Hey guys, what did you think about the intro for this video? instead of the facecam intro like my other first impressions I wanted to be more to the point in getting the facts out about the game and show a bit of trailer footage so you have a rough idea of what the game is, personally I prefer it this way but let me know what you think :)
My bet is they went early access because they need funds to continue development.. LazyPeon might have been a little bit harsh on it, I see plenty of people on yt having fun with it :)
Aliestor Gaming I'd choose harsh reviews more than the sugar coated ones though and ty to this video i see the core mechanics are in an awful state maybe if the developers update it to a good state i might rethink about it
early access has just become a free pass for game developers to deliver shit games and have people that buy in defend them for free. It works in theory yea, but they have no obligation to actually finish or release the game after they've gotten the money. It's a pretty risky usage of money, especially when there's so many developers that just take the money and run, it promotes unhealthy business models in an industry that's so vulnerable to them because of the target audience.
Get the full version for "free", you didn't get it for free? You only get a small discount, for a undeveloped game, that is probably never going to be released..
A 12 minute video where he spends the entire video trying to find something to do. Then when he finds some action attacks don't work. When will developers learn that that early access gives their game a bad name if the game is boring or unplayable? This is why I no longer purchase early access games. It's a waste of money.
I figure early access originally really is intended just for a few super dedicated people who want to take part in the shaping of a game that they have a passion about for some reason.. for the majority of people, it is a waste of time and money to be involved in early access and they really shouldn't put incomplete games on steam frontpages.
Really liking where this channel is going. These changes/additions all seem to be awesome, and the overall quality of your videos is more professional. Keep up the great work!
it would seem a little counter productive for the sake of bug fixing surely. Although if that's the case and the game launches bug free it might well be worth it
"I just took 1000 gold from him... HE'S GONNA BE SO PISSED" I really laughed out loud more than I should have at that. Thanks Peon for giving me some laughs. Great idea for the game but... I don't think it's being implemented very well is it.
I really enjoy watching you man, very good content, posibly the best i have seen on yt for many years. Keep up the good work. Very original and unique content and videos. Good job!!
Like the new format, though one thing I didn't like was how at the end the summary wasn't constantly on screen like it is with other first impressions. Sometimes I watch these and get distracted and that list was always a good way to recap if I missed a few seconds, and I felt it was better than the current few seconds it flashes on screen. Aside from that, great vid! Definitely like the intro a lot better.
You know you're the best reviewer I have ran across honestly, you never seem to compare games to some other game and you give honest opinion on current game Most important you don't bash games from what I seen so far :)
This is a really fun channel man, im jelous, i loved making videos and playing games but i just cant seem to pull my motivation together and start a channel, its amazing that youve come so far! love u man!
To any game companies who happen to read the comments here (ha, unlikely), you should know that people do actually try games out and even buy them based off of these kinds of videos. I am a perfect example and have played at least 5 games this guy has done videos on. TheLazyPeon, keep up the good work lad, it's helpful to me and I like to see games being played before I buy them. I may not agree with your assessments, but that's why we try new things.
I've been playing this game for a while. So far, everyone I see do the live streaming is completely lost. Take your time to learn the game it is quite fun.
The game isn't even in version 1.0. Currently (July 2016) it is version 0.07, which is SO early in development it could honestly be considered more of a proof of concept than an early access game. After 14 hours of play, most of which consisted of running the same route for hours to farm cotton for gold or farming the same plot of farmland for wheat to grind levels, I have personally concluded that while this game does have a LOT of potential, there are many balance issues and major fixes need to be made in order for it to sustain a dedicated playerbase. That raises the question on a broader scale: should Steam Early Access be a way for developers to make money while receiving free alpha/beta testers and community feedback instead of having the additional expense of hiring testers to perform that service? Or should Steam Early Access be a way for people to buy-in to a game they already know they want to play, supporting the developers who have already put in the work and money necessary to make a polished product, while receiving the reward of playing the game before anyone else for their good faith and money? As a community on Steam I think we need to come together at some point, in some way, and decide which option we want. There have certainly been good games to come out of Early Access, but there have also been many with a "take the money and run" business model. Until we, as consumers, can unite our voice and tell the people in charge of Steam what we want Steam Early Access to be we will continue to be sold unfinished products.
you're absolutely right about the "early access" thing, it seems like these days there are more and more "small dev teams" putting their "pre Alpha's on Early Access even though these games aren't playable. Maybe some short term cash grab, but I believe it hurts them more than helps them in the long run.
It could be pretty interesting yeah, but I think with a name like The Black Death, it should focus a bit more on death, fear and desperation as certain death can infect anyone at any time seemingly.. I should also like to see fully graphic dismemberment and such things to give it a proper feel of medieval brutality.
