What a missed opportunity. This would have been perfect casting.

This says a lot about how astonishing the game's face models & animations are. The deepfake is almost super convincing. As a lifelong lipreader, even the lip movements are better than a lot of deepfakes I've seen out there, it's not quite there, but it's the closest I've seen. How long before all in-game characters look like this? Can't wait to see how accurate deepfakes could potentially look for The Last of Us 2 given the lip animations in that are staggeringly good.

Why can't Sony capitalize on this? Keep Tom Holland as young Nate for the majority of the so-called movie prequel, then Nathan Fillion will narrate in with scenes throughout the movie about his adventures to Cassie Drake with Elena (Emily Rose) popping in and now and then. Heck, a visit from gramps Sully and uncle Sam (Matthew Mcconaughey) would be an awesome post credit scene.

So this was something I was not expecting. usually deep fakes are movies, not games. But it's opened a door to some I'd love to see. Ellen Page as Ellie. specifically the bedroom scene where Joel exclaims 'you are skating on some mighty thin ice'. I'm sure there are a lot of people who want to see Hugh Jackman as Joel too. This totally blew the door off my mind, not only because the deep fake blurs so well against a videogame it looks flawless, but the fidelity is so high it looks like the next stage in performance capture to translate over.
