Of all the covers I've heard of this song this is the only one for me. As much as I love The Cars I really have to admit that Deaftones just add to an already special song and make it even better. I love this song
Heard the original today randomly. Didn't realise this was a cover before. I love some of their 80s covers. Chinos vocals crank up the intensity, and the more modern synths and samples just given a richer sound. Would like to here some covers OF Deftones in an 80s style

i think the only thing deftones missed was the piano. if you hear the original song in the beginning compared to this. it actually has more melody variety than this. it would really sound very 80s. he does have the piano but not the electrical one only the regular. not shaming on deftones or anything just felt like they could of gave it more variety on this song. I been a deftones fan for a while and then when I looked back into the original song compared to this. ngl I perferred the original but on this one you can understand what he is saying a lot clearer than the original. the great thing about deftones and nirvana is that they if I am right focus on their instrumental structures a lot before they do the lyrics. it's possibly the other way around because I forgot but I know they mainly focus on something first before they release a song. I know you can't make it sound exactly like the original because it would be considered a copyright and he probably had permission from the original artist to recreate this song.
