I don't care how tired you are of hearing it, but you young'uns need to know this kind of music. Real people playing instruments and singing with the soul and commitment that goes with the music.
One of the best rock songs of the past 30 years. It stands with anything the Stones or Skynard or anyone else has done. It's well written and rocks like crazy. Whew!
Senor McClinton saw your special on PBS.. you have a beautiful home in Mexico.... and thank you for what you said about the folks down there I wish somebody at 1600 Pennsylvania would have the same views that you have muchisimas gracias...sp4covarrubias. Republic of Vietnam 1971🇲🇽🇺🇸
I am so lucky to have been introduced to Delbert's voice early in my life. I always had the benchmark in my head to judge the Delbert come latelys! Most have never got close. A true professional entertainer and fan f'n tastic RB vocalist. Peace
That is ROCK and ROLL. Great job Delbert! Saw him in Springfield, Ma. a couple years ago. Blew the roof off an open air arena. Great show, thanks, Bernie.
I've been a fan for almost 50 years. Amazing man!! Been on 2 Sandy Beaches cruises. He hasn't got the credit he deserves, ie: teaching John Lennon to play harmonica. Delbert... "I'm With You" !!
I sang and played lead 🎸 on this tune back in 1993, love the soul in his voice, I knew I had to cover it the first time I heard it. There is none better.
I'm 25 and Delbert is one of my favorite artists! What a voice...that first verse sets the tone for the whole song! Wish more people my age knew of artists like Delbert!
man...I'm 35, and im just NOW finding out about this incredibly talented cat for the 1st time tonite! i just got a new band member & he asked me to learn a few delbert mcclinton songs to play at open mic nite. & yeahh well, the most appropiate word to describe wtf happened on my cell phone just now would have to be "DAMN." consider me thoroughly fkn impressed. ole dudes baddd af. hes got so much soul you could drown in it. wherever he goes he basically leaves a trail of swag behind. def fkn pro level vox master too. holy shit. where the hell has this dude been all my life?im actually almost pissed off that nobody could have told me about him sooner! hahaha
Just saw Delbert last Saturday night. Yes....he's 77 and all the players have switched out and changed and he is still killing it! Great show! The last song of the last encore was Every Time I Roll the Dice - My girl and I lost it! We were Rockin! Delbert still got it!
I played and jammed with Rick Kurtz his guitarist while in high school in Ft Walton Beach and Destin Florida in the '70s. Yes! Really glad to have known this GIANT now playing with the Lord in heaven I'm sure! Rock on Rick!!!!
Delbert is a icon in blues rock n roll . Call me parcel my father Troy seals and Delbert eared a couple of Grammys in late 80s early 90s . First meeting him 87 he was a breath of fresh air both are retired now and still living. There music will live on and on. Timeless if I may say.
One of the greatest musicians nobody ever heard of. Had the pleasure of seeing him live 3x. People don't know what they're missing. Side note. Discovered him on Don Imus radio. God bless.
nothing but pure unfiltered ENERGY in this song, especially the end. All the instruments going crazy and Delbert screaming the lyrics. Doesn’t get better than this.
First Time I saw Delbert. He Stevie Ray and Jimmy Vaughn surprised a player here in Dallas named Buggs Henderson. They all joined him on stage to wish him happy birthday. They all played together for an hour. Had never heard of any of them. What a night it was. Talk about some music being played.
I simply love Delbert McClinton. I have listened to his music for what seems like for ever. I never grow tired of his songs and all the sweet memories that flood my mind and heart while Im jammin with Delbert . You know you rock dude. always have and always will
I saw Delbert Mclinton in 1962 at the Tower Ballroom in New Brighton across the river from Liverpool. he was backing Bruce Chanel, I didn't realise he could sing so well...he was a bit of a young lad then....great to see and hear these clips ....and what fabulous musicians
How right you are. I've lived in Texas for three years but have been a huge fan of Delbert for at least 20, and it amazes me how often I meet people who have never heard of him. The man deserves way more recognition than he gets. I was wondering, does anyone know if this was his appearance on David Letterman?
