As an ICU Nurse for 30+ years , nurses who have this attitude, assertive and vocal-would be the one fighting everybody else in the hospital , from doctors to dietary aides , to give their patients the very best care.
I don’t see the connection between being disrespectful to coworkers and giving good care to patients… 🤔 like you can have a good attitude AND be a good nurse lol
You’re absolutely right but Taking a break, which everyone is entitled to, having someone sign off the Morphine which they took , these are not disrespectful IMO .Sometimes nurses come across as disrespectful with each other just because they don’t want to waste time talking and just want to get to their patients. If she’s disrespectful, she would have called the supervisor and the hospital security to report that nurse about the Morphine.
@@ramsey6394 you can but you have to remember not every nurse is in an amazing, glorious, heavenly work setting. Some are really driven over the edge on purpose. And definitely, there are some disrespectful, conniving colleagues that only deserve disrespect in return.
Because smiling in your face and give you an extra pillow won't save your life or keep you alive. It is the RN who will go straight down to Pharmacy and directly ask where is their patient's pain med. The RN who is not afraid to call back the meanest Doctor and tell them what order to write (sometimes RN know more than the Dr.). The RN who will get security AND the police to remove the abusive partner. The RN who won't let someone take advantage of their CNA. I can go on. The take no crap RN does that, not the 💕😁🤓🥰😍 RN
Bro I wish my mom was like this. The people at her job take advantage of her cause she’s too nice. I literally have to remind her “no” is an answer she can respond with.
I also have same issue I know people take advantage and remind myself many times to say no but then I do not. I really want to change myself because I have got hurt many times already
I like nurses like this. As a patient, these are the nurses that helped me get out of the hospital faster. I swear I’ve waited for hours for the doctor to bring me my release forms a few times. These are the nurses that made sure I got what I need and want. These are the nurses that made damn sure nobody else was slacking cause they ain’t cleaning up anybody else’s mistakes anymore! I appreciate you!
Especially in the Children's Hospital when there are patients in the hallways, it's crazy busy, patients waiting over 6 hours before seeing a doctor, and when they say you will be discharged. You're still waiting for over an hour and occupying a bed? This kind of nurse is amazing! I love assertive nurse techs also. Especially when doing the IVs for my daughter. Children's Hospital staff are awesome!
Ngl I think my brief medical career has ruined me professionally because I’m like this in every other job I’ve had since lmao. “Hey-“ “I am not clocked in.”
Same. And every interview I have after my medical career, I always ask how high they place employee wellness and when I get the job they are like 'we never had anyone ask us that before'.
This is normal. It happens after you work in a ward that is understaffed and has too many patients assigned to one nurse. Seen all my seniors go through it, then I did. When your health goes down because of this, this is the mentality you develop. And its great. Years of being a people pleaser and a yes person got me more tired than accepting revolting working conditions.
Its not 'treating people badly'. Its making sure that people do their job properly and not half-ass it, leaving it for others to pick up after you. Also teaches people to do things correctly coz if not, they suffer medico-legal issues.
Theres definitely a fine line between treating someone bad and being assertive when it comes to job descriptions and what your colleagues or juniors are meant to do but don't do.
I had to leave healthcare because of trash working conditions... at my old hospital.. 7 patients was "understaffed for nurses" ... while CNAs were up to 22+ pts each.. and helping wasnt part of the nurses job..... burn out was soo bad.. that i was getting too "aggressive" and stopped caring overall... anytime i brought the situation up to the unit manager all i got was " its mind over matter.. tomorrow is a new shift; just come in with a smile.." .... being told that... i was done.. i left...i knew i would have killed myself if i kept working that hell for $14.11/hr.
Not really tho bc morphine is a narcotic and you have to document everything. "Cover your ass" because medical workers can get in huge trouble if things are not signed, dated, time given, etc.

As a Nurse Admin, these are the best Nurses. They give the best care. It takes the patient a day to get past the attitude then they start calling the front desk asking for that specific Nurse. 😂
This is true for most jobs...I'm not really a morning person and I can never understand how people at work can be so chatty in the early morning...like.leave me the fuck alone in peace for a few hours till I can mentally wake up.
