In this Pro Tips 4U sports training hockey video, Dustin Brown of the Los Angeles Kings shows you the tips and techniques for proper checking,. You'll learn when to check, how to line the guy up, where to contact the player and the two part process for a proper check emphasizing timing and weight transfer.
Dustin was the 13th overall pick of the 2003 National Hockey League (NHL) Entry Draft. He has spent his entire 14-year NHL career with the Kings. He led the Kings to the 2012 and 2014 Stanley Cup championships and in 2012 became the first Kings captain and second American captain (behind Derian Hatcher) to win the Stanley Cup with a six-game victory over the New Jersey Devils. During the 2012-13 NHL lockout, he played for ZSC Lions in the Swiss National League A.
Dustin is noted for his physical playing style, consistently ranking among NHL leaders in hits and penalties drawn, and his reserved, lead-by-example approach to his former captaincy.
Internationally, Dustin has represented the United States at three World Championships, winning a bronze medal in 2004, and two World Junior Championships. He won a silver medal as an alternate captain of the United States national team at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Dustin received the 2011 NHL Foundation Player Award for his extensive charity work in the Los Angeles community.

In my area they changed it's no hitting in peewee but on,y hitting in dubs or trips in bantam and I'm trying out for triple aaa if played two tryout games and a I feel scared when there are 5.9 150 pound kids running me, (I am usually in the corners battling and getting abused) I just feel scared and I think the evaluators will think I'm weak,btw I'm 5.4 110 pounds.

I feel you dude I'm in Peewees right now but I'm scared because even though I'm not too small I play against kids that are like 5 inches taller than me

I am a second year peewee going into bantam and I am 5’5” and 160 lbs, (I know, I’m not the lightest fellow) I asked some friends that are in bantam how tall the average person is in my league and they said a few teams have massive D men, but “you’ll be fine” so I’m pretty confident, because of my height and weight and I can skate pretty fast. This won’t do much, but I just want to say that I can slap shot a puck at 63 mph I won a skills comp in a tourney. 😄

The envy when I see you have the ice to yourself. Is that a common thing in other countries? That if you feel like skating, there is always a place? (I live in the capital of Sweden, its like 50 min, two times a week for ”public-skating”.) maybe its common to have a rink for yourself whenever, elsewhere in Sweden... But just curious...
@romelegionmaker8625
@romelegionmaker8625 7 месяцев назад
Not really, we have free-skates in the US for everyone a few times a week but if you want an entire rink to yourself it is very expensive.

You also don’t want to lunge at someone with all your momentum, only to miss the hit, and go flying. You need to come in at an angle, where they don’t have the chance to dodge your hit.
@Balmain_jacket
