I miss my grandfather. I just want to go hug all the old people. Even the grumpy ones. I hope this was a actor because a person shouldn't be shown to the world like that it is embarrassing and taints the legacy of that patient.

You can literally hallucinate objects and beings into existence because what's happening is you're tapping into that pure abstract creative potential of mind. That's exactly what you want. Of course it can be kind of freaky but a delirium is that times a thousand.

I had delirium after having open heart surgery..for twenty-four hours I didn't remember anything. When I was more aware of where I was, I still had strange symptoms such as people being around me, but there wasn't just part of the delirium. After about five days, the symptoms disappeared.

My friend flat mate had a heart attack on Sunday and has been going through delirium for the last five days. Pulled out his Iv lines twice through he was in the pub thought he was in a house he lived at 40 years ago. refusing tablets arguing with the doctor. He has settled down now and will be able to get his op in a few days now. It is terrible to watch your loved ones go through this.

I had a delirium just now because of a high fever. My mother snapped me out of it by talking to me. It only lasted for a couple of minutes, but it was terrifying being so confused with reality

Hospital induced delirium is no joke. I’ve seen it’s effects on my father in law during his short stay to get his hip replacement surgery. He’s 88 years old. It takes a well lit room during the day and familiar surroundings to treat this condition. It resembles dementia.

@@lindamorgan2678, it’s something I learned from the nurses at the hospital where he was at, then I researched it. My father in law is a boat repair mechanic and was fixing parts in his state of mind, using screwdrivers and tools. It wasn’t make believe for him. He also thought he was at a party as someone’s house. This and many other things he was confused about.

I had antidepressant induced delirium due to a rare side effect of Luvox. As well as experiencing a whooole bunch of other severe side effects on top of that. Roughly ten at the same time by my count. I'm so glad I'm off that poison.

Ha. I've been on that medication for about a year and I haven't had a single side effect. Weird!
@YusuphYT

@@User-ig3bi ha. Nobody has no side effects from SSRI’s lol... I’m guessing you mean after you stabilised, even then. Most still have very noticeable side effects but each person varies. No side effects isn’t very helpful however, that’s like when opioid dependent folk with true pain say the drug doesn’t do anything except kill pain when they’re not being able to “poo” for weeks at a time, dying on the toilet. Having anger outbursts etc, lmao...

@amackocaman1796 3 года назад
It depends on ethiology. Accute form lasts for 1 hour to a few days, but there is a many cases that last for weeks or even months. If it's not cured, dementia would occur.

@@amackocaman1796 My mother was in ICU for an extended period due to 3 occurrences of sepsis, had her leg amputated and 2 drains placed for infection, and was in dialysis for a couple weeks. Her kidneys have since recovered (beyond thankful), but she is completely delirious and was nonverbal for a few days. She has been transferred to a skilled nursing facility 10 days ago, and she is still hallucinating and extremely confused. There is no history of dementia or any cognitive impairment. I know you can’t give a timeline, but is there still a chance she could recover? Could the facility rehabilitating her also cause delirium? We are extremely worried.

@@vanthachhim Hope you are well! Yes, although it took over 2 months to completely come out of the delirium, my mother ultimately did. Cognitively she is back to her baseline and we are extremely thankful. Although physically she is still struggling and has yet to come home from the nursing facility her mental state returning made a huge difference in her recovery. We are hopeful (albeit scared to death) that she will be home for the holidays. I hope this gives others hope to not give up even if it’s taking a considerable amount of time.