I'm not in the healthcare industry but I work night shift in the BPO industry and I can wholeheartedly agree about the chattiness of morning shift people.
For real!!!!!!!! Its so grating to the ears!!! ESPECIALLY when its all negativity and just straight vile attitudes about coming in early like hello???????????
@@Jasmine-lj8qw It is a dose of morphine that was not all given to that particular patient. When you have "waste," You can't por it back from where you got it because it's considered unclean now.
@@pman2916 you "waste" it, meaning the extra must be signed off, they input it into the system that lets them know "so and so nurse is signing off __mg of morphine as extra/waste" and then input their card or code. There has to be another nurse watching them to ensure it's disposed of safely and make sure they dont do anything sketchy like stealing and whatnot.
My home with a red headed mom prepared me for nursing....and boot camp 😂. I never got upset at boot camp. After mom, boot camp was like summer camp. From there, nursing was pretty easy...well, the attitudes anyway. I became the nurse telling doctors off about acting like they didn't know what time of day it was.....the time THIS nurse is on😂.
My dad used to be a nurse(he was a meat cutter for 20+ years before that). They kept trying to make him a boss, and he would do anything he could to get out of it. He finally retired to get his point across. This ‘character’ was him.
This is accurate I have a coworker that asked for he time off 7 months in advance in January for a scheduled and paid for trip in a JULY, and they still made her jump through hoops to find coverage for herself even though that's not her job, otherwise it would not be approved.
It’s so important to recognize that nurses need to get rest, food, and time off too. Burn out is very real and sometimes you won’t realize it until you have a breakdown or get sick. I’m so exhausted and i didn’t start defining boundaries until after 14 years of working as a nurse.
I'm on board with everything except cutting off the other nurse giving report. I've been a nurse 9 years, and if you cut me off while I am giving you valuable info on OUR patient (mutual responsibility), you are on my sh**list.
@bou6134 Yeah, but in my experience, the nurses who cut me off proceed to ask the exact question I was about to answer in my report. They're usually just needlessly impatient and think they know everything. 🤷♀️ I'm don't give slow reports. If you have a problem with my report, that is a you problem.
@TrueImmortality I SECOND THAT! And as the patient in the bed, I end up literally having to correct the new nurse on literally everything because they have absolutely everything wrong from not getting an accurate and full report! I can't tell you how many times I've heard "I didn't know that! They didn't tell me that" 🙄😒🤦🏾♀️
I had a supervisor that ALWAYS denied my requests for time off; he'd be like, "Someone might call in." I would be, "How is that MY problem?" He'd counter with, "If it's slow, you can leave early." Dude! Not the point!
I’m a CNA and my under eyes look just like this! I’m also the cheery and upbeat worker which apparently gets really annoying to coworkers, but the residents and patients love it.
Keep being you, honey. This is me alll the way. And I kept having issues w the ladies at work just not liking me. Until I realized, misery LOVESSS company. And if you do what you can to be a kind, compassionate human, that’s all you can do. The people who hate on that have a heart issue, not an issue with you. Best wishes! ♥️♥️
This was me working in Australia during covid before I wrote a page long fuk you email to my HR after I done the work & shifts of 5 staff..120 hours per week no days off for months at a time & the audacity to call me at 5am to stat at 6am after getting to bed at 3am after a 22 hour shift...I have ptsd & work in warehousing now 😂
Nurses have it rough and i understand some of them lash out sometimes. I haven't had encountered rude nurses so far all of the nurses that took care of a loved one were angels i tell you
Idk why but we do get such a bad rap when honestly every nurse I know would give her left arm for someone else. I do think you get what you give. Only times I wasn’t polite was after pt made racist comments to me, or sexually assault me. Both have happened. 😢
@@kellythomas6507 Tell me about it. Just because you're willing to stay once they automatically think you'll stay all the time. Admin doesn't care, they'd rather you die and replace you.
