WHEN TO VISIT
Dehradun is pleasant throughout the year but is ideal from March to June and October to December. Summer temperature peaks at 36°C and the mercury dips to 5°C in winters.

1-TAPKESHWAR MAHADEV TEMPLE
Tapkeshwar is a famous holy temple of Lord Shiva on the bank of seasonal Asan river near Dehradun. Known to have one of the oldest Shivling in the cave, Tapkeshwar Mahadev Temple is located at 6.5 km from Dehradun city. As water droplets continuously drops on the shivling, hence it was named as 'Tapkeshwar'.
As per belief and holy epic Mahabharata, it was believed that the cave to be once resided by the Guru of Pandavas and Kauravas. The cave is
named Drona Cave after his name. When Dronacharya’s wife Kalyani gave birth to Aswosthama, she didn’t properly feed him with her milk. As
Dronacharya was unable to afford cow or cow milk, Aswosthama. the clever child prayed to Lord Shiva. Happy with his praying, Lord Shiva feed
him milk through dripping from the Shivling in Drona Cave.
LOCATION AND HOW TO REACH TAPKESHWAR TEMPLE
Tapkeshwar is located at just 6.5 kms from Dehradun city at Tapkeshwar Road. Devotees can reach easily at Tapkeshwar Temple through bus
or auto (vikram). Nearest railway station is at Dehradun railway station (7 kms) and airport at Jolly Grant Airport (32 kms).
2-FOREST RESEARCH INSTITUTE (F.R.I)
The Forest Research Institute is a Natural Resource Service training institute of the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education and is an institution in the field of forestry research in India for Indian Forest Service cadres and all State Forest Service cadres. It is located at Dehradun in Uttarakhand, and is among the oldest institutions of its kind. In 1991, it was declared a deemed university by the University Grants Commission.
The Forest Research Institute campus hosts the Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy (IGNFA), the staff college that trains officers selected for the Indian Forest Service (IFS).
In 1906, it was reestablished as the Imperial Forest Research Institute, under the British Imperial Forestry Service.

The museum is open from 9:30 am to 5:00 pm daily. There is an entry fee of ₹40 per person and a nominal entry fee for vehicles. There are six sections in the museum:

3-SAHASTRADHARA
Sahasradhara, -- popularly but incorrectly spelled Sahastradhara -- meaning thousandfold spring, is one of the most popular tourist destinations located in Dehradun district in Uttarakhand state of India.Earlier, in the 19th century it was also known as Sansadhara, or the petrifying forest.This place is situated on the banks of the small river, Baldi River which a tributary of Song River.The place has once had magnificent beauty of nature where water drips from the limestone stalactites, making the water abundant in sulpur and thus the place is known for its sulphur springs.It is sulphur water spring of relatively lower temperature than its surroundings. It is a warehouse of excellent beauty of caves, waterfalls and terrace farming on steppe by the local people. Its magnificent nature attracts people from faraway places. This place is at about 11 km from the city of Dehradun.
Ropeway
A ropeway is provided to reach the hill top in Sahasradhara to find a artificial park and a sai temple. The Sulphur Water Springs is in Sahasradhara near Lord Shiva Temple.
