Thank you sir. You saved my team from a whole lot of up downs.

This is why I love American football. Most casual fans don't pay attention to these details within the game. It's a team sport but within the game itself are individual one on one battles.

This was very helpful because I was very confused by techniques. When I hear technique I think of some sort of method, or mixed up with the stance of the lineman. No, technique is really a physical lineup position. Thanks for clearing that up.

Thanks for this. TV and radio commentators use this terminology assuming the rest of us already know what it means.

William, not sure what's going on when you're attempting to play the video, but I checked it out as soon as I read your comment and it played all the way through for me. If anyone else has issues with the playback of this video, please let me know, as I may have to re-upload the video. Sorry for the complications, but I appreciate the information/feedback!

8 technique is a head up TE? I always taught a 6 is head up on TE
@jeffymeh

+Jack Dingus depends who you ask, 6 and 8 are both head up on the TE

I thought it was 2,4,6 not 2,4,8

What would you consider the gap between the tackle and the flat if there's no TE?

It’s just the c gap

It actually makes sense that the tight end is eight cause if it was 6 it’ll have to share 5 with 4 .

Interesting, we just used gap numbers left are even, right odds (mirror of offense). Then our play would determine our line up. My coaches played for usc back in the 60’s
@mayhulk7514

My coaches did the same as yours, except odds on left and evens on right.

@@mayhulk7514 I think it’s way faster. We also called out how to line up in the gap or outside, stunt left/right etc

Why do so many coaches break their own rules in the TE?? Just go with 6i,6 and 7 outside... plz stop clinging to your precious 9.
@kevinb4077

I learned the method where 8 is actually head up on a wing back.

Is left side always referred to as the weak side??? And the right side is the strong side???
@squirly245
@squirly245 5 лет назад
It depends on the throwing hand of the quarterback. Weak side on the left for a RH and on the right for LH

Depends on the number of down lineman you have on either side of the center. Whichever side has more is the strong side. If it’s the same amount on either side it’s called a balanced line. Weak side means there’s less bodies and you’re “outnumbered” on that side. Nothing to do with the QB throwing arm lol
@amorales2710
@amorales2710 4 года назад
M3L4 23 oh okay I get it I see. So if the tight end is on the left then it’s the strong side
