Defiance is a fun one because depending on how you classify an inversion, Defiance has either 2, 3, or 4 inversions! Do you classify the banana roll as one or two inversions? And what about the twisted top hat, that sure does get close to flipping you upside down! What do you think?

If I had to guess, I think the accident on Haunted Mine Drop might’ve had something to do with why they went with OTSRs. Even if the ride could’ve run safely with lap bars, it gives that extra feeling of security for the GP.

I mean, if your negligence kills a like 11 year old, yeah, you should probably take a little extra precaution. I don't think it's helpful to label it as "GP" to demand parks take these sort of steps if they have a history like that. If I owned the park I would have just shut down right then.

Someone already said it, but the Haunted Mine Drop accident probably led to the OTSRs on Defiance. To help with insurance, PR, and GP ease of mind

Glenwood Cavers is such an awesome small park! I agree with everything you said especially that the swing is the best ride there. I’ve never been more terrified, in the best way. 😂 it’s a very unique park and I loved my day there.

That red coaster in the background set off alarm bells for me. I thought "that looks just like thunderbolt at Celebration City..." Sure enough, when the park closed up they moved it here. Celebration City was a great sister park to Silver Dollar City, I miss it a lot. I'd love to see a video talking about that park some time.

That’s why I didn’t like the maverick at CP because of those hard shoulder restrains, haven’t ridden since the change to the soft ones

I wish I could have ridden this but it was still under construction the when I went - Mine Drop was also closed at the time...still an amazing place and a great time though

Just rode this today, and besides Defiance, even the centripetal swing and ferris wheel rides for kids are intimidating when you’re over 7,000 feet and dangling over the chasm. There’s also an enclosed cage drop ride “Crystal Tower”. Funniest words I’ll hold over the gf’s head the rest of her life: “You looked like you needed a break, and I thought Crystal Tower was going to be a kid’s geology exhibit!”

It must be the footers that make it so rough considering how new it is. Shellraiser is rough as well because its indoors and the footers are different than most Eurofighters.

I visited Glenwood caverns at the end of July this year, and I was very disappointed with the roughness on defiance. I absolutely applied the park for their efforts in installing this coaster, and I completely appreciate the efforts that it took to construct it and it’s limited accessibility. However, being that it is a Gerstlauer, it is already at a disadvantage for roughness, but with the over the shoulder restraints, it really exemplified the headbanging and would have been 10 times better with a lap bar like he would see on many other hero fighters. My favorite coaster at this park is the Alpine coaster and it’s not even close. I really appreciate that defiance is there, but I just did not enjoy it as much as I wish I could have.

I live in Colorado and drove from Denver to ride this last year. I got a headache after riding it twice because of the head-banging. The view is spectacular, though

I have about 100 credits so far and this one ended up being the second most painful ride I've ridden so far. (First would be the Ninja at Six Flags St Louis). The head banging was beyond painful. Feel like you're going to get cauliflower ear from it.

One thing I don't understand is that Gerslauer has had rattle and headbanging on almost all of their coasters for years. Why would they not either switch to a lapbar or find what the issue is that continues to plague all of their coasters. They would be even more loved if they could fix this issue.

I personally think you may have road Saw on a bad day, cause I have rides on it that are biter smooth, mine in the summer had like one jolt, that one into the last brakes

We all know the Euro-Fighters can use lap bars despite their inversions and hang time. I wish they'd just do that going forward with all of their new builds. It's more comfortable, allows for somewhat larger guests and eliminates headbanging if the coaster gets rough or features tight turns. The enthusiast community would like them for the freer sensation and better potential for airtime but the overall guest experience is better for virtually everyone if they get ride of the OTSRs.

At the end of the day, it is up to the park to decide whether or not to do a lap bar or OTSR’s. Gerstlauer offers either.

Yeah, head banging is not an issue if you're tall. Instead, the restraint tends to come down hard on your shoulders..

IMO Defiance was a headbanger of disappointment. Drove from MN when it opened and 2 rides were enough. Left with a headache.
