Shit that’s badass will never not be bad ass. I still listen to the Death album “Human” and get fired up every single time. Just like I do for “My own Summer” and Floods...,old school metal is my crack cocaine.
Well damn I stand corrected... I thought Adrenaline was Drop Db (I think that was Around the Fur now). I know I used to play a lot of these songs off Adrenaline in drop tuning, but it must have been in drop D (Bored is easier to play in drop than standard for a teenager lol) but it's been years... I KNOW white pony was all drop C, and I know I used to have 2 guitars tuned in Drop C and Drop D (or Db) to play a bunch of Deftones and SOAD songs back then... I guess I never played Bored the exact way Steph does... Obviously he stopped playing 6 strings almost 20 years ago, so as in this video he just tunes his low string to E for these old Adrenaline songs...
@@evan6534 there’s a video where he says that all of adrenaline was in E standard, drop c # for around the fur, drop c white pony, and then kept going down each album.
Yes I think I remember that actually - still amazes me when I think back on some of these songs. I only had 2 guitars back then, so I just adapted to be able to play as much as possible in 2 tunings 😂
After almost 20 years of trying to figure out how to play that opening riff (since playing E5/F5 power chords just felt weird), seeing this finally gives me some closure in my life. 😂
@@DaveThomson there is an interview, I think on the Dunlop channel, where Steph describes the tunings from the albuns, and he stated there it's standard, and with the next albums it went down by half or whole steps
@@kkrsnn5632 I'm pretty familiar with the tunings to most of the albums as a player. But I've had countless arguments on this riff. There's even how to videos on RU-vid that show it in drop d
The fact that this man is wearing an old school Misery Signals shirt, ripping a song that got me into Deftones and ultimately Misery Signals. FUCK YES!!!!
This song and engine no 9 reminds me of sneaking out going to alternative clubs back in the 90s you’d hear the starting riffs of these classics and run to the dance floor. Good times
I just love the fact that the Misery Signals logo is the Edmonton Oilers logo, considering where the band kinda sorta technically originated from, despite being based in Madison. Misery Signals is fucking incredible and HORRIBLY underrated.
@@_mnejing Misery Signals is actually based in Milwaukee, not Madison. They do some Milwaukee sports merch too, they just put up a Bucks shirt. Jesse and Stu were from Edmonton hence the Oilers merch.
@@kostniymozg He actually plays through his amp raw without any ADR mixing. That's done after they're finished filming, they go back in editing, and just drop the actual studio audio into the video over his playing.
Espectacular, al fin despues de tanto esperarlo lo toco, mi tema favorito de Deftones (tema con el que conoci a la banda en el año 1996 y me hice fanatico de ella) junto con Minerva. Gracias Gracias Gracias 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷. Spectacular, finally after waiting so long I play it, my favorite Deftones song (song with which I met the band in 1996 and became a fan of it) together with Minerva. Thank you thank you thank you 🇦🇷🇦🇷🇦🇷
What a tune ! Thank you for taking us back to the good old days man. My favorite Deftones album but Fireal was my favorite track! “I want to be much, then more… while I watch you”
Nice seven string adaptation sir. I've just got a seven string last year and doing the same thing to my six string material.. same note. But so much thicker.. blew my mind lol
7 Words was my first listen into the world of Deftones which was distributed through CMJ magazine. Saw them in concert 2 week later opening as TBD for Orange 9mm/Korn in VaBeach VA. What a show! One of the highlights of my youth.
Oh being a teenager playing Around the Fur and Adrenaline albums from start to finish... Haven't seen you guys since like 2007 or something and you still play it EXACTLY like the album. Love it man, and thanks for bringing the Deftones channel back to life. Also thanks for being one of my all time greatest guitar inspirations!
Fun to see the evolution from six to eight strings. Always & will be my all time #1 band! Many highs & lows for you guys, & will never forget watching you all grow through Circus Magazine while street skating throughout the 90’s & early 2000’s. Much love & respect!✌🏼
