You know, I always love how Tobey's suit always gets shredded and nearly destroyed. It's such an underrated effect, it shows that he's fighting with only himself, his powers and nothing else. No high tech gadgets, no super suit- just a kid who's fighting, getting hurt, getting injured, wounded and bruised- yet still so committed and determined to do anything to save everyone. I don't know how to explain it, it's like you see that he doesn't always have the upper hand. He struggles, he get thrown about, he gets nearly killed, and in all those situations his suit slowly gets torn and torn until it's his skin taking damage.

@@1codeking hm, I think there's a part of the Doctor kind of regretting that he has to destroy his work eventually in the end. He was close to harnessing the 'power of the sun', but he had to take it down in the end. @BENR8108

Otto always liked Peter; but once he got an understanding of why he was “lazy” being Spider man he admired Peter. It was a bit sad (and part of the drama) that Otto could have been a surrogate father figure for Peter; and in Spider Man 3 you see his anger and vengeance come out because he didn’t have a Uncle Ben to guide him.

@weakestlink20
@weakestlink20 2 года назад
4:56 Really like this part of the scene, it really quickly and effectively demonstrates just how insidious his robotic limbs are. Even as they have completely lost their grip on Octavius' mind, they're still so reluctant to comply with him and shocked by his demands to them until it becomes completely clear that they can't regain their control over him. And then a few moments later, Octavius finally exerts his own control over his own arms, gripping Peter again, but no longer with the malicious manifest of old, instead as an extension of Octavius himself this time.
@mikephelps9238
@mikephelps9238 2 года назад
Although, I wouldn’t consider it as just reluctance, but confusion and were debating to listen to him for Peter. I noticed one of the arms listening to Peter’s speech on giving up the thing you want the most to do what’s right. It’s as if they were also affected by these words and it led to the four debating with Otto before agreeing to listen to him again, because the fusion reactor was their directive, just like it was Otto’s dream, but it’s as if they gave up on it too, because their true directive was to serve Otto.
@fredv6237
@fredv6237 2 года назад
Peter 1 also explained that nicely.
@thesnatcher3616
@thesnatcher3616 Год назад
@@mikephelps9238 You can make the argument that the arms were in a way, trying to help Otto do what they thought he truly wanted to do, which was to accomplish his dream of creating the fusion reactor and finish his life's work. That's what Otto wanted all his life and the arms basically twisted it in a way where their constant persistance made him forget WHY he wanted to create the fusion reactor in the first place, which was to help people. Just because you want something doesn't neccesarily mean it's something you need.

One difference I loved between this scene and No Way Home is the way the two Peters approach Ock. Tom's Peter repairs the inhibitor chip with his knowledge of advanced machinery and access to high tech Stark equipment. Tobey's Peter can't do that, at least not in the moment -but, unlike Tom, he's able to appeal to Ock and get him to see reason. He reminds Ock of what's most important to him. Not his work, or his ego. His principles and his wife. Tom had the smarts, but Tobey had the heart.

As a kid, This was my favorite shot in the movie. At the time, I thought it looked cool to have him look at the camera facing away from this artificial sun he created. As an adult, I genuinely cried a little. The shot here is perfect. The way his theme swells into a more heroic sound as he slowly turns back gives me chills. I wish I could explain further why this is one of my favorite movie moments of all time, but it’s just too perfect to put into words.

Alfred Molina was such a gold in this film! He came back for No Way Home only for the money and still gave 110% of his performance is honestly incredible! It just shows what a professional he is. Actually it's fair to mention that everyone did a great job in that film and especially the former cast just proved once more why we loved them so much back in those days.

Just noticed something - in the end, Doc Ock did use his intelligence "for the good of mankind". Even Peter couldn't think of a way to stop the machine and save New York, but Doc Ock decided to use his intelligence as a "gift" and figured out that the machine could be stopped by drowning it, thereby using his intelligence "for the good of mankind". One of the cleanest and best villain character arcs out there.

Key detail, the tip right arm, is named Flo, Alfred and the puppet team worked hard to give each arm a personality, "she" is the one who always would check behind him, give him a drink of water, remove his glasses, they theorized they all had a personality, and that she was the motherly 1. Protecting him from being hurt, and the one that would "talk" to him the most. It's also the arm he looks at when he gets control. When the arm can read his mind and tell he wants to die as a man not as a empty shell of one. It submits to what he wants because he can't bear to see him suffer. The amount of detail is unreal
