DS9 is built tough. and the Dominion ships, almost size of the station wow.. knew they were big but eeh.. Yes, Red Squad thought they found a weakness, but they were dead wrong...literally (3 survivors). And yes, it's close to the power of a Scimitar class ship.
I believe that as part of the upgrade of the stations weapons, they are more powerful torpedoes. For example it took 3 torpedoes to take out a bug ship, yet on this simulation it took something like a dozen.
Yeah... it says that SF likely upgraded them heavily along with every other power system onboard. Remember that Ds9 was originally a 50 year old mining station. When Starfleet came in, they patched it up and gave it modern torpedoes to turn it into an 'outpost'. It wasn't until Season 3 that it underwent heavy duty upgrades so it can withstand against a Dominion invasion... so, by the time Way of the Warrior aired (end of Season 3), it was effectively fully upgraded to a 'starbase' status. There's no way 3 large fusion reactors would be able to provide enough energy to fight off 50 odd ships. Trek weapons and energy systems thanks to subspace technology can be radically enhanced... so I'm thinking that what are commonly thought as 'baseline' yields in MT, in Trek, because of how advanced technology and knowledge are, they found a way to enhance everything. At any rate, a lot of the Cardassian systems were operating 20% below SF's efficiency levels with little redundancies. So, I'm assuming those 3 fusion reactors were heavily upgraded and fortified so they can be comparable to Warp cores in terms of power production.
@@deksroning125 it may have been a mining refinery but it was still a millitry station desiged to maintain cardassian rule of the bajor system, also most space stations run off fusion reactors no need for a warp core on something that is not going to go to warp speeds and even federation starships have fusion reactors onboard to power thrusters and impulse engins and act as back up power supplies.
Jake Sisko : Nog, listen to me. We're in way over our heads here. Someone told me that ship out there is twice the size of a Galaxy-class starship and three times as strong. Nog : That's accurate. I think the main issue with anything related to Bridge Commander is the engine's age - it takes advantage of absolutely no part of a modern machine except for single core processing power. One can only wish for a modern version of the game. Mods seem to expose cracks in the engine. Still... people wouldn't persist if it wasn't fun.
It's kind of better to focus fire on a single at a time then it would be to fire at separate ships at once. I would take out the smallest ship's up to the biggest one at a time. Yes on TV it looks better to attack everything at once but in it makes more sense one by one from the smallest to the biggest. Some would say to take out the big guy first but that will take a while and then you still have all of those other guys chewing away at your shields and over time it can be a problem.
That won't even be a competition a cardassian station vs an ancient city ship and especially powered by a zero point module. the only way DS9 would even have a chance is if Atlantis shields were completely down. I just don't think that ds9 has the punch to take out the shields. Also the city of Atlantis I'm fairly certain dwarfs ds9

Why shouldn’t the Defiant not be able to take on the Founder ships, they were made to take on The Borg, their size shouldn’t really matter if they have good shields, armour and weapons. It always made me wonder why Starfleet didn’t build hundreds of them as they were small and you wouldn’t lose a large crew ?
The original plan was for a whole battle fleet, however as time passed the perceived Borg threat waned and the project was cancelled. The problems they had with the ship being overpowered and almost tearing itself apart didn't help matters any. It wasn't until the attack on Sector 001 in 2373 that they restarted the program and started building more. As seen not only with the Valiant, but another unnamed one that helped recover the Prometheus in "Message in a Bottle" (VGR)
DS9 always seemed overpowered. I mean it's only powered by fusion reactors - not a warp core like starships. It doesn't really have *that* much internal volume (although the size of DS9 does to vary from episode to episode) and yet it takes a huge amount of punishment and deals crazy damage. I get that it doesn't need space for impulse or warp engines but it just seems ridiculously OP compared to starships.
I thought about that and perhaps Starfleet upgraded a lot of the systems off screen because of the stations strategic value. It would make sense considering it's proximity to the wormhole.
Starfleet would surely have added independent power systems for their new weapon emplacements? They’re redundancy mad! Lol Plus i never liked this idea that the warp core was meant to power the whole ship...for some reason when i watched the shows first time round i always thought the fusion drives did everything but warp and warp core could be used if necessary when additional power was needed only “Geordie, use the warp engines if you have to...”. Or have i gone mad? 🤪
what bridge commander build do you have? whats patches and so forth? BC runs very poor on my system, bad frame rate. I have a great laptop too.... trying to understand why it runs poor. you also look like you have a great resolution...
Does this BC mod fix the infamous memory leak that BC suffered and which was never officially patched? I remember playing this when it came out and wondering why the performance got worse the longer I played it until it would eventually crash as it had no more RAM left. Being a 32-Bit exe I'm pretty sure it can only address a max of 4GB?
I’d have to say it hasn’t been fixed. As the more battles you play, the more stutter you get. Then when you try to quit the battle, the game crashes to the desktop! Never knew Ram was the issue, always assumed it was some buffer filling up. Thanks for the info, makes sense now!
