I was waiting for this specific model to be reviewed. And when I saw Andrew had been reviewed it, I had a certain feeling that it's gonna be the only review that I will watch for this laptop. Appreciate that! ❤
Thank you Andrew for a very compelling review! You are reading your comments and that is encouraging! You called matte display a matte display without any weird words they are using to hide the fact that despite any coating the glossy screen WILL reflect and you would not be able to use it in normal lighting conditions). I also like that you highlight the USB C port on the opposite side. This is not a nit-pick. You see my wife has HP work laptop that has single USB-C on the right side I've got work laptop that is Dell with two ports but on the left side. And usually USB C cables from docking stations are very stiff. It is almost impossible to organize workplace that is comfortable to us both! USB C on either side is MUST in 2024 on every laptop!
This is an excellent laptop from Dell in my opinion. Love the color of the all metal chassis, the screen, keyboard, the ports, 1080p webcam and audio mics which are very clear, the excellent battery life as well as the internal speakers which are surprisingly good for a Windows laptop. For the price point of $999.99 with 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSD, it's a winner in my book! I also like the fact that you can upgrade it to 32GB for not a whole lot of money when in the ordering process! All and all, the Dell Inspiron 14 Plus 7440 (2024) is a gem of a laptop that won't break the bank!! Excellent review Andrew!!! 👍😁
Please give a brief review of it. Many people criticised it even after its really good specifications. They said it has really bad hardware and wont go well in the long run. What are your thoughts???
I have been using a Dell Inspiron 16 Plus (with Arc graphics) for two months and I have not had any problems with it, for the long term I cannot say anything now. I think it is a pretty good laptop. I use it a lot, for normal tasks like watching videos and web pages, as well as for design work, and it does a good job with that. I've also seen comments that the Inspiron line has good specs for the price, but has poor build quality. I can't completely disagree with this one, but it feels pretty good quality for the price. Overall, I think it's definitely not a bad option.
Nice affordable pc. Camera and mics are good. Keyboard layout good. Camera and sound was okay. It is nice that these less expensive pcs come with better port selection overall than the more expensive pcs. Nice to see an sd card slot. Since most micro sd cards come with adapters to full size having a micro size is no big deal. Display is good. Another great review from a great reviewer.
I feel like Dell is stuck with their head between their legs and doesnt realize things are moving on. Great review once again Andrew! I wonder when you will review the new Ideapad Pro 5 and the Envy x360 14/16 which seems real close to the Spectre.
WAIT A SECOND... I was looking at this on the website here in the Netherlands, and I stumbled upon multiple RAM options where you can choose between DDR5 or LPDDR5x for both 16 and 32GB! And the DDR5 ones say "extra memory available separately (up to 64GB)". Can you confirm this on your end Andrew? I think these might be user-upgradable! (I tested this with CU7 155H, 32GB DDR5, RTX4060 config for 16 inch)
@@andrewmarcdavid not a problem! I can confirm it is only for the 16 inch model over here. I checked multiple configs for both 14 and 16 inch. Still good news of course.
The ASUS charger cord is a big box to plug-in and had to use a extension cord as cord was so much shorter than our current Dell. Dell also has the best anti-reflective screen if don't get the touchscreen. ASUS I believe is lighter and does have the OLED option.
The dell inspiron 2 in 1 2024 has the some thermal issue as well. I tried to use it with charging the system and it overheated extremely for such a new pc.
Nice review, Do you think the last year model that you reviewed is better overall (other then battery life)? I've noticed they removed the 2nd vent, made keys a bit more boxier, removed the nicer looking and better glass touch pad, lessened the size of the fingerprint scanner, made the design of the laptop more rounded, the hinge in the last year one is a lot more better in terms of built and structure. In my opinion they downgraded their laptop from last year other then the packaging, maybe chips, and yeah that's it. What do you think?
Hi Andrew, another excellent review! You are right that it's speakers are good at this price level. Are you considering to review its competitor HP Pavillion Plus 14 with almost the same price for comparison?
In uk is on sale 850£ Intel® Core™ Ultra 7 155H Windows 11 Home Intel® Arc™ Graphics 32 GB LPDDR5X 1 TB SSD 14.0-in. display 2.8K (2880X1800) Looks very compact laptop overroll
Justjosh just reviewed the ideapad pro 5i and claimed that it was a must buy laptop for under 1000 dollars. It has an intel Core Ultra 7 155H or amd processor (ryzen 5 8645HS) with an rtx3050, 16gb RAM and 512gb storage, along with an OLED panel. Could you consider getting one in soon. Just a suggestion though. I know you are very busy!
Is there anyone who ordered a laptop from HP? I bought a spectre x360, the model i7 155H, 1TB ssd, 32Gb, and wifi 7. I'm an exchange student and i have to go back to my home country in less then two months. I ordered it last Thursday and hoping it to arrive in 3 weeks. I know customized laptops would take much more then not configured ones but if someone could share their experience, i'd be happy because i want to get my laptop before having to go back to my home country!!!
Hi Andrew, we're a lot watching you from Europe and we're wondering if there is a way to buy laptops in the US with Azerty keyboards. If so, would you please add the affiliate links and i ensure you that a lot of orders are gonna be placed. Thank you
Why do we have 2000, 3000, 5000 nits displays in our phones but 95% of laptops are stuck with 300-400 nits panels? I mean make it at least 500-600 nits and I will be happy.
Asus Zenbook 14 OLED (Q425MA) wins by some margin. Except battery life. Any reason to avoid Asus and go for Dell 14 plus? Asus also cheaper. In my onpinion, Dell would make sense If the person is willing for 32gb ram.
I am a car salesman and i use the laptop mostly for presentations and some visual code work .I love laptops I wanna buy the exact model of the review or the Macbook M3 air 16GBram. Can you help with your opinion?
I know this is the review for the 14 inch version but I have to say, their 16 inch version is what I initially wanted to buy but ultimately decided against it. 2 MAJOR problems, they gave the 16 inch version a 2.5k resolution screen while the 14 inch tops out at an even higher resolution of 2880 x 1800, really should be the other way around. Also, to get the awesome quad speaker audio you must buy the SKU that comes with Nvidia graphics chip, otherwise with the cheaper Arc graphics it forcibly downgrades the speakers to just dual bottom firing instead of giving those 2 other front facing ones, why Dell? Why????
Solid starter laptop for high school or college students. Based on the ports alone I wouldn't recommend it for work. Biggest issue is the build quality reputation. Inspiron brand is known for good specs and mediocre hardware build quality.
FAKE News alert. Please share the class action lawsuits filed against Dell or this model. Unlike MacBooks who have a history of class action lawsuits for poor build quality - cracked screen, green screen, connectivity issues, overheating, thermal throttling, keyboard iusses - there are no class action lawsuits against Dell.
Windows is going archaic.Modern standby is killing most of the laptops and their battery life.Especially Dell, there is no workaround to get back to S3 sleep mode. The default S0 idle sleep mode is horrible and nowhere near to mac's standby
the IR camera is useless in Windows laptop unfortunately. Windows made it useless. the UI for IR camera is so BAD I ma thinking writing book on that)) "How to fail an industry" is working title. )) seriously how hard is to put password and PIN input on login form in case IR login fails (and it failing regularly). you need two clicks to get to fail over option... that is trash... I find myself turning IR login off always.
