Here the problem, 100% confirmed its your graphic card or displayport cable. Whats your graphic card because i think only Rtx serie or higher can reach 240hz with DSC 1.2, new video card have DSC 1.2 ACTIVE or make sure your NVIDIA OR AMD GRAPHIC CARD support DSC1.2, if you have gtx serie they dont have DSC1.2 even if you have the right cable, you will get only 120 - 144hz. You will probebly see 240hz for the monitor but the GTX 1XXX serie dont have this option DSC1.2 if you try to use 240hz you will get flickering. Just make sure your graphic card support DSC1.2 and you will never have problem with 240hz if you have the right displayport 1.4 cable HBR3. This product is SPECIFICALLY designed to work with the latest Graphics Processing Units (GPU’s) which supports DSC 1.2. These are the supported GPUs i know. AMD™ NAVI: RX5700, RX5600XT, RX5700XT, RADEON VII, RX5500XT. NVIDIA : RTX 3XXX, TITAN RTX , RTX 2080, RTX 2070, RTX 2060 QUADRO™: RTX8000, RTX6000, RTX5000, RTX4000, RTX3000 MOBILE Intel™ Eleven Based Gen: IceLake, Iris Plus Graphics, UHD Graphics
My monitor have some litlle gray horizontal lines, and it gets worse when I reduce the contrast level. because of that the screen seems to be a litlle blurry There is somenthing to do?
So why did you buy a 240hz 1ms response time if you only use 4 , I'm a competitive gamer and response time is really important to me , what do you think I should do ?
@@stickymonkey8053 because they sell 1 ms response time 240Hz monitor, maybe is something with TN panel, Dell doesn't solve the problem just sent me a new monitor in the second day after I notice the problem, is not only Dell monitors, I think something is wrong with 240hz monitors at superfast response time, so unfortunately 1 ms is a lie.
also don't forget to go to your comps display settings and change the monitor to 240hz.. I couldn't figure out why everything was ghosting on my home screen and not games hahah
I have the same problem. Monitor has to be set to Standard Mode. Response Time can be set to: SuperFast, but Dark Stabilizer has to be set to 0. If i change it, the dark spots around icons or corners will persist.... Have you found any solution to this? does this happen to all this alienware monitors? :/
@@cristidinrec Is this Dell Alienware better than AOC Agon 251FZ? Becase this is triggering me... wonder if AOC has the same problem. Dont know if should i exchange the monitor for AOC. What do you think? I was using Black Equalizer heavily on my previous BenQ monitor.. and right now i cant use it at all..
@@iNasteable l like alienware aw2518hf for design and 240hz I don't use black equalizer, the other monitor's have the same problem with response tine for example BenQ turn response time to 2ms with dyac to reduce motion blur. dyac off is the same motion blur like alienware, at least dell let you set manually response time. so if you check my other videos you can see benq test and your problem with black spots you turn off black equalizer and you can use ultra fast response time without black spots, black spots only with black equalizer.
@@cristidinrec Yeah, black spots only occur on Dark Stabilizer. If that is turned off then everything works perfect. Dont know what to do. I dont want to spend more money to buy benq 2546 - its way too expensive in my country. Im curious if the same happens on AOC Agon 251FZ :/ but i heard that AOC Is skipping frames... BTW if you have tested Dell. Does Dell Alienware AW2518hf have good input lag and good response time? is it good for competitive comparing to other monitors? thanks for help dude a lot !!! youre great! subscribed!
@@iNasteable Benq 2546 dyac tested same result just dyac removed motion blur but add +1ms response time, some players said dyac is little laggi, , is expensive monitor my friend buy it after he used alienware but is not so happy he play cs go, Alienware is very good I like the design I used only BenQ but alienware do a good job with this model I like the screen have almost no bezels and I like it very much, gosthing is the same at response time 1ms, but if you set alienware at normal response time is perfect maybe they need software update to fix problem with black equalizer, but trust me benq is the same if you activate dyac the response time is normal and they say wow we have such a great technology (dyac) . so do it manually and your Alienware will perform the same and nobody lies you to pay extra money for dyac, at the end everyone choose what they want, this is just my opinion and like I said in other comments I think right now TN panel era is at the end, and 1ms 240hz is maximum for the panel.
I ordered this monitor couple of days ago and sold my 144hz so now I have to play on a 60hz school monitor until its delivered xd. Would you btw be interested in playing some time? My rank is LE.
@BLaZe Trolli oof I dont think thats supposed to happen, if its smoking might wanna get a refund. I fixed mine by fiddling with the port a bunch and making sure it was all the way plugged in
the biggest issue with this stupid ass monitor is the fact that it randomly blacks out while using displayport. I've had two of these monitors now and they both exhibit the same damn issue.
@@cristidinrec except it's not considering people with different gpu's are experiencing the same exact issue. at certain points in time the screen will just go black before it comes back. and this is not an issue with any other monitor, which leads to the conclusion that this is not a gpu issue, but a monitor issue.
@@cristidinrec I have to use a display port because my monitor will not turn on when I use an HDMI cable for some reason. So, I am using a display port.
@@ethanreed2672 when I use the Hdmi cable, I got black screen, because my gpu doesn't have a Hdmi 2.0 and do not support 240Hz after I buy dp cable 240Hz without any problems.
@@ethanreed2672 I think is something with your hardware because your monitor needs to start on Hdmi, you can try another gpu for a while to see if the problem persist, if is the same contact Dell they will give you a new monitor very fast, I think is your gpu
