This was a more competitive team than before he got there. What pissed people off was the hype they were getting. But that hype was translating into millions of dollars for himself and the university so he wasn’t about to quiet down. But if it was any other coach that did that in a quiet fashion, then year 1 would’ve been considered a success. Because it’s Prime it was a much enjoyed failure. He and they will be better against weaker competition.
So true, Big 12 is mediocre to average at best, even the two possible losses are winnable, Big 12 Chapmptionship for real, to many offseason moves to shore up weaknesses,
What is a bad season for year 2? Under 6 wins? Even that is a improvement. How many programs win 2 more games then they did last year and it's a failure?
a lot of that had to do with the OC and DC. Once they had a few games under their belt, teams now had film on them and their tendencies. It was also apparent that they were going to pass 80% of the time with a suspect OL. So opposing defenses just teed off. Sean Lewis didn’t know how to adjust to keep other teams honest……he just kept calling the same plays under the same schemes. The defense? Where do I begin? No pass rush, no blitz schemes, no ability to cover the underside crossing route, and NO adjustments in game. Terrible coaching by the DC. It did improve a bit toward the end of the season, but still just not a good job of coaching the defense.
