I'm stuck between this and the x1. I don't know which one is better.

She already has EAT Prelude. Actually when i saw this Debut Pro i was thinking....hmm it is very close to Jozephine's premium desighns, what if it was her ideas to make Debut like Deluxe version))) I purchased PRO yesterday so on this week i will unpacking it. I hope there will no motor noise rumble though...

It is already in stores. Demand is pretty high on these, but we do our best to keep up.

Aluminium sub-platter would be a perfect upgrade. The acryl it more for optical reasons. Technically speaking the Debut PRO platter is nice in all aspects, but practically speaking if you want it for the looks, go for it.

@@Projectaudiosystems perfect! Is the different aluminium sub platter specific to the model or are they the same? Eg classic vs debut. I'm guessing I need to get the debut sub platter.

Sometimes the sub platter can cause a bit of friction if the shaft is not sufficiently lubricated. Add one or two drops of good sewing machine oil into the inverted main bearing.

The Pick it PRO is perfectly tuned to match the Debut PRO. If you want to achive a different sound, you can upgrade the needle inside the Ortofon 2M series. Both have different history and design backgrounds. The Debut line was always designed for beginners who want to start into HiFi. These beginners usually don‘t have huge power amps and big speakers. We always tried to reach a big sound stage with a warm & full sound to compensate the weakness of small speakers. We also followed our philosophy with the Debut PRO & reached an even bigger soundstage thanks to the new Pick it PRO and heavy aluminium platter. And due to the VTA adjustment possibility, the anti-magnetic platter & the aluminium- carbon hybrid tonearm the Debut PRO is definitely ready for a moving coil (MC) cartridge. The X line in comparison aims another goal. With the X1 for example, you get a nearly perfect audiophile turntable in relation to the budget. It greatly benefits from better a amplifier and better speakers to reach the best possible sound. Due to the increased mass, 4 pin point cardan bearing construction with less friction and the different choice of the platter the turntable leads to a more analytic sound.

Yes the Pro is designed to be used like that and that is exactly how I use mine.

@@laszloszabo2703 the VTA doesn’t need adjustment. The felt mat is only 1mm thick. Records vary in thickness much more than the difference between felt mat or no mat. No one is adjusting VTA for every 180g record. What about warped records? Can’t adjust for that either. Some people put way too much emphasis on VTA. It’s important up to a point but not enough for 1 or 2mm to matter between a mat or no mat or a 120g record vs a 180g or 200g record.

Fit any of the 2M series stylus to the Pick It Pro body. The Pick It Pro cartridge body has lower internal inductance than any of the 2M series cartridge bodies which makes it an improvement overall in terms of frequency response. The Pick It Pro stylus however was a strange decision by Pro-Ject with its low compliance it suffers mis tracking distortion especially with loud sibilant recordings. A table of this caliber deserves a much better stylus. Fitting a 2M Blue or Bronze stylus to a Pick It Pro cartridge yields fantastic improvements with a more compatible compliance with the tonearm, great performance from the low inductance cartridge and also gives the best performance per price improvement vs changing to other carts. Moving coil is overrated. It means changing the whole cart when the stylus wears out and also improves the likelihood of increased noise floor from the high amounts of gain required.

Would recommend either the Tube Box S2. Or the Phono Box S2 Ultra (basically a Tube Box S2 without tubes, if you like that more). Both are fully discrete designs and share a range of other technical design choices. One step below, would be the Phono Box S2 and one above a Tube Box DS2. Any of those I mentioned can also handle MC cartridges.

No, the Pro comes with a generic record mat which can be upgraded. Even with the generic mat, the sound is improved over my Debut EVO.

The PRO comes with a mat, but the new platter is designed to be used without a mat as well. However, we would recommend some kind of record puck, weight or clamp to secure the record tightly against the platter. If you do not have something like that, you might want to use the mat as it also acts as a something that secures the record against the platter (that's where the term slipmat comes from).

I considered this one too, but am now thinking of getting the X1 or X2 instead.

Hi Bruno, there sadly was a batch of wrong sub platters which came with a too long spindle. Please report it to your dealer & ask for an exchange! Sorry for the circumstances.

We would not really consider it as an upgrade on the Debut PRO, but more as a sidegrade. Both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

It's worth the ≈$125USD to put a Funk Firm Achromat on this incompletely damped GONG! of a platter; the improvement is NOT subtle & therefore WELL worth its seemingly exorbitant price. Throw the supplied thin felt mat in the trash. Where it belongs!😛

@@Projectaudiosystems Thank you!. As for the cartridge on the debut Pro is it possible to change only the stylus with an Ortofon 2m Bronze or Black or is it necessary to change the whole body?

@@filippobresolin7069 In this case we would recommend changing the whole cartridge. Body to the 2M series is different from the PRO.

@@Projectaudiosystems Thank you! I contacted audiogamma italian and it says it is still waiting to receive the debut pro. When will you be able to send more to Italy? I am still waiting to receive it and at the moment I am without a turntable unfortunately.

It is this minimalist philosophy that makes it Pro-ject. If you want big stickers and overblown design, there are a lot of Chinese shiny products. The S-shaped chrome arms were a misfortunate attempt to reach rich Arabs and Russians.

What are you talking about? The Signature line has s-shaped arms. Those are the tables rich people are buying. We just want a cheaper table where we can easily swap out headshells and switch cartridges quickly. Which is exactly what Pro-Ject had when they introduced those arms on the 1Xpression, 2-Xperience SB and Xtension 9 tables in 2017. And now they've been discontinued?

The Dual CS518 is a better built, better sounding turntable at much the same price. Has a standard detachable headshell compatible with aftermarket from Audio Technica (HS-2) & TEAC & various Chinese vendors. Power & speed change switch a nice big knob with nice big graphics IN YO' FACE! And VERY CLASSY with it too, I think. You know instantly it's a Dual, whereas the cheaper Pro-Jects like this one look like somebody's basement hobby...ummm..."ProJect" 😜😏😄😄😄

The lack of branding IS the branding. You won't catch me walking down the street with 'NORTH FACE' or 'SUPERDRY' etc etc plastered all over me for this reason. Understated/concealed branding is where it's at.

@@JG-nx3jg I get that, but I'd prefer it if they printed something on the plinth. I mean, everything else (the tonearm, the dust cover, the cartridge) is branded on that table, why not the plinth? Or at least offer that as an extra for the people who would want it.

If you're too deaf to hear the difference, & too poor to care, then why waste your money? But most of those expensive turntables DO sound better than anything Pro-Ject makes, so get over it & go have a 🍺...

That's because it kind of is. This is an inexpensive turntable. Look at the competition, & SUCK IT UP, BUTTERCUP!😘 I prefer the Dual CS518 at this price myself; alot less junky, a bit better sounding, not-bad built-in phono stage included, & you can find the power & speed switch & don't need to fiddle with installing a separate belt to play 78's, either! Also doesn't have audible levels of wow, like my sample of the Debut Carbon Evo (or is it the Carbon Debut Evo? Or Debut Evo Carbon? Or Evil Debut Carbon? Or...🤔😵😵😵) did, right out of the box. Otherwise, new turntables at this price don't compare to a vintage purchase, & are no better sounding than any old Crapanese Fry-An-Ear, Soundsscrewy, Kenwoof, or Drechnics from the 70's & 80's. Speaking of Technics, once you go up a little from here pricewise this crude toy & it's other Pro-Ject friends don't compare with a 1200 Mk.7 or SL-1500...never mind Audio-Technica's Chinese offerings in the Debut Carbon Alphabet Soup's price class ($600-700USD).🙈
