Abe Cunningham is a hell of an underrated drummer. He isn't the flashiest and neither the typical metal drummer, but that's what makes him special. Man got grooves for days and creative beats, he definitely pulls from a lot of other styles of music like jazz and funk giving him a very distinct voice as a metal drummer.

The whole WP album is great! 😎🤘 Chino brings such a unique vocal element to any track and the drumming almost feels like the front man on a Deftones song. If you liked this, you will enjoy "Knife Party"

Entombed, cherry waves, sextape, xerxes, kimdracula, knife party, Rosemary. Literally just pick one for your next deftones song, they got so many atmospheric bangers that make you feel like you are high or floating.

This and "Be Quiet and Drive" are two of my favorites. But they are different from everything deftones creates.

They've always been a big fav of mine since high school (I'm almost 36 btw) and they have never budged from that spot for me. Also FOR SURE need to check out Chino's (vocalist) other group(s) "Crosses" {personal fav of mine as of late} and "Team Sleep." Crosses just dropped a new album earlier this year.

I agree. This is their best song in my opinion, with "Passenger" being a close second. The whole White Pony album is fire.

This was actually the first song I ever heard by Deftones. My brother made me a mix CD of different songs that he thought I would like. And one late night I couldn’t sleep, so I listen to the CD and found this little gem towards the end. I loved it so much that I included it in an audio drama that I made at the time. Of course, this was not released to the public, so I was able to get away with actually putting that song in there. It was for my own listening pleasure so I included it but it’s such a cool song and I was right smack in the middle of my high school days when I discovered it.

If you like the rides that Tool songs take you on, "Rosemary" by Deftones is one of my favorites. I don't want to give away the meaning behind the song, though. The prose at play is so evocative that, like Maynard's writing, you can interpret in many ways and be at peace with your own take. It's powerful, dramatic, beautifully composed, and an audio journey. Give it a shot, you won't regret it.

Digital bath is easily one of the best songs I've ever heard in my life. I would love to see your reaction of one of their saddest/darkest toned (no pun intended) songs "Battle-Axe"

To me, their very first album „Adrenaline“ is still unbeaten. Been listening to that since 1995.

Definitely regarded as one of their best, the next track on this album, Elite, actually won a Grammy for best metal song that year. It’s heavyyy but epic

If you like Digital Bath and the atmosphere it creates, I'd say check out Beauty School and Sextape from Diamond Eyes and Rosemary from Koi. I think you'd also like Cherry Waves from Saturday Night Wrist. They are by far my favorite band. I love that you loved this one too. Digital Bath is my favorite White Pony song for sure. One of my favorites of all even.

This song is a whole-ass vibe. "Bath" is fitting, since it just washes over you. I know there's something else that hits me the same way, but it's too early in the morning for my brain to work. I'll let you know if I think of it, haha.

I was in high school when Nu Metal came on the scene and was always a Korn fan and thought Deftones was an imitation and never gave theyre music a listen...im 40 now and stumbled on the video for Hole In The Earth late last year and I'm kicking myself for all the years I missed out on the amazing songs Deftones were making, now theyre my favorite band to listen to...better late than never I suppose 🤟🖤

So glad you loved this. When this came out over 20 years ago, it became my go-to song to introduce new listeners. deftones have a wide range, but a very distinct, unique sound. And I found that if any new listener didn't like this, they probably wouldn't like anything else. They go from very soft and sultry to loud and hard all in the flow of this song, but it hits home. As usual, the lyrics are a different side lol, but the overall sound is great and draws you in. Thanks again for all that you do.

Deftones - You’ve seen the butcher is one of my favorites and this is right up there. Before I knew what the song was about it hit home with me because I had this girl that was a friend I hung out with a lot and I wanted it to be more.

I’ve never heard you explain what kind of sound system you have in the ol 4Runner, but as soon as I saw the title of this video, I knew it would make the playlist. This whole album is such a mood.

Only the Deftones can be the Deftones. You can’t replicate it. There’s an ethereal quality but it’s all tight. Chino is an amazing singer.

Year 2000, I'm 20 and working at a tiny glass box of a gas station down by the train tracks across the steet from a gay bar. My town is the oldest town west of the Mississippi river. At night it is very charmed. Driving under the freeway viaduct, headed out of town to my parents' house after work, this album is what's playing in the old Dodge Aries. Be Quiet And Drive (far away), Knife Prty, Change (in the house of flies), Engine no. 9, just to name a few. The album this song is on is full of soaring hooks and dark ambiance reminiscent of the dirty numetal scene house parties of the time. On this album, I found the best breakdowns are on "Korea" and "Elite". Holistically, it was a perfect album prior to the re-release and still good with the back to school song, although nobody can decide if it should be first, and ruin Feticiera's original opening, or last by replacing Pink Maggit which is the basis for Back To School (mini maggit) being a remix, ruining the ending. But as a standalone track, BTS is a banger.

Deftones are the key to chill with an edge... if you havent yet, check out "Be Quiet and Drive" or "Around the Fur". Enjoy 🤘

Probably my favorite song by them. All the pieces come together on this one. Like others have said, the entire White Pony album is solid from top to bottom. And because I know you love Maynard/Tool, you'll have to listen to Passenger at some point (assuming you haven't already). It's one of the few times Maynard did guest vocals for someone else, giving them his own stamp of approval so-to-speak.

Definitely one of my top favorite bands. Their earlier albums were heavier, but definitely check out the whole White Pony album.

Hell yeah man…this is my jam. I remember getting a bootleg of this whole cd from some little shop in Ocean Coty, MD…a month before it came out. Me and all my boys were so stoked! This whole cd is an absolute masterpiece. Much love my brother. ✌🏽😎🤘🏽
