Deer vetch is one of the best warm-season species to plant in your food plots. Watch this video to learn why and how to incorporate it into your management plants.
Thanks for sharing this. Joint vetch is my number one summer planting in my personal plots and my clients. There's so little information on vetch compared to other summer plantings that it is sometimes difficult to convince clients to have me plant it. This video will really help. Thanks again! One thing I'm planning to try is over seeding crimson clover in to standing vetch in a few weeks and see how it does during the winter and this coming spring.
What happens to it in the fall? What the best way to terminate Deer Vetch? Does it work well with a no-till approach... seed a fall blend into it, then terminate, etc.? Thanks!
Hey Doc, I planted joint vetch with partridge pea this summer but all I got was partridge pea. The partridge pea looks good and thick and is currently going to seed. Any idea why the joint vetch didn’t come up. I used Prowl for pre-emergent.
