Today, I have the Deity S-Mic 2s in the Audio Hotline Studio! I was very excited to try out my first Deity product! This mic is the Short version of the Deity S-mic 2. This mic has a supercardioid polar pattern and it DOES require 48v of phantom power. Deity has really made a name for themselves, especially in the RU-vid content creator world. They have been making some very good products that have made a lot of people very happy! In this review we go through A LOT of tests (timestamps below). I don't want to give my opinion away here... but I had a lot of fun testing this mic out.
If you are considering purchasing this mic check out the testing and audio samples and see if this is right for you! Every person has different expectations of audio gear. If the features are what you need, and you like the sound, then it is right for you!

Unfortunately, I am not interested in the microphone at all, I am not planning to buy it, nor will I buy another directional microphone, but I still watch the video from the first to the last second. I think that says enough about this great channel. Best audio channel on RU-vid. Please keep it up !!

I know right?! I'm not an audio guy. I just needed a mic for remote work and I didn't want to buy junk. Now I'm subscribed to this channel with notifications on and I don't know why. I don't record music. I don't have a podcast. I shouldn't care about microphones, yet here I am. Not only that but I've started calling headphone 'monitors'. What's up with that? When did that start? What's happening to me?

Been looking into this mic for some time now. Great review on this. Keep it up mate. I am curious though on the angle mic adaptor you used on this. Some details on it would be appreciated. Thanks mate. 👍🏼

Hey! It is actually a bit of a weird setup, BUT I LOVE IT. It is actually a Ball Head that is meant for a camera. The reason I went that is because those are meant to hold more weight compared to the ball heads that are for mics. Also they can get the mic in whatever position you want! This is the exact one I use: amzn.to/3nM8MSx Keep in mind you may need a couple adapters as well to make this setup work on a traditional mic stand/boom arm. These are the adapters I needed: 1/4"-20 Female to 3/8"-16 Male Screw: amzn.to/342r8H7 5/8"-27 Female to 3/8"-16 Male Adapter: amzn.to/3lLRLGe and of course the standard 3/8"-5/8" will probably be needed by some mic clips/shock mounts. You may already have that though!

Thanks for explaining so well, helped a lot. I just got Deity S-mic2s for Sony-Fx3 for run and gun shoot. I am getting lots of handling noise through mic, is there a way to get around this? Thanks

Please make a video comparison between atr2100x and Samson q2u. There sound quality, Background noise etc in an untreated room. Thanks

As someone who owns and NTG3 and regular Deity S-Mic 2, the Rode is waaay better. You can find plenty of used and open box NTG3s for what a Deity S-Mic 2 costs.
