Thanks for the video. I can also get this keyboard at a 30% discounted price on Dell but still hesitate with logitech mx keys but that's twice the price and don't necessarly need the backlight. What are your impressions after a few months of use now? Keys travel are similar to typical 1,5mm ones on laptops or more depth? Is it more confortable? Thanks
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
Sorry for late reply. This Dell Keyboard is still going strong after these months. Everything is still working. To be honest, the multi device switching is not as good as Logitech, just slower to switch, got to be patient. The key travel is deeper than most laptop keyboards and like Dell keyboards they are ok, but definitely not as good as logitech MX keys. Have you considered Logitech K580 or MK470? I recently made a few videos about them. They are not as expensive as the MX, but still having great Logitech features.
@BornIntoThis20
@BornIntoThis20 Год назад
@@SkyPerspective @Sky Perspective Seeing a few bad comments on amazon about the Dell one regarding QC and others I ended up with a used but in perfect condition 10€ Logi MK470 wich I find pretty nice, especially for that price hehe. And then bought an MX Keys also. I find both have a very similar travel key depth as all the laptops I had (thinkpads mostly). I like the MX keys overall for sure apart from the Mac/Win layout of keys wich is confusing. MK470 only has Win keys layout but numpad is a bit too close to the keyboard keys. However for budget I think it's a great option indeed, I've kept it as a backup one. MX Keys should be bought when price is discounted, otherwise it's not really worth the premium price asked for in my opinion.
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
@@BornIntoThis20 Yep, I feel the same with everything you said. Glad MK470 worked out well for you. It's a nice tactile keyboard for typing, albeit not much features. Thanks for sharing your experience which I think others will appreciate knowing.

I have just placed an order for this keyboard. I hope to enjoy it at the office as well. Does the keyboard live up to its expectations the more you are using it? Also, have you considered mechanical keyboards for the typing experience ? Or do you prefer to stick to membrane keyboards like the one you are using . . .
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
So far yes, this keyboard is really rugged and it's working very well, and I am typing with my muscle memory without any typing errors. I have always wanted to venture into Mechanical keyboards but whenever I tried one, like the Logitech Pop Keys, it gives me the feeling that something is off..... maybe it's the key travel distance.... I dont' know. My nephew was telling me how good other types of mechanical keyboards are, and I know there are lots where we can customise the keys and other parts. Should I start venturing into Mechanical keyboards? What's your experience?
@retentio
@retentio Год назад
@@SkyPerspective Thanks for your response. I literally purchased this same keyboard bundle for my office workstation. I am surely enjoying typing on it. I used to use a mechanical keyboard at work previously. The Durgod Taurus K320 which is an amazing keyboard but I was looking for something sleeker with low profile keys. There was a time in my life when I just used mech keyboards for a few years. I have now re-adopted membrane keyboards. I also use an Apple magic keyboard at home with my Mac setup which has a nice scissor type keyboard feel. And yeah, I have good things about Logi's POP lineup. They do however are too coloured for my tastes. The Dell keep is coloured beautifully and looks so professional.
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
@@retentio Yes I think both membrane and mechanical keyboards have their place. If I have the time and mood, I might get a mechanical keyboard and customise the keys and design it to my liking. Don't know where to start though, and don't know which mechanical keyboard brand is good. Thanks for sharing your experience.

Hey guys! I noticed y'all had my same concern (I stay using these two keys!), so I wanted to answer y'all since I saw that nobody else had. Pressing fn + up acts as home, and fn + down acts as end. If you like to use keys to go to the beginning/end of documents, make sure to press fn before ctrl or else it won't work. So, fn + ctrl + up/down. Hope this helps! 😊

Can you connect both keyboard and mouse with the single usb receiver on the back of an external monitor and use them with your laptop OR the single usb receiver has to be connected to the laptop???
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
It depends whether your monitor is a USB-C monitor. For example if your monitor connects to your laptop via USB-C which passes both the video and data signal, then the keyboard & mouse receiver plugged into the monitor will work. This is an example of a USB-C monitor: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M97wwlmamtA.html

