I noticed the bios showed your M.2 as a HDD. I tried putting it in that slot and it would not come up. If you look at the Dell manual, they don't even mention the other slot next to the memory. I believe these are late production boards and not documented. When I put the M.2 in that slot next to the memory, I was able to see it and it came up as the M.2 instead of HDD you had it as. Also, you are supposed to put a heat sink pad underneath the card. Thanks for the UEFI info, not all was correct, but you provided helpful information.

This worked m.2 slot 1 was not detecting the ssd. When I put it in slot 2 next to the ram . It worked. Thank god . I’m reinstalling OS as I type . Slow process . I currently have and ryzen 3. Upgraded ram to 32gb. And now 1tb m.2.

I installed W10 on a 1TB M.2 NVME in one of these and instead of having to delete the File Browser Del Boot Option and reinstalling W10, I used a program called DiskGenius to select a new path to the new boot file. When I went back into BIOS it had both paths under the File Browser Boot options. I THEN deleted the old File Browser Del Boot Option so there was only the new one. Worked perfectly without having to reinstall W10. Hope this helps someone.

@GriffinEffects
@GriffinEffects Год назад
@@kenc6602 Yeah, that was a while ago. If I remember correctly it's just as I wrote. DiskGenius has a option to choose a path to the boot file. Once I chose the path in DG to the boot file on the new M.2 and saved it, I rebooted, and now there were two paths to the boot file shown in the BIOS. I then just deleted the old boot file path.

I have the same pc but I ordered it from Dell with a 250 GB M2 SSD primary "C" drive & liquid CPU cooling. It's a very very fast unit! I also added a Blu-ray disc drive. I use a 37" tv as my monitor & linked the audio out to a high power amplifier with 4 speakers. Almost 2 years with no problems!!!

Excuse me, when you try to upgrade to win 11 you will have to have secure boot enabled and enable uefi as well? insydh20 bios wasn't seeing the SSD drives on my Dell 5675 unless i used Legacy and kept secure boot disabled and not qualified for win 11. If there is a way to fix this please tell me.

When you delete those two lines, are you deleting files encrypted in the bios or in the hard drive with the operating system that came with the computer? If you remove the hd that came with computer and you simply switch to legacy boot--then the bios allows you to choose boot order ( then use usb with os to install on your new ssd drive) would that work? At 9.26 you said you had to delete OS, but why would you need to do that if you are simply putting in a new drive and installing windows from a usb? I don't mind to reinstall windows (want to upgrade to windwos 10 professional anyway cause it came with windows 10 home). I would leave the drive that came with the system alone and out of the computer altogether (maybe drop it back in if I need to have it serviced or something) Would that solve the issue?

I know this is way overdue. But I just upgraded this Dell Inspiron 5675 to 32gb of RAM, 1TB SSD Nvme Samsung pci 3.0. it's like a rebirth to the PC no longer do I have to wait for start up and everything is just faster, future plan will be to upgrade the power supply and GPU (whenever is cheap) I don't use it for power gaming just some VR and Fortnite. Now regarding the swap. I use Samsung Magician software to clone it. 1st step is put the SSD and make sure your pc is able to read it or recognize it. Then go clone it, Then go to BIOS. I did disable the Secure Booth. Then instead of Delete the boot option just go to boot option and re-assign it to the same directories of the original but now Booting from the SSD. (you will see it once you click on those directories it will bring another window) for mine it has TWO LINES one booting under \efi\microsoft and the other under \efi\boot\bootx64.efi, just take a pic so you remember the directories incase you screw up. Since you clone the drive it will have the same directories as your original one, just directed to boot from the SSD. Now it should boot from you ssd and you get to keep all your programs. the setting on my bios was Secure boot disabled boot list option enabled boot list option uefi attempt Lega disabled I did a recovery disk before all that just incase something went wrong. Good luck incase you like me and just want to save money and keep your old PC.

Just bought mine a few days ago, really want to take it all out of this case, get a new power supply, new mother board, and overclock the heck out of the cpu and gpu in a new stylish case! love the machine though. The most expensive parts are already here, the GPU AND CPU. I think it would be an easy first build for me. Really would like some more fans for cooling as well, which I now the stock motherboard does not provide any more headers.

Can't do motherboard, it's all propietery. Upgrading the PSU is a challenge too, cpu can only use 1sr gen ryzens so far, and graphics cards r well eh. Ram is easy. I really wish u could replace motherboard tho. If u wanna do a build, get a case and motherboard, then make a desktop from these parts. That's an easy build

