Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series Screen Repair 

I bought my screen from laptopscreen.com, I generally don't promote any companies in my videos, however, I was very satisfied with this company. Someone else recently bought a screen from them and left a comment saying they were very pleased too. If you are confused about which screen to order, I found their website helpful. I also called them with a question and found them to be knowledgeable. I think they would be better at answering this question than me, I suggest you give them a call.

Hi Jamel, my personal guideline on replacing a computer part(s) is to replace the part with a OEM part, especially if the part contains a processor chip. Buying a OEM part from the manufacturer often makes it too expensive to repair the computer. An LCD screen does not have any chips. I'd guess that there are a handful of companies in the world that make all of the screens and sell them to Dell, Acer, etc. The screen I replaced in the video is still working great for my friend and it is not a OEM part. Somewhere the comments, there was a gentleman who called me a liar because I said that it cost 1/4 of the price that Dell charges. Look through the comments for my reply.

I'm trying to say the the screen is just a "dumb" part... nothing special about it, so you don't have to buy the screen from Dell. I would be careful about buying it on Amazon, be sure to read all the reviews and make sure the supplier is reputable, it has a warranty and you can return it if it's not compatible. I think I paid around $80 for mine.

It's not difficult to separate the bezel, just kind of scary if you never did it before. I sounds bad and the plastic flexes, but it doesn't break. Just take your time and be gentle.

I bought the screen from: www.laptopscreen.com/ I had a good experience with the company and would buy another screen from them again. They were very helpful and will help you get the correct screen.

Second this - this is where I got mine as well. Their website says to replace your screen with the same resolution and size, but it's generally fine to step up from 720p to 1080p as long as the connector is the same. Also, I went from shiny to matte and that has been an immense help as well.

Hi lynxznet. I intend to do the same thing as you (own a 5547 with a 720p screen and need to upgrade to a 1080p one). Did it work for you??
