Part 3 and final part. - Erik with his Range Rover Classic get's stuck again and I have to save him again with the Defender. The Defender is in deep snow but will it get stuck..?? Watch and find out.. :)

Deep snow, tire failure, recoveries and more. The deepest snow we have had so far and it brings both fun and troubles for the Land Rover Drive team. Me (Simon), Erik and Ørjan go offroading with a Land Rover Defender 110, Range Rover Classic and a Discovery 4.
The snow is deep and the cars handles it in different ways. You will se winter tires vs Mud terrains and you will see which terrain response mode the LR4 should use when driving in deep snow.

Sorry for the late replies. Do to Norwegian Home Gouard duties I have been away for a week. 😉 "For King and Country" 👍 So from today and until summer I have nothing else planned so I'm back in the editing seat so the videos will come more consistently. 😱😀 Thanks for waiting and for you great support, really appreciate it. 😉

Land Rover Drive yes we do we had lot of snow up until last week or so in town we had over 4 feet. But plenty still further up in the mountains 🏔. I have 1997 NAS Defender 90 and 2006 Range Rover so I enjoy driving in the snow has much has you all seem too!

@@RockmanDash Great combo with the 90 and the RR. Love switching between my 110 and the D3. :) Snow is just the best kind of fun when it comes to driving conditions. 4 feet is great, about the same as we see where I live. And as you say, we get more up in the mountains. 😀👍 Now I'm just waiting for spring to set in so I can start fixing up the Defender and getting it ready for some summer overland trips. :)

Yep, I wish I had some MT tires at the time but in time the Defender will either get MT tires or snow chains. I haven't decided yet. :) What do you recommend?

Great video guys as always :-) looks like you know the track i would be scared to hit a rock. hidden in the snow. What setting use the LR4 on the terrain response system?

daniel H hey, yep the track is driven about 100 times before. 👍😁 But as you can see in part one there is always the chance for surprises in the snow. 😅 The LR4 is in sand mode, best mode for loose snow like this. 👍 You can see the difference between snow mode and sand in part one. 😉

Nice snowplows😂. Any sign of warmer engine temperature with those plugged grills/radiators? Would be interesting to see what difference chains would make.

The V8 is cool as long as the electric fan is working. Oh, and the chains are on for the next one. :D

Hehe, Land Rovers are so many things. 👍😁 No sign of it getting too warm, my temp sensor isn’t showing the right temperature so not sure how hot it got. 😅😅 As Erik said, chains in the next one. 👍😁

Mexico is quite mountainous in some areas so I do believe they get snow there but I'm not sure if anyone lives in an area where it would snow. I don't believe it has ever snowed in Baja California. I just go down here in the winter as I currently have a boat to hang out on .

I was thinking that the main reason you were unable to make progress in the deep snow was that your vehicles were piling the snow in a wall in front of them. Snow Ploughs have an angled shovel that pushes the snow to one side to allow forward progress. My daft idea is to fit a mini snow plough shovel to the front of the vehicle. I know it's crazy but there you go !!

Hehe, yep would have been fun to try out and to watch. They are pushing the snow to the side as you say and also removing the loose snow to get grip on the firmer snow and ice below it. The combination makes it work great. I can just get Erik and Ørjan to sit up front and shovel as I drive, hehe. 😀😀

Which 4x4 best on these trails? The old school defender? New ones not as good?

In this kind of condition I think it’s more about lift and clearance and tires than the car it self. So the Defender has the advantage with clearance whiles the RRC has a bit better tires for the deep snow. 👍😊 Think they did pretty similar that day. 👍😊

Thanks man and thanks for watching! For this off-road trip I think the Mud tires had it's advantages. But if you check out the other winter video you will see the winter tires had the upper hand at the end. It depends a lot on the conditions. But on road, the winter tires wins by a long shot. 😉👍 MT's on road during the winter is super dangerous, not recomended. So if you need to drive a bit to get off-road I recommend winter tires. With the cars in this video I believe the Ranger Rover Classic and how it set up is the overall winner. If you can get a Defender that has traction control, it would beat the Classic. The Disco 3 and 4 are just too heavy. But this is my thoughts, others may have other experiences. So far the RRC has been amazing and has been the car to beat. 👌

Defenderen til Simon har dessverre ikke TC, eller ABS for den del. Enkel og basic...! Classic'n har vel egentlig fordelen med MT-dekkene. Jeg tror faktisk Disco'n ville kommet lengst om alle stilte med samme dekk.

@@erikiversen4497, ja, abs og tc henger jo sammen. Min 90 td4 er også uten dette, men min har arb i begge aksler plus Ashcroft Underdrive. Det skulle vært gøy å teste den sammen med dere i snøen.

Hei, mange ting som spiller inn her tror jeg men hadde vært kjempekult å fått alle bilene over på samme type dekk. :) Jeg tror fortsatt Discoen ville ha slitt litt på grunn av vekten, den stiller med ca 1 tonn mere vekt. Skal noe til å hente inn så mye kraft og friksjon. :) Hvor holder du til? Det vil være noen turer det er mulig å bli med på. :)

Land Rover Drive Stemmer vel ikke, da ville D4 veid 3 tonn 🥶🥶🥶🥶 Bilen din er oppgitt til 1980 kg. Min forrige D4 veide 2502 kg. Men ser selvfølgelig problemet med tyngde, D5 er noe bedre på snø merker jeg enn D4, særlig på glatta.
