That was exactly my point. I really thought the crowd watching this video would get what I was saying, I mean, atleast recognize that I was just pointing out the humor, the irony in the situation. I know it better than anyone. I know what its like to be an artist and know for a fact that you're better than alot of mainstream "artists", yet still have nothing to show for it.... Really though, I cant believe I had to explain that comment. I really cant believe the art crowd didnt get it.
@TheSheldon038 My "beef" with it is that mainstream exists to make money, not to express a passion. Art is best when created out of a love for that form of art, not out of a love for fame... or a love for people loving your music.
@TheSheldon038 (2 of 2) And the flaw in your logic is that if it sells it must be good. The PROBLEM is that they make it to sell it, rather than to put something out with real emotion and impact.
I dont understand why people get angry at mainstream rappers and claim they dont have "talent". Maybe a lot of them do have talent and can talk about other appealing things rather than cars, money, fame and all that other shit. Maybe they are capable of saying something like this in music. But if they did, would they be where they are now? Maybe its the industry, and not the rapper, maybe its the FANS and not the rapper. If you buy it, why wouldn't they sell it?
@Marcownz747 no where did i say that its good if it sells. Carter 4 sold more than watch the throne but that doesnt mean i think its better because of quantity. But what is the REAL beef you have with mainstream music? If it doesnt cover what you want it to cover or talk about certain things that you value, why not just ignore it and listen to your type of music? I think people are mad because these "rappers" are making big money off of shit that people dont see as important.
