2:44 it’s so unnatural and unrealistic how the DB stop on a dime 360 turnaround and are in perfect position to intercept or bat ball away. those places frustrate me more than anything within the game that I hope are not as persistent in CF 25

Idk if there’s a football game that has been able to properly represent how defenders backpedal, shuffle, explode. It’d be cool if the ratings just spoke to their rng of how often they’ll play sound technique. So I don’t mind a db turning his back if he has a -75 coverage rating and bails early OR he has 85+ coverage and feints a bail to bait the qb. The rare animations/buffs should be restricted to the abilities, but the ability to play a technique should be there for anybody based on playcall, matchup, points of emphasis OR the user doing the right thing. Like in the show, you can still hit a perfect perfect home run with a guy with 40 hitting but it’s a pinhole window. In M21 or 22, Clint Oldenburg said that the animations are coded to the abilities, not the ratings. That’s what sucks for the Maddens but I genuinely appreciate the direction for CFB since they’re tiered and there’s no limit to how many of them can be in the game.

You are right about certain things, but not everything but the thing I got most about this is how it would suck if a player without an ability can’t do certain things that a player with an ability can when it comes to basic fundamentals

Honestly the coverage in the Michigan clip made a lot more sense for it to be something like 4 read. Just from looking at it that’s what makes the most sense. It’s a game so I’m most likely wrong and odds are that kind of coverage isn’t even in the game but in the clip the db looks like he’s playing the vertical and he’s outside leverage but as soon as the receiver breaks on the out the db drops straight into the flat to defend the out. If they add the coverage into the game it would be amazing because to be quite honest cover 2 is not that great of a coverage at least for me personally. It gives up a lot of yards deep and it’s bad against the run. Cover 4 read is just a superior version of cover 2 in every way.

I think the clips are different - Will Johnson is playing outside zone (so thats basically his flat zone to play), while Slay is starting inside in his zone. But I do understand your concern nevertheless. Just seems like you're making content to ONLY pre-complain lol. Like alright bruh.

So a couple of things I want you guys to consider. One thing its a video game and it’s still going to play like a video game. Meaning movements and AI will never be perfect. The other thing is the abilities in this game are just basically badges that reflect stats that a player has already. Meaning if there’s a badge called speedster (just an example) it’s because the player has something like 95-99 speed. These aren’t X factors they just reflect player archetypes. The other thing is in this video that’s just a bad throw that I hope you wouldn’t make in the game. The corner is sitting right there on that route I would look elsewhere to throw personally. I get the concern but let’s just wait and see before we bury the game.

I do expect this game to be good but not a masterpiece like others are saying. Like what I mean is this game will be way better than any Madden made since Frostbite became the engine but not to a masterpiece sports game level it will be a good game but not great. Abilities suck and I noticed the same thing with Madden. Basically, the gameplay animations were sub-par all around, but if you had a player with special abilities then you would have corrected gameplay nice-looking animations available to you. Why should a running back need some unlocked token to have a smooth nice-looking juke? Just dumb

Bro yall need to learn ball lol. he’s in cover 2, he open up to cover him 5-10 yrds then he seen him breaking down to the outside so he flip his hips in jumped the route. Yes it wasn’t the best transition but he played it like a aggressive top CB would in that coverage

“Are these abilities becoming the only way to get a player to for sure do what he’s supposed to be doing?” Yes, that’s exactly the direction it seems like EA’s going. One day Madden + NCAA’s badges are gonna be just as bad as 2K. They don’t belong in simulation sports, they don’t accurately reflect realistic football. My DB should not arbitrarily need a badge to fulfill his assignment or do something simple like break on a ball. Not even a “boost” to the chance of it occurring. Your player should be able to perform any action within the bounds of their speed/strength/acceleration. Badges shouldn’t have the ability to make/break plays like they do, and artificially hold back players who don’t have the proper badge. Spacing, timing, play call, and play recognization should take precedent over everything else. Having/not having a certain badge just ends up hurting good players and rewarding bad players more at the end of the day.

I played corner and this is what we call a speed turn if I’m back pedaling and the receiver cuts either way I would do a speed turn to get back on my man /zone but in the game it’s to slow there not really good at copying the movement of live football movements and characteristics
