Defiance Is a Free To Play MMORPG initially released in 2013 and Published by Trion, this game is based on the Sci Fi TV show "Defiance" and seems to be quite a story driven game, The game play is that of a Third person Action Combat shooter where you have to manually aim and dodge enemy attacks, This game is also completely open world and you're given a quad bike to explore with, despite all this the MMO does have it's fair share of problems which I talk about at the end of the video
I played Defiance for about 4 hours and condense my thoughts and feelings into this 21 minute video with a summary at the end.

In this video I try out a Free To Play MMORPG Called Defiance that's currently available to download on Steam This game is a Sci Fi MMORPG with action combat, public events, team deathmatch PVP and a massive open world, I had pretty low expectations for this game going into it but it wasn't as bad as I thought and I got some enjoyment out of it at times, that being said I always seem to get bored of shooter MMOs really quickly, personally I don't think they ever work too well due to the repetitive nature of just shooting stuff.
Could Defiance on PC be a good alternative MMORPG to games such as The Division, The Secret World or Destiny? leave your thoughts on this game in the comments below.

Im level 4570 and unpaid.. so.. out of 6000 This is my go to game for time to run around and blow people and stuff away. You can totally get lost in the map detected area fights, and you need more map coverage for fast travel, not just vehicle. GG Potatoe.

Alldayanyday1 On The PS4 stop buying consoles and build a PC. you wont have to worry about paying for online. wont have to buy new consoles and start over with your games library. can upgrade your pc 1 piece at a time rather than having to buy a whole new console. better graphics...way better. faster load times. more people to play with.

I disagree with more people to play with while yes you can usually get in lobbies faster it's hard af to find friends to play with. You have to use outside of game sources to meet new people.

I don't know if anyone else commented on this. My apologies if someone has though. I haven't played the game in a year but I do remember that the reason why players vanish during some events is to help with the server. It helps prevent the game from crashing. They are still there, but you just can't see them sometimes. I remember when it wasn't like that, my friends and I would get frustrated because we would crash out. The game itself is fun to play but it gets repetitive. I pretty much only liked to play with my friends because we would either goof off or play off our reactions to random things happening. Like when I decided to melee a Volge dude in the face and died. Wish I could play, but I'm broke and need a new PC and controller.

It probably wasn't phasing making everyone disappear. Some of those dynamic events require you to protect different areas, and they probably all moved to another area while laughing at the funny guy standing on his own. :)

Gotta restart playing it today, after two years, let's see what they have implemented. Also in the late 2014 it was really just a "shoot everything that moves" game, and i have to say it, despite my gaming experience, i really liked it.

I've played Destiny as well on PS4. Great game that felt right up my alley but I got bored. Still haven't tried any of the dlc though.

As average as this game is, it's one of a kind. Noone has ever designed a game to run concurrently with a TV series. The show is cancelled, but in the first 3 years, the game would update with episodes, usually refecting something that happened on the show. The game is set in a terraformed San Francisco and the show was in the remains of St. Louis. They crossed over somewhat with characters and storylines, but not as much as we would have liked.

Shadow war is just open world PVP so you will run into NPC’s and shed while you’re fighting other players, but I also think that I remember certain types of arena PVP also having NPC’s in there, which were sometimes more dangerous than the other players

I got a couple of years ago on a steam sale when it was not f2p yet. had a lot of fun for a couple of hours, but as is with the Division, it's a game that's way more fun if you play it with friends. Also since it turned f2p the ppl who actually bought the game got no compensation. at least a bit of cash-shop-currency would've been nice, but meh. I randomly return to the game, pop in, have fun for a couple of hours and let it rest for weeks after that. Your first impression is pretty spot on. Keep up these great vids!

The escalation in anger with Defiance is sooo fucking accurate. You start out enjoying the game, until eventually you see a lot of the shortcomings. Soon after, you come to the realization on how shit the game truly is and the aggravatingly repetitive music just adds salt to the wound. Thank you for this first impressions @TheLazyPeon, really enjoyed the hell out of it.

