Fun fact, and as I commented on this video, the guitar tracks were recorded through a Rockman headphone amplifier that was designed by Tom Scholz of the band Boston. Buckethead is also known for using Rockman headphone amps and a Rockman head to record. Its a great clean tone platform

Anthony Michael Hall played Mutt Lange in the movie Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story. For anyone curious about the band or their music from band’s conception and early success, please check this one out. It’s one thing to know Rick lost his arm in a car accident, it’s quite another to watch a band involved reenactment. Same with Joe Elliot’s voice that was tweaked by Mutt Lange to go up and scream that high because it makes the song better (lyrical production value from a producer). They grew up and developed as a band together in the hopes of being like Led Zeppelin one day. 40 years later, they still, Rock It! Yeah! One of my go-to favs of theirs to listen to is Women, oh and Two Steps Behind and Love Bites and Let’s Get Rocked and…. Uh, Oops 🤭😂

Back then… Duran Duran got a nearly live first reaction from the fans and mtv viewers with their Reflex video. It was the coolest thing I’d seen in a music video up to that point (unexpected). Gotta throw a hat tip to the Power Station too 🎩

To me the lyrics always seemed to be sung from the perspective of a guy falling so hard for someone that it scared him sh*tless. (Similar to the sentiment in Love Bites, actually). That’s how it came across at the time: As a sign of a band maturing a bit and not just being about the booty call. Musically it also sounded very left field for a band considered to be, if not heavy metal then at least a hard rock band. Those dense backing vocal stacks would soon influence American R&B music production by the way. It’s always a beautiful thing when different genres pollinate each other, I think.

That is what the lyrics talk about but actually the band’s inspiration was a spiritual epiphany. The song was actually about a religious/spiritual experience.

This whole album is fire!! I saw them in concert after they came back from the drummer losing his arm. Talk about insane. He didn’t miss a beat. It was unbelievable the way he relearned how to play the drums. Absolutely amazing!!

So happy when they came back after Ricks crash and released this kind of quality. Stage in the middle of the floor. Ricks new sci-fi drum set (for the time it was). They were still great in concert and sounded perfect. Tesla opened the show supporting their first killer release so the energy was awesome and the crowd filled with babes. Good album of music

This song y’all it kills me every time! Not a huge Def Leppard fan…but this one jams in the car to this day. Got that Bose stereo pumping that bass…oh it’s brimstone to this day! Oh and you always know when Asia and BJ like something…Asia with that smile that kills ya and BJ never stops moving…that’s why I love you too so much! My husband doesn’t watch any music anything..but I got him to watch you two because i stumbled into this reaction from you guys of beastie boys and now Rick watches all your reactions as well. He loves BJ and the “HE AINT” in Billie Jean reaction. He was laughing so hard nothing came out. Neither one of us watch any other reaction channel but you two. We both love it. We go to RU-vid to see a video if we want to see something from old school days..but never watch RU-vid. You two are great!

One of my favs. The band is so good... i remember during the Grunge era... some young people that preferred bands such as "smashing pumpkins" laughed at Def Leopard. Well TIME has shown us the truth.... Def Leopard's music is basically TIMELESS.... and the Pumpkins have essentially been, "SMASHED" over time.

You two are awesome. Your love for each other shines thru on every episode and watching it is amazing. My hubby and I are going on 36 yrs this month and we are both 70's/80's generation. Asia, do a re-reaction to Fleetwood Mac's Tusk but find the official video. You will be sitting straight up in your chair! A tip for your 80's videos, especially the rock videos. Find the official videos if you can. Most bands from that decade made mini movies for their songs. We were a cheesy generation.🤣 Love you both!

Huge Def Leppard fan since I was a teeny bopper (13) I started with Pyromania then listened to High and Dry until Hysteria came out. I like the majority of the songs on each album instead of only having a few favorites. I guess that makes them amongst my first band favorites (like AC/DC and Led Zepplin). You know back in 1987 when they released this album , this album did something that none of the Beatles albums had done . This album had 6 singles in the top 100 count down . This song was the lowest ranked single of the 6 singles & it was ranked at #10 . No album in the past 35 going on 36 years has done it either . That's why when I someone on Facebook last September post that strip clubs saved this album . I told him , this album has never & will never need saving . It's one of the greatest selling albums in music history for a reason & it ain't because of stip clubs . Def Leppard is also one of only 5 rock bands that have not one but two albums that have gone double diamond .