I have that version of the song on my old iPod and that iPod is connected to my old Bose speaker. I bring it into the bathroom and while I’m in the shower I play that song about ten times in a row (I have my iPod set to repeat one) so the song just keeps repeating. While I’m showering I try to sing along with Delbert, which is virtually impossible because by the second time around I’ve lost half my voice trying to sing that high trying match him note for note and scream for scream! Can’t be done! But it’s one of the greatest performances ever done!! Love Delbert’s music!!
Delbert played at Butchertown Pub In Louisville, KY several times a year back in the the early 1980s, it was incredible. Very charismatic & was in no hurry to get off the stage. Hard to hard explain. The bar sales went through the roof everytime he played. 2 night venues as well. Wow!
I saw him play a Bardstown Rd club in mid 80s. didn't have but a couple hundred in the crowd but he played with same enthusiasm as he always does. Bummed a smoke from me and we chatted about some of the Soap Creek Saloon days in Austin.
Robert Plant, Mick Jagger, Rod Stewart and Geno Washington please make way for the genius that is...Delbert McClinton...the finest 'rock' vocalist in the world.
One of my favorite artists that we tape on "Austin City Limits." It's also a good memory because Mike Archenhold, (1950-1999) one of the original camera operators on "Austin City Limits", ran camera 3 (opposite me on Cam. 1) on this show and we are workin' it. But then Delbert always gives us the good stuff. Texas Roadhouse Blues-the meat and potatoes of "Austin City Limits." And Stephen Bruton on guitar-one of the greatest musicians to ever come out of Texas-We miss you, Stephen!
Um, I just randomly came across this man for the first time in my life just now. Good Lord! HOW the hell have I never heard of him before? This is one of the bangingest bangers that ever banged. Just looked him up and found out he was born in 1940, has been performing since the late 50s, has released dozens of albums, is still alive and was performing recently and taught FREAKING JOHN LENNON the blues harmonica. What the hell? This is like coming across Willie Nelson for the first time or something.
Going to see DELBERT in October, can't wait to see him again, met him in person, a few years ago, at a small party. Talked to him for hours, not only a dynamite performer. A dynamite PERSON....
I’ve heard he is a decent, down to earth guy who takes time to listen to people he meets. Has never given less than his very best on stage, to his loyal fans and those who haven’t yet been made aware of his talent
My Brothers and Sisters, Please Send Loving and Healing Thoughts Delbert's Way! Delbert is Recovering From Triple Bypass Heart Surgery Due to Chest Pains Mid-Concert This Weekend! I Know We're ALL Wishing Delbert a Very Speedy Recovery! Healing Peace to All.....!
Delbert has the best live shows ever ..great in bar venues ....watching white folks trying to dance to Delbert's music was and is a trip.....people seem to think I am white ..actually French/Spanish Creole ....love me some Delbert
That IS Rick Kurtz, of B'ham,Ala. on the slide guitar. And the guitar is a Fritz Bros., I believe it's a Roy Buchanan model. Roger Fritz ran the Gibson Custom Shop in Nashville, now lives and builds guitars in Fairhope, Ala. He made George Harrison's favorite guitar, and Darryl Jones, of the Rolling Stones, plays his basses on stage. Rick Kurtz, as you can see, is a badass guitar player. And I believe that is Mike Duke of Wet Willie on the piano. Great clip!
OMG Roy Buchanan. Another "lost" artist with too much talent. And I recognize the name Rick Kurtz. Damn I'm getting old and all the good ones don't play the small venues anymore
@Brad Pregeant you can still hear David Hyde on bass with Rigolets, my band out of the Slidell, LA area, along with another former Delbert musician and Grammy nominated drummer, Harrell (Boomer) Bosarge. They are still the best rhythm section around!
I saw Delbert do a show at the Executive Inn Rivermont in Owensboro Ky. several years ago and he rocked the house. He was doing two shows that night and the second one didn't sell out so he invited anybody that went to the first show back later that night using the same ticket so I went back and watched him again. Pretty cool!!
