Have never understood why this man isn't a Mega Super Star. I know he has been very successful BUT this man is a F'ing Genius and has written all sorts of incredible tunes for years! If he doesn't get in the R&R Hall of Fame they need to burn the S.O.B.. down because there is no justice. Delbert........You Da Man!! Thanks for a lifetime of memories. Seriously
I first saw Delbert at the Sundown West in Ruston, Louisiana while attending LA Tech U. in the mid-70's. They would turn the pool tables on their sides and lean 'em up against the wall. Great music and great times. We have seen him all over the south in the past 40 years. Still dig the music.
Delbert McClinton and Austin City Limits, are the most enduring and wonderful piece of American music, and there's lots of those. Not so much now, but then. An era now gone, but not forgotten, for sure. Immortalized, thank you internet.
All those years, I had no interest in Delbert McClinton then I accidently heard Every Time I Roll The Dice. Man!! I've been his biggest fan ever since. This Guy kicks Ass!!! I listen to Delbert every day now. He Rocks!!!! Thanks Buddy.❤😊😅❤

@@yurbeeinwatched I'm a drummer also, for over 30 years. That's what I enjoy about about Delbert McClintons's Music... He always had Bad Ass Drummers in his band that were outstanding players.
Thank you very much for telling us his name. I absolutely love to sing and play this song on drums, and he has been the gold standard in my mind. All I can do is practice the rest of my life and hope to die just 1/100th as funky as him!
@@billymartinaswell1779 ...Harrell is still around. I believe that he plays in the southern Louisiana area, with a popular local band. You can google him, and probably find out his current info. I met him after a couple of Delbert's shows, back in the day. A very nice guy, and fun to talk with. He was always fun to watch, because he was a very smooth drummer, but had great powerful drum fills, and a great hi-hat technique. He remains one of my all time favorite funky drummers! I'm glad that you enjoy his playing also !! 🥁🤔😃😄
Absolutely one of thee best blues singers of our time!!! The band is just killer, i'd give anything to be part of a band like that. I could write him some kick ass songs and have some already for his liking. Delbert you just inspire me to keep playing and writing when hearing you sing in a band like in this video.Good blessings to you my brother and the rest of the familia you have there.
WHen I first got to Texas in 1988, my parents and I went down to West End in Dallas and there was Delbert and his band playing. I didn't know about him at all. What an introduction. I sat in front of Don Wise and marveled at his tone and sound. I'm still not the best rock sax player, but he still is.
How can not you want to get up and jam!!!!! We had the WEEKEND to look forward each week with Major Talent like Delbert and more. Austin City Limits and the Wolfman keep us rocking and rocking, greatest shows ever for real talent live.
I moved from Florida to Austin in 1984 21 years old and a friend turn me on to Delbert.Roll me an album played it till I ran the needle through. God. Those were good times
That's crazy to see people up going wild like that on Austin City Limits. Mostly seems like people just stand there but this is pretty rocking for an episode of that!
Thanks for uploading this and 'B-movie Boxcar.' Wish this entire concert was available for download or on DVD. One of the best live performances ever recorded IMO. Killer bass and backing vocals are compliments of Tim Loftin, one of my all-time favorite bass players.

At one time, in Okc, Ok - I worked with Don Wise along with John and Tammy Leen ...Don not only played amazing sax ...but he was a darned nice guy ...we worked together for close to a year. We still communicate from time to time.
Was stunned to learn earlier today this was really just a cover of a Temptation's #1 hit (their last, btw) ... Always assumed this was Delbert's tune .. 😞
That's one badass Tenor Sax ride, Don Wise. He gets way up high, but some of the deeper, throaty stuff reminds us that he's not playing an alto. (Nothing wrong with Alto...just sayin' - It's all good fun!) And that moaning guitar phrase at 3:34 or so...SO soulful! Just saw Delbert in Hilo, on the Big Island a couple months back...Still bringin' it in his 70s..!!