@Jmeon4eva
@Jmeon4eva 6 лет назад
The 5675 has....alot of build problems. Were dealing with Dell here, they pick spare parts off of shelves. The loud fan noise comes from one of 3 sources (Random or no problems at all it depends) 1) THE CRAPPY PSU! Dell back when the Aurora r4 or r5 came out, had been getting complaints about the bad PSU, being a non-80 plus 460w psu this is believable. What Dell did was take them out of the Alienware Aurora lineup, and use them elsewhere, one of the places was in the new shiney Dell Inspiron Gaming line for noth AMD and INTEL. The problem through the whole DIG5675 (and possibly in the 2018 line as well) line begins at the start, the first AMD model optioned is not a ryzen, but an APU, there the 460 is fine, but they carry it as standard all the way up to the R7 and I7 models. The PSU has a specific code number, and is made by a lesser PSU maker (read: cheaper) and has fan problems. They have an 850w option, though not in stores, and not a listed option online on the configuration page, that costs an extra $250 dollars. I've been tryin g to figure out if i can buy a 3rd party PSU and replace it, and my 1 year warranty wears out soon so, yay... 2) They used generic Dell cooler on the CPU, NOT THE AMD MADE COOLER OR OTHER. Cheap generic vs higher quality cpu cooler, hmmmm. Now on configuration screen online you can always option for liquid cooling (DO IT) and prevent this as a problem. DO IT ON CONFIGURATION BEFORE YOU PURCHASE, Dell went loopy and included an 80mm case fan, and no spot i can see to add even a 120mm rad/fan, because believe me, i would. Dell had custom AIO made for Liquid Cooling, must likely one of their alienware lineup pumps, modified for a smaller rad. 3) The GPU is a AMD/DELL OEM RX 500 series (Mine is the 580 8GB, not available in the 2018 refreshed model with no dvd drive or spot for one), idk if that'll cause any serious problems compared to say an MSI or ASUS or PowerColor 3rd party Add-in partner, but it could be worth checking out. I've been spending the last year checking all this out, i just don't have the money to DO any testing. What I really want to do is get a different PSU, try and go for an AIO Liquid Cooler, upgrade the RAM (8GB is horribly basic now), and possibly get an NVMe, and get my OS moved there, and maybe use the SATA included (as boot option, they did SATA not NVMe, still better than a spinner) As for @Late to the Show , Yes it can support more than 256GB, having expandable memory capped wouldn't do much good, but Dell themselves have specific option you can have them install, for instance mine has a 256 M.2 SATA ssd as boot, and a 1TB spinner (i believe 7200rpm) for mass storage and games. I would love to move an NVMe for boot, free up the extra lanes the SATA steals, since SATA SSD's steal your available SATA lines, and keep the current spinner, upgrade the spinner to a hybrid, or an ssd.

Hey man! Appreciate the informational video - two questions for you: 1) I mirrored my HDD onto my SSD using Macrium Reflect before I knew this boot order fiasco. When you delete the "windows boot manager" line item in the BIOS, change the boot order, and boot off USB to re-install the OS on the SSD, should I format the SSD first? I still have Windows 10 on it after I mirrored it. 2) How did you go about formatting the original hard drive after? Cause the original hard drive will still have windows on it, right? We just unplugged it in the tutorial. Will it be recognized in the BIOS afterwards? Thank you so much for the tutorial you have helped a lot of people man! I hope you can answer my questions :) Marko

Rt click open menu to run setup wizard, simple format and then it asks how u want to set it up, more than likely u don't want the MBR option go with the other, it will ask u to choose drive letter then click ok for default options the rest of the way. Takes a minute then check the devices and your new drive will show up.

Is there any Info on CPU cooling fan !make /model? It's not a wraith spire as I thought that comes with a Zen 7 1700X in the box,Notice the heat pipes,I'm wondering if this is better for a possible OC to 4ghz

AMD did NOT ship any coolers with the Ryzen 7 series chips in the 1st generation. They had an option, but you had to buy seperately from them anyway, and they considered at least the two top end Ryzen 7 chips (of the 3), the 1700x (my chip) and the 1800x, pure enthusiast, and hence you could buy enthusiast cooling. Dell, I don't want to say juryrigged a cooler they themselves ordered for the socket (likely from cooler master with a base for AM4). They also had custom AIO liquid cooling, probably an older aurora AIO cooler pump, fitted to a rad for the 80mm case fan, unfortunatly i had completed my order before i could remember this, so i got the air cooler. There's very little you can do to OC anyway, they've got the BIOS locked hard, you CAN with some digging do an OC, or use the Ryzen Master utility designed for overclocking, but it won't save when you turn off. I assume that the turbo to 3.8 will work under liquid cooling though. I kinda want to upgrade to Ryzen 2 (NOT Ryzen+ that makes up the current Ryzen 2000 desktop lineup, the 2019 chips will be 3000 series) in 2019. X370 boards should be compatible, though SLIGHTLY, just every so slightly, less at full potential for later chips, but the ZEN+ chips req'd a BIOS update, and then you could slot your new chip right in.

It's almost identical to amd wrath max except the fan is made by Avc. The cooler shipped with 5675 1700x is a very decent model

That’s awesome thanks for the information, it was very detailed. Also thanks for clearing up the limitation on ssd. Dell had told me that on the phone. I talked to a couple other people about that, that are more tech saves than myself, and everyone said what dell told me was not true. Anyways I actually put off installing my ssds until this video came out so thanx. I am going to sub on my other movie review account also, I like this and the video you did talking about different cameras quite a bit. Anyways keep up the good work, thanks.

That's because Dell wants you to use their services. No company would ever recommend you use a 3rd party brand and some companies would even make it so you CAN'T use 3rd party stuff on the computer that YOU PAID FOR. Just build your own

Toxic - In OS u need to format it on disk management and assign a drive. Then clone your hdd or install new os on ssd. after that shutdown and unplug all sata drive and boot, it will boot from ssd. Then I replugged my sata hdd to different sata port than sata0 and formatted it. Dont worry about bios.
