This is such a powerful moment in Degrassi history. Paige has to be 14 here, just started high school, and is raped at a high school party. This a moment where Paige starts to be take back the moment. I can’t comprehend how Lauren Collins was able to play this moment so well. She did a beautiful job telling this story for girls everywhere.
The line “you took my childhood “ is honestly heartbreaking. Virginity is one of the last things we have from our childhood and the fact that Paige’s was given up forcibly is really unfortunate. I couldn’t even began to imagine how traumatic that would be…
It happens to other people You say "how sad" You say "poor thing" But when it's you it's something else It's everything You'd never believe the nightmares You'll never know the pain you caused You'll never see the scars you left The things you stole Everything lost You took my body tore it in half You took my childhood my heart and my laugh You took everything I kept for myself Then you're gone I'm not your poor thing
When this episode came out I had just been forcibly groped in the 9th grade. I cried my eyes out. This is not something that I should have been able to relate to at 14 but she did such an amazing job in this. This show was my everything.
@@danielstack4158 Agreed. Her voice is like raw and unique. It's not a pop princess voice. There are so many girls who are talented don't get me wrong but they all sound like the same after a while.
I loved her singing and this song, but I remember her saying in an interview back in the day (it feels like ages ago now 😭) that the crew was laughing at her while she was singing, which seemed weird to me? Like, exactly what was so funny about this underage girl singing a song about her character getting raped? She seemed to take it in stride, but hey, I guess you had to be there 🤷🏻♀️
"Took my body/tore it in HALF" is actually a really visceral, hard-hitting and gruesome lyric that befits such a harrowing experience of rape/sexual abuse. It punches you in the face with what Paige went through, as it should.
I'm quite a bit older than Lauren/Paige, but when this episode came out, I related to it so much. I was raped at 15 by a classmate at a house party (this happened in 1998).
I can’t with Ashley’s faces in this scene 🥲😂 this scene is so amazing and I think it’s so powerful and meaningful. But I can’t see Ashley’s face and not bust up laughing 😂😂😞😞😞
+Degrassi Parodies According to the degrassi wikia page, it said the actresses did perform the songs. In the Hell Hath No Fury, she said didn't sing however for Hell Hath No Fury nothing about PMS (the band). Honestly, It sounds like her.
I'm so sorry! I know how it is painful. You don't want anyone from your crowd to know it. Do you? It is hurtful. If you want to and need to talk to somebody, you can talk with me. Just say yes or no, then we will decide how to connect. Again, I am really sorry
Although what happened to Paige was awful, I think it's what matured her and made her be a better person. She was kinda mean to Ashley and a fake friend to Terri a lot, but she eventually changed and that's why her friendship with Ellie became so great.
