Do you actually think Elon is a 'bright mind' or is that your sense of humour? I've been struggling to tell with a few comments made in the past about him... Not some sort of criticism of you btw, just genuinely curious, because IMO these two minds are a few tiers apart - just wondering what your actual perspective is :) Edit: your answer (if you provided one) wouldn't affect how I use your channel btw. It's one of the best I've found for this sort of content.

the LLM's were able to figure out words just by having a large brain (neural network) and having it look at a lot of text. however, AGI needs general knowledge and common sense, something we get while interacting with the world in our human bodies, growing up from birth in the body while it's growing and changing and interacting with other humans along the way (parents, teachers, friends etc.). they are just trying to patch that problem by learning from the internet and seeing a lot of human behaviour on the internet, a flawed approach in my opinion but maybe with many times more resources than even the brain itself has (10^17 neuron activations per second and over 3 petabytes of storage, something that's not gonna happen anytime soon), then maybe they could brute-force an AGI. although with the source being social media, they're gonna need a lot of new techniques and wayy more power to avoid ridiculous stupidity.

It's not an "elitist" definition of science to say that it needs to be written down, reviewed and communicated. That is really the only way science can properly function. Sure, you could do a bunch of experiments in isolation on a desert island, or in your basement, never publishing a thing, and you might still make some discoveries about objective reality, but the philosophy of science is largely about undermining your own biases, and it helps to have other people reviewing your methods for that. It's also largely understood by most people that science works best when it's globally collaborative, rather than competitive like business, and you're supposed to be in the game of science to further human knowledge as a whole, not simply your own.

The irony of that last statement 😆 _"the greatest trick linear algebra ever pulled was making humans think that [models that run on supposedly non-intelligent linear algebra] are actually intelligent"_

Let’s not forget that Yann won the Turing Award (Nobel price equivalent for CS) together with Geoffrey Hinton & Yoshua Bengio. Of the 3 of them, 2 are not only certain AGI will be here soon, they both are very vocal about the dangers that many would call “doomerism”. Yann is the only one of the three with a financial and professional interest to deny the dangers of AGI and call the systems stupid.

when people call modern AI linear algebra it really shows how little people understand about the topic. That slight worked 10 years ago but not now. So much has changed.

just tell everyone that non-linear algebra will be the next frontier to AI advancement and you will sound like a genius even though you don't know that it will even work or if that's even a thing. Business is business lol

Current neural networks already are nonlinear. Would be pretty stupid and unnecessary if they weren't.
@CvnDqnrU

Activation functions are non linear, if they weren't the entire network would function as only one neuron.
@mr.atomictitan9938
@mr.atomictitan9938 3 месяца назад
@@CvnDqnrU well yes you are right to an extent until we talk about Relu and leaky Relu which are linear activations functions given a specific condition of the x value. Even the identify function is an activation function too but it is not as well used as Relu or leaky Relu

@@beetlejuice5416 I disagree, neural networks use linear algebra to solve for certain problems. Remember y=mx+b?
@beetlejuice5416
@beetlejuice5416 3 месяца назад
@@mr.atomictitan9938 I'm confused, what should I remember about that equation? Yes NNs do some linear algebra operations, but the complexity really arises from linear combinations of nonlinear activation functions. Otherwise you could reduce any NN to one matrix multiplication.

I think that we would have to restructure how we think about AI models to achieve another step to AGI. I have an idea that would take at the very least 1000 years of data collection, so we are probably fine

It is not 'linear' algebra, since you have activation functions. It is 'optimization methods' or 'partial differential equations' for logic gates.

Almost three months since this masterpiece was released, nobody has pointed out that the algorithm that Codeium vomited out is not actually bogosort, but bubble sort. I’m sure I’ll get called out like “hey, you are just nitpicking! AI is here to stay, it just needs more data!”, but this comes to show a bunch of things. I stand my point.