Which one would you choose between the hp & the k780 just for sheer typing comfort and feel?
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
I tried using a hp keyboard in my office. I don't like the keys because they are smaller and harder to depress. I didn't take note of the hp keyboard model, different hp keyboards might be different again. Personally, I would definitely choose k780 over hp. Maybe i am bias. K780 is the current keyboard I can type with my muscle memory without looking or even trying to feel.
@HirakSarkar
@HirakSarkar Год назад
@@SkyPerspective I have another Question then. Are K780 and K380 have the same key press comfort/ feel? You've mentioned earlier that the k380 seems claustrophobic to you , its keys are closer than k780. Thats why I just want to know about the feel only. Because I have smaller hands and I might find k380 more suitable for my hand size. I also have desk space issue for a full size K780
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
@@HirakSarkar Yes in terms of key press tactile feeling, K380 and K780 are pretty much the same. They are both great keyboard. K380 is a bit tight and claustrophobic to type on for an entire work day. I don't mind using K380 for an hour of two as a portable keyboard or casual use. If you have smaller hands and smaller desk space, then K380 should be ok for you. Both of them are great keyboards.

Great review. You commented on how the mouse feels a bit cheap and light, that was my concern. Interesting how you compared it to the Logitech Triathlon because this is the mouse I am considering also. Would you rather just buy this keyboard separately and then purchase the Logitech Triathlon mouse, instead of purchasing the Dell keyboard and mouse combo. Thanks
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
Yes we can buy it separately, but what that means is we will need both the Logitech software and Dell software to do customisations. If we buy both Logitech keyboard and mouse like triathlon m720 and Logitech k780 keyboard, we can get lots more combined features like using Logitech flow to automatically switch both Keyboard and mouse automatically across computers. If you were to get Logitech m720 mouse and this Dell keyboard, I suspect you may find switching devices on this Dell keyboard annoying. The reason is because Logitech m720 switches a lot faster.

Hi! Do you think this keyboard is better than Logitech Signature K650? Also, do you think this mouse is better than the Logitech Signature M650?
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
Typing feeling of keyboards is very subjective, but personally, I like the typing feeling of this Dell keyboard more than the K650 keyboard. This dell keyboard is also a lot more compact compared to the K650, and it's easier for me to bring around. In terms of the mice, Logitech M650 Signature is definitely a lot better than this Dell mouse if we purely compare the the basic functionality of a mouse such as button clicks, scroll wheel functionality and horizontal scrolling (yes, M650 has horizontal scroll). However, M650 is not a multi-device mouse. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more specific questions.
@estebanclemente
@estebanclemente Год назад
Thank you for yor answer. I haven't tried them, but I think I also prefer the Dell keyboard and Logitech mouse. Especially for the sleek look of the Dell. I thought the Dell mouse also had horizontal scrolling. I don't really need to bring the keyboard around or use the multi device swapping support. The problem is that you can't buy the Dell keyboard separately and I'm on a tight budget, So I can only choose one combination. Not sure whether to go for the Dell keyboard and mouse or the Logitech Signature keyboard and mouse.
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
A couple of keyboards with similar typing keys to the Dell for you to consider. Microsoft Designer Keyboard, Logitech K780 and K380. They all have their pros and cons though. These keyboards match the M650 mouse pretty well, in my opinion.
@estebanclemente
@estebanclemente Год назад
@@SkyPerspective I've looked at those too, but in Europe they are twice as expensive than the Signature keyboard (except the K380, but doesn't have numpad). I just realize that they sell separately this Dell KB740 keyboard (or the larger version KB700), slightly more expensive (€15-20) than the Logitech Signature K650. I could combine it with the M650, although it means having two dongles and software and loose some of the Logitech K650 extra features. Anyway, do you think it's better overall the Dell keyboard than the Logitech Signature? Probably better combo (Dell KB740 + Logitech M650) than the all Logitech combo (K650 + M650) for office work?
@SkyPerspective
@SkyPerspective Год назад
@@estebanclemente Actually, how can I forget? I think I reviewed too many keyboards. 😁There are these two Logitech keyboards K580 and MK470 that have very similar slim design and size to the Dell KB740. Have a look at them. I have done a couple of videos on them too. How can I forget. Having said that, both these Logitech K580 and MK470 are using the older Logitech USB receivers, and Logitech M650 signature mouse is using the new Logitech Bolt receiver, which means you still need to have two dongles.

Good keyboard and mouse. But it has some limitations: 1. Not all keys can be pressed at once. For example, "L" and "A". If you quick enough, then you will see either "L" or "A". 2. The mouse falls asleep while moving. This did not happen from the beginning, but after about 6 months of usage. May be caused by mouse firmware update. Hope, they will fix it.