I love how he nails every staffing position on the payrolls. And I'm not even a nurse and never worked in Healthcare but feel like I have watching these videos 😂😂😂😂
Honestly, the nurses with this behavior were the best at their job. They could do everybody's job, if needed. They learned quickly to set boundaries, still. And i loved them, they were hilarious to me. And when these kinds of nurses noticed you laughing at their ways..thats when they actually smile back. I just understand them ❤
That PTO thing, I felt that. Because I told my HR that one time. Like, I’m not going to be here. That “request” was me letting you know I AM NOT AVAILABLE. And I’m not even a nurse lol.
Then you should. Its called setting boundaries. The morning one was a bit rude but everything else was on point and totally valid. Its OK to stand up for yourself and make sure you get what you need to function. Take your breaks - I assume they don't pay you for that time so continuing to work is working for free and you're also not insured, so anything happens to you, garunteed they would cover their own arse. But I digress...hopefully its clear that I'm offering encouragement for you to step out of your shell in this regard. People might grumble but you will feel better
This was an overnight girl I worked with Maria lol but let me tell you she was the best to work alongside , well-versed in literally everything and didn’t take no crap for me the managers I took a lot of notes from her she taught me everything
As a tech nurses like this are my favorite, they put other nurses ( mainly the young ones) in their place because many of them like to abuse and overwork techs.
Omg 🤣 i watched this like so many times.. each time i was on the floor rolling lol .. especially the first one lol 🤣🤣🤣🤣 also that name Geena and attitude lol 🤣😆😅
This has become my mom over the years that she’s been a nurse. It’s crazy cuz she’s nice and we’re just vibing at the mall on her day off then her work calls to ask her to come in and her attitude and whole demeanor SWITCHES SO FAST and she’s just like “absolutely the hell not, no, it’s me day.”
I think women who can firmly set their boundaries and prioritize their self worth in a kind way is top tier and needs to be protected at all costs! "No, thank you I'm not interested in staying an extra 4 hours." Or "I understand a mistake was made on my end but you don't have to speak to me like that, thank you." Or "I work hard like the rest of the staff and I don't think its fair that I'm expected to take on an even bigger work load due to lack of senority." This!!!! This is top tier. Having an attitude all the time for NO REASON 🙄 will make you enemies and harder to vouch for. Whereas being pleasant, kind, jovial, and slow to anger makes you more believable and likeable. I honestly think some of you take the easy way out. I've had stressful days just like everyone else, I've had work bullies, people not like me over the smallest things, etc. At some point you decide if you're gonna let others influence your character. I don't have to get loud, obnoxious, or throw down to put you in your place. I said no, thank you. 😌 This is how you collect your peace. Can you honestly say after having an attitude you're not pressed? Because once you guys retell the story a lot of you sound mad at the person you're confiding in. 💅🏽
The break one I can 100% get behind. You gotta take care of yourself too. Can’t pour from an empty cup. Same with the PTO. Me putting in for PTO is me telling you I’m not going to be here those days. Finding my own coverage is not my problem.
I'm the first one for sure. People tell me good morning at 6am all cheery and I'm like 😡 Or even later in the day if someone's too happy or positive I'll be like "that happiness is not what we do here..." 😑
My cousin is a Nurse and I am a Nurse assistant and we both left the NHS as it’s not worth our mental health for the extremely poor wage!. Now she’s doing deliveries for rich people!. I miss my job as I loved it but the extremely poor treatment is not worth it!.
This is me in every other job after being the complete opposite when working in a hospital, apart from the rude morning attitude, I don't do that. It's really just having boundaries because if stuff goes wrong, everybody will cover their own arse - especially where you are responsible for the welfare of others.
Imagine the burden that for a nurse to have boundaries, one needs to be a btch to everyone else. That’s when you know you chose the wrong career❤ love to all who are struggling ❤🎉
I’m not even a nurse and I don’t even start at 6am with my job but that first one is me 😂 I don’t want to be spoken to and have the small talk first thing when I get to the office! 😂
