrax. On the Defender we were using the tie down points which are not rated for recovery, but with double hookup and easy tows it was fine. Rated Recovery points are always to be preferred and something we should have had in order before we went out. :) We like controlled and safe recoveries and we all agree on that safety comes first so I feel always safe when we are doing these pulls.

Is it ok to use the towbal for this light recovery?
@LandRoverDrive
@LandRoverDrive 5 лет назад
The rule of thumb is to never use the towbal. You never know if the car can get stuck or other things happens. We are doing it very slow and easy here so probably would have been fine, but real recovery points is what you want and need if you are going to be off roading. :) Thank you so much for watching and stay tuned for part 3 and more through out the year. 😀

Looks like you would be in big trouble if the Defender would be stuck too. 😄 It is better to not use the reverse gear for towing. It is build weaker than the other gears.
@LandRoverDrive
@LandRoverDrive 5 лет назад
Hey and that was wat I said to the other guys... :) Maybe in part 3... Who knows... :) And you are quite right, I was supposed to put it as info text in the video but I forgot. Know this issue, only learned that last year watching another video. :) That is why we are using the long snatch strap, more stretch, and just idling in reverse. :) Soft snow is prette safe too, but should have gotten the text in so newcomers to the off road world don't ruins their reverse gear and diff's.. :) Thank you so much for supporting, giving tips and commenting. Really do appreciate it. :)

Land Rover Drive If you put up some info text, you could add: Never ever use the tow ball for recovery. Too many are doing that. Ronny Dahl made some videos about how they become a deadly projectile.
