Deftones is a unique band. There is no way to label it any subgenre, be it Nu Metal, Alternative Metal, Experimental Metal. They have their own musical genre. These are deep, reflective lyrics that always take us on a journey to another dimension along with Chino's brilliantly soft and aggressive voice at the same time. They have already won a Grammy and been nominated several other times. It's one of my favorite and best bands of all time. The next one you could react to, Rach, could be "Change", "Sextape" or "Rosemary", others masterpieces, as well as several other songs of theirs like "Minerva", "Hole in the Earth", "Diamond Eyes", "Ohms", "You've Seen the Butcher", "Prayers/Triangles", etc.
@@victor75208I love Nu Metal just like I love Deftones but they are not Nu Metal, they have some elements of Nu Metal, especially in the first albums but they also have characteristics of experimental, hard rock, heavy, alternative. Deftones is a combination of several Metal subgenres that make them unique and have their own musical genre.
@@t.b.m.b. the general consensus is that Nu Metal covers a lot of bands that fuse metal, rock, and hip hop and i guess that's accurate but for me Nu Metal was always commercial bands like kid rock and limp bizkit who didn't emerge as organically as the Deftones or RATM or Faith No More.
You should try Nazareth by Sleep Token, it's a similar feel in the sense of intimate with the vocals but it's still metal, but it's about murder as well lol
This is nice to see. You are probably my daughters age, but she was raised on Deftones. She is 26 now and still thinks Chino is her BF. Lol.... I was working heavily in the local scene when Korn and Deftones etc. were just taking off. To this day Deftones is a huge part of my own playing and creation of music. You might like his new band as well, Crosses. More Deftones please, your reactions are great.
Owhh yesss, you gotta check out more Deftones, you will love it all! Their songs, Cherry Waves, Rosemary, Royal are some suggestions from their other albums
I like when you realized the song was almost over there was an "oh no" moment.. ha ha. Great song by a very unique band! Listen to Rocket Skates next to hear the other side of Deftones :)
Deftones been around for a super long time, back when I was a kid.. so its strange to me hearing how they're all of a sudden super relevant out of nowhere
yep, kids today are vibing with Deftones in a major way... and carrying the influences into new music too (check out Jane Remover's Cage Girl for example)
That's because some of us did parenting right :) My 24 year old is loving them now and tells me " I remember you playing this when I was a kid, but I didnt appreciate it like I do now"
Imo Deftones is the result of California Latinos being big on bands like The Smiths and Depeche back in late 80’s but then starting a Nu-Metal band in the 90’s 🔥
Knife Party from deftones will melt your ears in a good way Mission Sunset from Palms/ with Chino Moreno , will melt your heart in a good way . killer vocals in both imo
for me it's the way the high scream shout gradually falls down into his lower register and the note begins to fry and disintegrate. It's fn magic. Powerful and sexy as heck.
Will always be in my top 5 fave albums all time. WP still sounds fresh to this day, and had on repeat for 24 years. Deftones is like the band no one seems to remember or want to talk about.....but the ones who know know. Passenger with Maynard from TOOL from this album is amazing, and Knife Party.....whole album is lit. Their Adrenaline album is also disgustingly good....try 7 Words.
don't forget this about music, it never ever EVER matters what the lyrics are about, songs are an auditory experience, how it sounds is literally THE ONLY thing that matters... this is a new fact for some of you
u need to see them live omfg.. have seen them live about 5 + times and never disapoint.. the lead sing has another bnd called crosses u need to check out, keep up the work.
I used to drive to work for 3 hours every night. This album was always on repeat. It was magic, blasting down the motorway in the dark with this blasting out the speakers.
Chino has always given me those Bjork vibes. Both have insanely versatile and varied voices and they can flirt with that chaotic edge without losing control. "Prince" from Diamond Eyes has a good varied showcasing of Chino's range; or if you're interested in Bjork, "Hyperballad" is a classic.
Amé tu cara . Sin decir nada tus expresiones dijeron: “dame más de esto” y “no quiero que esto termine jamás” . Frases y caras que se dan mucho en el sexo por cierto .
My favourite band since i heard them at age 15.. im now 38, Such an original band. I grew up listening to Sade as my Dad is a huge fan of hers, when i heard Deftones it reminded me alot of her which is what initially drew me to Chino's vocals.
White Pony is a sonic masterpiece, the production by Terry Date is phenomenal, and Digital Bath is probably the cornerstone given how great those drums sound and how much space is in the mix. Deftones are sonic opium.
I love seeing people enjoying Deftones and if they have a singing background i love it even more cause if its your first time listening to Chino, you are at the doors of discovering something that is truly unique, out of musical industry standards, very visceral and powerful but also delicate and subtle.
Omg....is this her first time listening to this!??? It'll hook you for sure. LOVE them, love all their music and have seen them many times in different states. Ive been a huge fan since 1996!
It’s always fun seeing younger people have the exact same reflective sigh right after this song - same as what we did back when it came out lol. 👍 us millennials appreciate y’all Gen Z for checking out our era.
I got super into them when i was 18, always knew of them since i was maybe 5 or 6, but got BIG into them at 18. Always associated their music with when I started getting really serious with my girlfriend at the time, now wife. Their music brings back nostalgia of all the late nights we spent alone in the car together in the woods or just being intimate when I had the house alone and to ourselves. Real life highschool sweetheart scenarios. I will always love Deftones for being the soundtrack to many beautiful memories between my wife and myself.
I was born early 80's so I grew up with some 80's music, through the 90s and then late teens into the early 2000's when Deftones were really popular. I saw them on tour with Taproot and Incubus. Also saw Chevelle a few times. Incredible experiences and to me the last time any really good music was made.
It's still amazing but when I was 20 and it came out I got struck by a lightning. For it's just youth (life) energy, sex and love.. it's describing the best things about being alive 🔥❤️🙏🏼
Be Quiet and Drive is like the big brother to Digital Bath (musically) - the atmospheric wall of sound with breathy vocals and a timbre akin to an engine....the vibe of driving at night is unmatched, just pure atmosphere. Deftones fans plz help: I saw Team Sleep in Manchester and Chino performed this rap and I've never been able to find it, it drives me nuts...it wasn't part of the set list, but he absolutely phased into another dimension of talent.
Oh, i remember going to the white pony tour. I was in high school. I was so obsessed with the deftones. I was always on the front row. I think i saw them a total of 6 times.
Favorite band since i was 20. I am now 44 lol. Seen them maybe 12-15 times and during a team sleep concert he threw his guitar out in the crowd and i caught it still have it. Amazing band. Chino's side project bands like team sleep, palms and crosses are fucking amazing.
Every time I hear this song, it takes me back...when I heard it blasting in her car as my daughter drove home from school, carload of teenagers singing it, I was one proud Papa.
