Nah, the vocals are the only thing that is very far, they are too post grungy and edgy sounding. It sounds more like old chevelle or RED than it does like deftones. The whole interesting thing about deftones is chino using a lot of fry and being on the line between connected singing and spoken word + using a lot of really cool effects and layering to make the sound “new age-y” in nature and as such sounding “sexy”.

It's wild how distinctive and original Chino's style of singing is. It was sick when he'd randomly drop 8 crazy bars of rapping then go back to singing, but he departed that style pretty quickly in the 2000's

This really did nail that early-mid 2000s Deftones sound. As much as this band kinda gets memed their influence has definitely shaped a tonne of the bands that have come up in the past decade or so. I'll always be a fan of Deftones and whilst their first 4 or so albums are easily my go tos I always manage to find stuff even on their later albums that I can really enjoy... they found a rather unique sound against other bands out there and have stood out and are still out there making music today because of it.

Deftones is one of my favorite bands…I remember Chino screaming in my face as he leaned over the crowd and I reached up and touched his leg like a total fan girl. I think they were playing Engine No. 9. This tribute to them sounds pretty damn good!! Good job!!

As a big Chevelle fan, this sounds more “wonder what’s next” than “Vena Sera” to me. Wonder what’s next has more of that nu-metal esc sound while Vena Sera sounds a bit more refined and alt metal esc to me. I can definitely hear some very early days Chevelle sprinkled in here at times!

Same here but you need to recognize it's extremely difficult to imitate Deftones character... This sounds more like Chevelle, voice is ok but the drums have totally another feeling and everything seems to be unconnected and empty of feeling. Obviously this is just a fast experiment and it's pretty good as it is but for me I'm appreciating Deftones music even more. Take care!

I bought the around the fur album when i was 16 and i was fuuuuucking addicted to that cd.. i literally listened to it every chance I got for months and months..i knew every word every guitar part. Around the Fur is in my top 5 albums of all time and I still play it throughout the year..Im glad you did this..This song is incredible btw.