I bought season one on Blu-Ray when it was on sale at Best Buy for $10. Worth a watch, imo. I played the game a few years ago, but my potato of a laptop I owned at the time couldn't run it at more than 10-15 fps

I played this game for a few months a couple of years ago and I must admit that it was a lot of fun. But like yourself I tend to find that I get bored with shooter mmo's quite quickly. However I think that it is quite a good game and that people should check it out.

Also, I noticed the air description I know this is old but I noticed in the description bad you say defiance was based on the TV show that is not true that’s an address they were developed in concert. It was probably the first ever of its kind where the game and the TV show or planned out and developed together. The game literally came out with the TV show and having him chords called words in the TV show Nick copy used in game to acquire things who it was our our. I guess your calls experiment of making a game and a theory show that were closely tied together. Unfortunately, the TV show didn’t last game lasted way longer than the TV show from Gulfport into a new platform. It lasted so long.

I love to play this game when im bored cuz the pvp is so fun and u can do some sneeeaky stuff killing people, and u can go insade a shadow(pvp) zone without queing up its on the map and the world is nice and open to explore!Great vid peo ln keep up the good Potato work ;D

I'm sorry that i comment this again, but as I hope that you will read it, I want to ask you if you can make a first impression video of cabal 2 which is currently in it's open beta if you have the time and will to do so. I am recently searching for a good mmo and the other videos you did, already helped me a lot with my decision. i just started to test Cabal 2 on my own a few days before, but i would really like to see what you think about that game and what are the good and bad things of it in your opinion. :)

I don't know if anybody mentioned it or if I will be even seen, but Defiance isn't made after this series and that series wasn't made after this game. Te truth behind this is that both the series and the game aired at the same time and idea behind it was, that events from the series are going to affect the game and etcetera. Great idea if you ask me but... Well... Only if it's a good game and a good show...

When the other players vanish, its not that they are phased, they are still there, they just arnt loading on your screen

All the different vehicle types have different characteristics as to how they control how fast they go arm the time trials use a specific vehicle type. Sometimes they control well sometimes they don’t just the way the vehicle drives if you get that vehicle know if you’re actually a choir that vehicle, Anton’s gonna drive somewhere really fast but hard to control summer really slow but easy to control summer. I loved this game and the TV series. I got sooooo far in this game. I finished the entire series and the TV story line in the game. It takes a while to learn everything but, I learned them through guides & the website. You're missing out on some of the later story missions and "dungeons". Potato

I need to play this game again to see what's new, I actually enjoyed the heck out of it. Just felt a bit slow in some areas, but its fun in most ways. Sucks when you can''t use weps or moves without DLC however.

I loved this game when I played it (big fan of the show). The only issue I ran into was the massive lag problems at the big Ark Falls. I might have to play it again now. I never ran into any performance issues, even with a mid range pc from when the game came out.

Yeah sometimes the game can go a bit Potato with it's quality but the game is really fun once you get into it, though the late-game does need work. Also the Show, while nothing spectacular, is pretty damn interesting

Its not based on the show defiance, the show defiance and the mmo launched at the same time, and the ingame stuff would influence the series.

They dont function as much as classes. More as origins. But there are contracts to do that follow the origin playstyle and get pretty cool titles and outfits. The difference between them isnt playstyle just starting weapons, backstory, and costumes

Actually the tv show and the game where co-created. The idea was to have the tv show being based on the game. What ever happened in the game would affect the tv show. But i never noticed a thing in the tv show that was like ingame. The show got canceled after 2 or 3 seasons. Not sure if they even got ot finish the last season. The idea was nice though, but it didn't sustain. i like the action in this game though.

honestly,my thoghts on this game are same as yours. You nailed it. I am a fan of it and have followed the universe since both game and show began side by side. as a fan, my only other complaint is that they haven't done the bestest job at connecting both to eachother as they had promised. Honestly, its a difficult task but one that by now they should do a little better at.

Dude i run this on a gtx480 1536mb vram graphics card from 2010 the only update we got was more events and the only time i had fps issues is when its really busy with players and all particles are going. My fps drops to like high 50s in these situations where you was complaining about fps at 7:30 area. Not sure what was up with your pc because i remember these videos when you was looking for games to try and had us recommend you some. I was playing this and mortal online at the time (mortal ran like ass)
