Deflecting Hardtear Quality build invasions w/ Milady - Elden Ring, Shadow of the Erdtree DLC 

Are there any weapons you've found that just don't work for deflections? It seems like a fun idea but guard counters are so easy to dodge with that sound effect. Serious pvpers will back off as soon as they hear it.

@@fotuto13 yeah that's an issue. sometimes if you see that someone knows to dodge them, you gotta try delaying them a bit to hopefully roll-catch them. I've found that the larger the weapon, the less likely it is to hit people, but it's also more satisfying when it happens. and for example colossal swords roll-catch people who roll away immediately, iirc. P.S. also I guess that the smaller the weapon the less viable it is to deflect as an invader, since stamina consumption is definitely there even with the greatshield talisman. as for weapons that do work well, I like them on light greatswords of course, and on katanas and great katanas (the latter are slow), but you gotta stack up poise to make it less likely to be interrupted. another weapon type with an interesting guard counter that I noticed yesterday is (are?) backhand blades. the normal ones do multiple slashes and the smithscript cirque does a throw attack (that sometimes misses, though) which maybe gets even boosted by the smithing talisman, who knows. I'd need to test it.

thank you >_> but the fails were many, of course 😅 deflects become almost useless when 2 or more people are on you, or against spells spam. I'll eventually invade with a build that has the erdtree greatshield in the offhand to deal with spells >_>

man I hope so, for the sekiro part. I never played bloodborne, on the other hand.

BLoodborne quickstep should be the default dodge and THAT game should allow us to cancel out of our dodge animation by guarding

I sadly doubt that will happen, but one can hope.

thank you >_> lately I've switched off the night shield though. it's just too risky to counter ranged stuff like that when it's spammed, or when there's multiple people throwing ranged stuff at the same time (which is most of the times). I'm using the smithscript shield, but without spamming it, unless someone is VERY annoying. it's also good at finishing off people who run away, which the night shield isn't that good at (the "uncharged" AoW fires a small projectile that deals little damage and doesn't have a good range).

yeah definitely, the wing stance R2 misses way too often. I did use the black hammer, I have a few clips with it that I'll put in one of the next videos. I didn't use it (with deflects) nearly as much as other weapons though.

yeah, I eventually, uhm, stumbled upon large quantities of the materials for them.

it's the ash of war. they gave it the same sound that guard counters have. when you have it it's like having two different guard counters that you can choose between.

@@manab787 I don't know, really, I only take it out when I know someone fires ranged attacks >_> it has so little physical damage negation and stability that it doesn't make much sense to use it in melee. unless you're very confident with deflects maybe. but careful when more than 1 person is on you (but that goes for deflects with anything short of greatshields, I guess).

with stuff that can't be blocked like blind spot (ugh...) and the sword of night's AoW, and stuff that partially goes through shields like scythes and, yes, the sword of night. also Royal Knight's Resolve can help, and the hammer talisman too. especially on big weapons.

yep. but quality builds aren't super strong still at this level unless you really give up on some endurance and don't increase any "damage stat" other than STR and DEX. level 200 is great for a quality build, you'll hit like a truck. by the way, I don't even use the 18 points of faith I've put into the build, in this video (I only really need 12 for bestial vitality, flame cleanse me and the minor elemental defense buffs). I eventually removed 4 points to stay at 14 so that I can use leda's sword to unbuff people, by equipping the +5 faith talisman to get to 19.
