I love my wood guns as well, I know one year I was using my 700 ADL that had a synthetic stock and while I was dragging my 5-point down the hollow, I fell a few times in the drain and landed on rocks. If that would have been a wooded stock it would have surely broken. So far, I have been really pleased with the 150 grain Nosler Ballistic tips. I may look into another type someday, but these have worked for me and Jerod for years now. Who knows Matt, maybe one day we can. Appreciate you watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA

Thanks, Dennis!! Dennis it is my favorite as well!! There is just something about being in that part of the country, no cell service, no traffic, no dogs barking, and no 4 wheelers. It is tough hunting and as I get older, now in my early 60's it seems to get tougher every year. But as long as the good Lord keeps me here, I plan to be there. I remember when my father-in-law gave up going to camp, you could see it in his eyes, something was missing. He was always eager for us to get home and tell him of our adventures at camp. I hope to continue the tradition he started me on over 40 years ago, and so far, I am with my son Jerod. He hopes to get his children into going to deer camp and enjoy what God has to offer. Nothing wrong with hunting the farm, my one brother-in-law stopped coming to camp when he bought his farm in Summers County, WV. He started hunting his farm, then his son started hunting the farm and has only been to camp a few times and only for a day and a night. He has cattle to attend to. But the traditional deer camp is slowly disappearing and that is one reason I am glad that we have the channel here to share those times. At least my grandchildren and one day great grandchildren will be able to see how their paw-paw and daddy use to hunt. Appreciate you watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA

Dennis, I totally understand what you're saying. Up there on the mountain I am limited to the area I can cover due to the steep terrain and deep hollows. I mean I could still do that, but it is a job for sure. Especially if you were to harvest a nice buck, you will have a heck of a drag back to camp. Thanks, Brian. Never hunted with a 270, all I have ever had, after hunting with a 7x57 Mauser, 30-30 and 35, has been 30-06. Then I started getting into a few other calibers, like a 25-06 and then the 223 and 300 BLK and 308, but I still like the 30-06. But now the 308 has brought me 2 - 8-point bucks!! So, we will just have to wait till next season to see if I use the 308 or still try it with the 700 30-06. LOL Appreciate you watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA

Of course, Jerod was a little upset that I wasn't using when I took the 8-pointer, I used the Mossberg Maverick 308WIN instead. I told him that I had just cleaned and oiled it after having it out in the rain that morning. That was why I grabbed the Mossberg instead. Yes, the 300 is a Model 99, it is a great old rifle. It was his dad's and he got it after his dad's passing. Charles, I reload for every rifle I have in the safe, I don't think I have bought factory ammo for maybe 15 to 20 years. Well, I did go out about 3 weeks ago and found a box of 35 Remington, finally. I was going to take my Marlin 336 chamber in 35 Remington this year, but before season I couldn't find any ammo anywhere. I need to get a set of dies for the 35!! Thanks, Melvin. I try and keep all my rifles in good shape. I always clean them and like that 700, after coming in after being in the rain that morning, I took a few towels and wiped it down. I have been doing deer camp for 40 years now. My father-in-law and his son's invited me to deer camp in 1982 and I have been going ever since. My one brother-in-law passed away in 2007, and then my father-in-law in 2013, but Jerod and Big Al (brother-in-law) try and keep the deer camp tradition alive. We had a nice camp site in a campground until 2021. We had put my father-in-law's bus on the site back in 1996 and it had been there ever since. We used to drive the bus from home up on the mountain, that was 90 miles. When we found out about the campground in 1995, we talked to the owner, who died in 2007, and got a lot. His son runs it now, but he has allowed the wrong crowd in the campground and things have just gone downhill. So, we have gone back to our original roots and pull a camper to the mountain and hunt the week like we used to. Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA

I do as well Dennis. But I haven't bought factory ammo in a long time since I do my own loads. I was going to take my Marlin 35 Remington with me as a backup rifle but couldn't find ammo for it. We had been looking for several months, and nothing. Strange thing was after season was over, I did find some at Dunham's, so I bought a box!! Almost $50 for a box. Thanks, Major. I think Jerod explained it in one of the later videos, but here is the reason we didn't camp there. The spot we camped in back in 2020 and 2021 has been our camp site since I started hunting back in 82, then in 1996 we got a lease on a camp site at Ted Macks Campground. Well, if you have watched our videos, you know that we started having issues back in 2017, then after the break ins and the arson we decided to go back to our roots and camp on the mountain. Well, there is an 80 foot or more tall pine tree there that we use to hang our deer from. Back in 2013 when my father-in-law died that tree did as well. After our hunt in 2021 at that spot and having the camper rock back and forth due to high winds, we decided that wouldn't be a good place to camp while that tree is still standing. Once that tree comes down, we will hopefully be back in that spot. Of course, when it comes down, we will be the ones who will have to cut it up and get it out of the way, especially if it falls across the campsite location. Appreciate you watching and commenting. Well Josh, it all depends, mostly we use Remington Model 700's in 30-06. But we always bring a back up rifle, and that could be anything that we have. Like in this video here, I was using my back up rifle just for the heck of it. It is a Mossberg Maverick bolt action chambered in 308WIN. I have taken two 8-points with this rifle. I have taken a 6-point with my AR15 chambered in 300 Blackout; I have also taken a 6-point with my AR15 that is chambered in 223 Rem. I have several videos on the channel of my favorite firearms, you can see some of the firearms I hunt with. We, my son and I, just recently purchased a new rifle, a Howa Model 1500 chambered in 308WIN. Those rifles are awesome!! Thanks for watching and commenting. Juddie - J & J TOA
