Thankyou for your comment. I have never heard Del Wood play..alot of people mention her name when I play this one! I actually first heard this piece performed by my heroine Winifred Atwell- and I managed to play it by ear as the sheet music is no longer available. Glad you like it!

Wonderful pianist. I used to be able to play this delightful song on the piano very well until arthritis took over my hands and my eyes got so bad that I couldn't read the music. So, I just listen and watch others who are young and pay well.

This sounds more like Del Wood playing "Down Yonder" than anyone I've ever heard play it...other than Del Wood, of course. Absolutely amazing! Pure talent! Good luck! :)

Many thanks for your comment. Actually, I have never been able to find the sheet music for this piece- so I had to learn it by ear! I'm so glad you think it sounds good, even though I dont have th original sheet music!

You could easily give Moon Mullican, Dell Wood or even Jerry Lee Lewis or Mickey Gilley a run for their money easily! You are the best young piano player I have ever heard! I would love to hear you do Pinetops Boogie Woogie!

I LOVE to watch Michael Sands play! What a talent! If you are ever in St. Louis, MO Michael please stop by my house and play my 1913 Steinway & Son's Grand - it would LOVE to have a great pianist like you pounding out tunes on it for once!

Old friend in about 40 years ago, died some time ago, played this song for me, on his Edison phonograph a cylinder shaped recording of this song. The mechanism on his phonograph resembled a lathe with the needle lined up comparatively!

Great !!! Keep the tradition alive. I remember in the late 1940s or early 50s the recording of DOWN YONDER by Lawrence Piano Roll Cook and then the recording by Del Wood.

Down Yonder appeared on Willie Nelson's 1975 Grammy winning album Red Headed Stranger (side 2 track 3.) The piano solo was by his sister Bobbie, who played with Willie on the road for almost all of both their lives. In concerts, Willie takes a break while Bobbie plays the tune. I saw them live in about 1996.
