Actually to be honest, I don't know if it was only Gulzar's and A R Rahman's work alone, given the the whole imagery, and more importantly the whole movie from beginging to end shows all the 7 stages of love. OS you can't ignore the visionary that Mani Ratnam sir is. We do not have many songs like that these days, because there are not many directors like that who are willing to give space for such works and collaborations. If you are interested you should listen to a song called "Narumugaye" from his movie Iruvar.

This song is my favourite ever.The poetry and meaning in it and the music which is so groovy and the intense vocals and the actors chemistry and the beautiful cinematography and imaginative choreography…uff…everything is perfect.It’s pure poetry in motion.Mani Ratnam the master orchestrator…And Manisha Koirala looked so otherworldly,ethereal in this song..I melted
