This game was actually amazing - if you combine soccer style atmosphere with ice hockey's violentness, you get this game. I'm aware that the NHL doers it's Winter Classic with higher capacity crowds, but they don't shout and cheer like the Germans. I highly recommend that you do this one in your life :)
Ultimate Bucket List winter classic is hosted by America only. A Canadian team can be present (Toronto vs Detroit a few years ago) but there will always be an American team, and they are the hosts. The Canadian version is called the *heritage classic*, the thing is nobody, at least nobody here in America knows whenever the heritage classic even goes on because it doesn’t even get marketed much.
Ultimate Bucket List and I think the reason why it doesn’t get marketed as much is cause the nhls commissioner is American, the nhl marketed the European nhl series (when nhl plays in Europe and even sometimes against European teams) more than the Canadian heritage classic.
@@wowbruh2511 canadian nhl teams need to make it every year have 2 games with montreal vs toronto at bmo field/ molson stadium and edmonton vs Calgary outdoors at there cfl stadiums. I think it would be cool if they do it maybe next year and canadians would go watch if they promote it on tsn/sportsnet..
What’s your next destination? I think you should visit Boston, Massachusetts sometime. Lots of history, sports and great seafood. You should at least see Fenway Park
lol the DEL outdoor games are so much better than the NHL's. I love European fans! For how many years have they played outdoor games in the DEL? I also love that the stadium was filled, shows the game is growing in Germany!
Absolutely! They have an atmosphere here in Germany that you won't find in many other places. They started playing in 2013 and the game is played every two years. The next game is again in Cologne in 2021, this time against the Mannheim Eagles. As for the game in Germany ... it was always popular over there.
Im an Ice Hockey fan living in Germany! I support a team called Hannover Indians who play in the German third division (you can see the jersey of them at 0:42) they have an amazing atmosphere, which is always worthwhile watching! Tickets to sit down are 17,00euro and a standing ticket is 12,50.
Awesome! I've heard of the Hannover Indians, I've also seen the Hannover Scorpions. And ticket prices in Germany are actually quite reasonable - though Cologne tickets can be pricey for the good ones. The Winter Game just now was pretty sweet though.
1:09 Cologne was founded by Romans in year 38 bc, in year 50 after christus Cologne get the rights of a City (Latin: name Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium)
