I'd really like to see lineage and others focus on x86 implementation more too. It'd be nice to basically have a "box" that is an OS broker, basically have a "dummy" terminal that is a screen with peripherals that do what they need to do for touch input networking etc but it's all supplied by the box and you can use a modular approach to hardware/software.

I don't know if this was done on purpose or not but your explanation of Aurora Sotre is a bit off; it makes it sound like it's an alternative *source* of apps, while the app is just a client/frontend for Google Play. Also signing in to this with your Google account is a violation of their ToS, they could ban accounts that do.

Great video as always! About the crashing apps: Are all the necessary permissions granted for the MicroG-related apps? (particularly Signature Spoofing) I also share the same feeling about missing the Android 4 Holo UI. The Android UI has gone backwards a lot. No more transparent Recents or Notification-panel. Many phones nowadays have an OLED screen, why can't we have a "Black Theme" to make use of the contrast benefit?

Not their fault but it kinda sucks they are only/mostly available for EU/NA region, which means they support only certain models and if they support "a lot" of models, some models will not be there. I have a J5 Prime "to waste" so if it bricks I wouldn't mind, to practice flashing and check out the OS. But Lineage has a J7 2015 model only and it's discontinued. eOS only ships within EU and NA. So buying a phone from them wouldn't be feasible either. I was checking Murena webpage and it's very hard (or impossible) to find a link or anything regarding eOS outside of the things they showcase on the webpage or their own shop. There isn't any link either to take you to the page of the project or something in case you want to load it yourself or can't buy their phones. And Iodé is only available for A5 and A7 as lower tier phones. J5 and A22 are not supported. Again, I don't blame them as it would be impossible to do it for every single model of every manufacturer, let alone there are a lot of models that are region specific. It's just frustrating because I can't try anything, and won't risk my current phone. I couldn't buy a new one if it gets bricked.
@sovo1212
@sovo1212 Год назад
The core issue is still the underlying hardware. Still a headache to install whichever OS we want on OUR devices. Also, trying to install a new OS on existing phones doesn't solve the anti-consumer issues of these devices, i.e. the battery is still non-removable, parts are still proprietary, I/O is determined by the manufacturer. We're not getting a solution from Apple, Samsung, Snapdragon, Mediatek, etc. Unless other ARM companies give us a RaspberryPI-like mobile board, RiscV might be the answer in the future.

To say that OpenCamera is not as good as the default Camera app shipped with any phone is not correct. With OpenCamera one can take photos and videos with a much better control that one can only get by using professional cameras. If you say that the zoom is limited, then that is a shortcoming of the phones hardware because they don't have the optics of professional cameras.
@TheLinuxEXP
@TheLinuxEXP Год назад
Not the zoom. The resulting images are worse, even with more control. It doesn’t have the post processing created by the manufacturers to improve images taken by these small sensors, and as such it’s way harder, or even not possible to reach the same level of quality

Cependant avec les ROMs basé sur Lineage OS il peut avoir des problèmes mais j'en suis sur que ca peut marcher très bien en cherchant.
