As the title suggests, Dungeon Meshi is great in that it does not deviate from the theme of eating from the beginning to the end of the story. No matter how grandiose and deep the story becomes, it remains consistent. There is a strong theme of eating, such as eating to live, eating to fight, eating for entertainment, eating to become friends, eating to solve mysteries, eating to save friends, etc. It is not a gourmet anime that simply repeats delicious and unpalatable food.
Suke is a common Japanese name ending, and Ken is a Japanese word for sword. So laois calling his sword kensuke is the equivalent to naming your sword swordy in english
Ben, the church memory you are thinking of is likely a censer, an incense burner hanging on a chain that is often used in processions in special services. For holy water, they use an aspergillum which is usually more like a stick or wand. But yes, I had the same flashback of a censer, something the Lutheran church I grew up in took with them from the catholic tradition. EDIT - guess I should have waited until I finished the video before posting, as you looked it up immediately after 😂.
As other comments have mentioned, ken means sword and suke is a common male name ending in Japan. There are not many people who actually use the kanji for "sword" in the ken part, but there are many Kensuke in Japan, and many seem to use "healthy" or "wise" in the ken part. ken and suke both have several different kanji, so there are many different variations of Kensuke.
Really put a smile on my face when I remembered Senshi was gonna give us a tour of the exorcism practices around the world, while knowing that I also have the new Monogatari reaction queued up
15:28 precisely the opening talks about remembering the deceased, well, not so much that, the lyrics talk about moving forward after you have lost important things, as people, you cannot stay in an eternal sleep remembering what you lost, your body needs you to be I wake up and asks you to continue living, you have to move forward in your life, time passes and you have to move forward with it, it will not remain static for you, the world is cruel but perfect at the same time. Falin is definitely dead, a person would not last a day in the stomach of a dragon, he would not have oxygen to breathe, Laios already knows this and what the ghosts showed him were illusions, using his loved ones, they are not the spirits of the deceased as such, are just memories
by the way, you might want to consider changing your thumbnail image a little, because the way it is arranged right now makes it look like it says "Delicious in Dung" which I don't think was intentional? XD
