Mine from Donovan Vasta is likely a similar hybrid of unknown origin from a nursery in La Verne... That I use to know the owner and lead manager Tom Spellman. Dieter Lodder I believe was the owner. They must of thought seedlings came true to form, but that is only with self fertile whites... All hybrids will Express variation....
@@graymartin2275 Exactly! I have 2 variants from the nursery. One from Donovan and another from a friend that bought it from Armstrong Nursery in 2017. I hope it gives your farm an early pollen source. Tricia bloomed early this year for me at well, On 6-17-2020.

Thank you Eddie: OK, time for a major lesson concerning grafting and Rootstock (stock)... So, when grating one needs to have graft COMPATABILITY between the stock and the scion (budstick)... Normally graft compatibility is just assumed if the stock and the scion are the same species...In the case of Dragonfruit we have several species.. There is white Vietnamese (undatus), Red Costa Rican/Nicaraguan (Costarecensis), these are typically thorny and the red juice stains..., and red Guatemalan (Guatamalensis)... There are actually more like the megathanthus species but this is more tropical and will likely cause trouble unless you grow in a tropical climate... Try to follow me in a general rule of thumb guide... There are always exceptions, anomalies, etc. OK, it appears that the first three, and possibly all four species listed are compatible both sexually to produce hybrids and graft compatible... So your question will the different rootstock species impact the performance of the scion???? The answer is generally YES, but the question has to be asked "to only benefit? Is there any weakness?" And this too has to be clearly understood! And with Dragonfruit and the newness, it is not... So start simple.... Do you need vigor from your rootstock? This is pretty easy to determine! Is someone claiming their variety performs well in their soil type, this kind of thing... It is actually a science and the plum, citrus, apple industries have volumes of books on this subject and decades of research and plantings....
