I've had a PE teacher come up to me and tell me that people who play hockey are violent because they hit to hurt people .. This video shows why we hit and how much technique actually goes into hitting. Awesome video!
You are correct - it was during breast cancer awareness month. At the time of filming this, one of the parents on the team I was coaching was battling breast cancer.
@BabyJakerz - finishing your check should be taught after your players have become proficient in the actual checking technique. The intent of finishing your check is to gain body position and reduce the chance of the player remaining part of the play. The skill needs to be taught carefully however to prevent "late hits" and hitting just for the sake of hitting. As far as when to teach it, I'd pay more attention to proficiency than age.
very good video. Im learning hockey for a TV show that my friend and I are filming. Very educational for somebody that has never played before. Thanks a lot for the help!!
This is a very good video. Telling that checking is to get players off of pucks only is a great thing to teach. Although, when would you start saying start finishing your checks?
I got check in the back I was not facing the ice I was facing the boards and My goalie Yelled up to me watch out and I turn around just my head all I see was my face hit the glass and I blacked out I went to the hospital I had major wipe lash and I got a concussion and I had to be off for three weeks
I'm sorry that she has to go through that. I fully support wearing pink for awareness and providing any amount of money possible to aid research to help those suffering from cancer. People shouldn't comment rudely before knowing the facts.
Wearing pink laces doesn't make you gay, coulda been filmed during Breast Cancer Awareness, could just be preference. Either way the video was educational and that's the point. Not attire.