Hey Peon, are you planning on making an informational video on the Legion pre-patch? Or are you going to stay away from that kind of stuff until the full expansion launches? p.s. Keep up the great work
Making a fun pre patch video when invasions and stuff are out, there's no point me doing informational stuff when there's channels like Bellular, Asmongold or Heelvsbabyface
Hi Peon, seems like you missed one thing. There is a crafting system in the Game. To open the crafting menu you have to press "U" or press "I" to open the inventory and then take a look at the upper left corner. There should be a Button named "Crafting" or something like that. Therefore ir's a bit more content then you think :-) It's true that this Game profits from more Players (which are currently missing) but you can also do alot by yourself. For information: If you die in this Game it's permanent death! You lose all currently carried things (inventory wipe / cash wipe) but you can buy a house (or multiple don't sure) to safe / access your items beyond death. THE MOST IMPORTANT THING: The Devs are very transparent in this Project. If you have suggestions or Problems just go ahead an visit the Steam Discussion area or join the Discord-Channel: discord.gg/auXRcKb Best regards, Howdn
Dark Age of Camelot needs to me shown some love, its got over 45 classes and is one of the best MMOs out, they just did NO advertising and just did not have the marketing power of most mainstream releases.
I like the idea, seems really cool. The emptiness of the city (though perhaps it's not meant to be that way) is really eerie, and probably at least somewhat true to history during the height of the plague?
OMG ... thank you so much i was actualy about to buy this game because it takes place in one of my favorate periods in history and because of the concept but i guess ill keep that doe in my wallet and wait to ser where it goes
Hey @TheLazyPeon! Thanks for the honest review of the game here. In the upcoming weeks, the SIG team will be releasing V0.09 of TBD on Steam Early Access. We'd be more than thrilled to have you come and review it again. A couple of our devs made this video preview last week : steamcommunity.com/app/412450/discussions/0/343786745998264539/ Thanks! -Holy
I've been playing on v0.09, new patch really helped, its still early access, still has bugs, but the game holds alot of promise and is actually pretty fun. there are some balance issues, but i like the fact that there isn't much hand holding like other "survival" games. I love the crafting, and though I saw you were having issues, there are ways to heal yourself, ect. and the community is growing more and more.
Subbed to your channel 1 or 2 weeks ago and im really loving every "is it worth playing?" series video, also your awesome new "Gaming Session" i just love this channel because you are so receptive with us and i can somehow relate to you due to the fact that your reactions do seem to be really sincere and thats more than i can say about any other youtuber ( this also happens to me with Joe Vargas ), been looking for a good MMORPG to play with my friend and i was wandering which one would you recommend me of all the decent ones there are. Keep it up M8 you are awesome!! :)
Thanks dude :) I think the most obvious to recommend are Guild Wars 2, Elder Scrolls Online and Wildstar, Final Fantasy A Realm Reborn is also really popular but I haven't found the appeal for it yet
Thank you bro i was thinking on trying Elder Scrolls Online after i saw your first impressions on it, after watching it i really want to buy it even tho here in Venezuela buying such thing is considered a high luxury its really expensive for most ppl
Do you plan on doing a ESO review anytime soon? I went to try it again one week ago, and it got pretty damn good in comparison with it's initial launch. Enough to hook me in for a good ride, as on the other hand the launch made me quit in one week or so.
Good video Peon. I agree with you that this is not a game that should be in Early Access yet, as it seems like it's still being prototyped. The state of the game currently feels like they don't even know where they will take it. They're releasing new classes and building out the game world, but there's no content in it yet. After buying the game drunk one night and playing for an hour, I'm not confident this will go anywhere good.
Hey LazyPeon, enjoying the videos mate! Have you by any chance done a review of Kenshi? Its an indie game, still in Alpha. Would like to know what you think.
Just from looking at your failed attacks I'd assume you're supposed to hold the attack button and release to attack? Clicking wasn't working and that might explain why.
This is a very interesting game, the black death era always intrigued me when it comes to history. I hope this game does well. I feel like it might be more of a "online single player RPG" rather than an mmo
You're dissapointed in the perma death mechanic? That's what makes this game amazing. Hard core players love perma death. It makes the game more exciting imo.
actually, there's a lot of things you could interact with in this game. Whether it is combat, gathering, crafting etc. most of it works except the merchant class. just gotta know your survival skills, man.
Please oh please try Skyrim, preferably with mods such as i need food and water ( use nexus). I know it is it not really what you usually do, but if you would consider it I would be grateful. Also, I love what you do. The brutal honesty paired with a soothing voice comes together in a fantastic channel. ^_~
This game seems to have a lot of potential but im worried the devs have bitten off more than they can chew if its in early access already and still in this state. Hopefully they don't abandon it and just leave it to make as much money on steam as they can :/
There's slight perma-death. You lose all inventory, money, and un spent skill points. You keep everything in your house, and your skills. So you can save some of your progression. And bored in 40 minutes? I have over 80 hours logged and i'm still having a lot of fun. This game is NOT new user friendly, but if you stick around and get used to the game it's very rewarding, there's a lot more to do then what he reviewed.
Hi Peon, As much as I appreciate the honestly of your review, I feel like you missed a bunch of content in this game. Yeah there isn't "that much" to do in the game. But there is still is plenty you can do. There is a crafting system in the game, a leveling system in the game, and the combat system, while is highly difficult at the moment, actually is not impossible. I get it, the game is not a "play for an hour and understand everything" but it's very unfair to play this game and give it a review without even figuring out the whole game. Anyway, I just want the people who watch this video to know there is more to the game. Thanks for the review.
