Thank you for posting this video. I have used your video to guide to help me in replacing my laptop screen after I accidentally broke it. I have had my laptop 15r SE 7520 since dec 2012 and have replaced my HDD with an SSD and it was doing great until I broke the screen. I also cleaned out the fan heatsink and replaced the thermal paste and my temps dropped a couple of degrees. Please continue posting helpful videos so we can lessen our electronic waste.
Thanks so much for posting this video. Following it carefully I successfully replaced the LCD (part number 8G1JY) on a Dell Inspiron 7520. The only differences on that model were a different number of screws under the hinge and the extra webcam cable. The pace of the video was great as well the act of pointing at each screw before undoing/doing it up. The minimal commentary is also excellent: only what was needed to explain. Excellent stuff!
Thank you for this tutorial. I managed to replace the display screen back holder and palmrest by following your procedure step by step. My Dell Inspiron laptop is now looks like new.
It really helped me in fixing my broken screen. Initially I referred another video which is not relevant to 15R special edition. I thought all will be the same. This video is awesome.
I will definitely use this vid to help me replace my faulty screen. But how do I know which replacement screen to buy for my Inspiron 15R 7520 as there seems to be many different options to choose from?
This is an amazing video. Very detailed and systematic. good speed. just replaced my cracked screen- works perfectly. just a small note : make sure to group screws while opening- it's easy to get lost in which screw was from where. Thank you so much!
I would have to know the screen part numbers to be able to tell for sure. They might be compatible as long as they are the same type of screen and the same resolution.
I'm working in the 5720 videos now and unfortunately I don't take the screens apart to that point. Typically you would need a clean room if you want to disassembly screens, otherwise many more problems as caused.
I am having a weird problem after replacing the LCD. When I boot with the new LCD connected, it beeps 8 times and doesn't work, but if I boot with the broken LCD connected and with the laptop still turned on, disconnect the previous LCD and connect the new one, it works, everything is fine. I did the D+Power button thing and got the colors. Did the Fn key + Power button (with the previous LCD, because with the new connected it does not work), then changed to the new one to be able to see, executed the diagnostics and all is fine. I don't know what else to try and look for, any help would be awesome. Thank you.
hi is it possible to change the lcd screen from an inspiron 1545 for the one of a inspiron 5520? My 5520 lcd is broken and i have and old 1545 inspiron laying arround
Hi, I have replaced display in my dell inspiron 7520, but the system won't load. I'm stuck with screen "DECOMPILATION OR DISASSEMBLY PROHIBITED". With old display everything works fine. Is there any way to overcome this? e.g. update BIOS?
It sounds like a hinge has broken or the screw mount on the bottom base have broken and that has possible damaged the LCD cable causing the screen to fail. Just a guess without seeing the laptop.
hi, after watched your video, im finally make the decision to upgrade my display, is this www.parts-people.com/index.php?action=item&id=17114 going to be compatible to my 7520 ? currently my display panel part number is 8G1JY (1366x768), i understand i hv to replace the video cable as well, thx in advance.

+James Hodgskiss There ARE a lot of screen options. Try using our Service Tag Lookup option. You will be able to find the part number for your screen and it will probably tell you the type of screen too. That should help you decide what to order. www.parts-people.com/find_model.htm
