Can you fit ANY PSU in this Optiple 7050 Mini Tower? Or just the one you are using here? Thank you.

You don’t need a screw for that pcie bracket. That’s a self locking latch. You just have to close it to retain the video card. Notice how there’s no thread on it when you kept screwing.

look yes u don't need to screw the bracket but the self locking mechanism isn't that much tighter than the screw locking mechanism

I would advise against bending the PCIE power cables and pins like that by forcing the case to shut on top of it. If the cover doesn't close, there is a reason for that - do not force it. The pins and wires could get too hot at that point and catch fire or melt as seen with recent Nvidia cards. There are adapters on Amazon for this use case where space is an issue. For example: EZDIY-FAB GPU VGA PCIe 8 Pin U Turn. Adapters are available for both 6 and 8 pin PCIE power connectors. Plug and play, simple yet effective. This is a "u turn" adapter that will reorientate the PCIE power socket of the gpu to the other side where there is more space for the psu power cable. Btw, there are original 360W and even 500W Dell power supplies from other Optiplex units that work fine and fit perfectly within the 7040 and 7050MT case without needing to modify the case. I upgraded my original 240W Dell PSU (bronze rating) with a Dell 360W PSU (platinum rating). I prefer this approach versus a normal psu + adapter cable - - - especially after seeing how your new psu exhaust is being covered up by the case for the most part.

I agree, but I want to show something different. That you can install a powerful GPU, an aftermarket PSU, aftermarket cpu fan, not Dell or HP or something else. And about uturn cables yes you can find something better than the one that I used. Thank you for seeing this update.

I got a 7050 myself which I modded. Your upgrades where nice, But if I may I would like to add a few comment’s / ideas. The psu exhaust is blocked for a big part, cut the back out for better flow out the grill and drill some holes in the bottom of the case as intake. For the gpu there are angle plugs that sit snug on the gpu, messing with cables the way you did is not something you should do. A small 80/92 mm fan extra on the front and top can help temps a lot, myself I cut a hole and some inserts for a grill at the top for a extra exhaust. And placed 2 front 92 mm fans for intake gpu and cpu. Just some ideas for this case. 👋

u should of mounted the PSU upside down and cut a hole in the bottom of the case so the Graphics card and psu isnt just blowing hot air into eachother.

More, more difficult, because Dell dont let you do it as simple, have to make direct connections at the motherboard for intrusion sensors that are attached to the case, it is more easier in this way, with the proper connectors.

What is the max temperature the gpu gets? And maybe try to add fans on the bottom right. That would be cool. Just subscribed nice video and very informational.

I've heard the PCIe 3 16x slot on the Optiplex only supplies 35w of power instead of the customary 75w. I don't know much about GPUs - if a card has connectors on if for power (like those in your video), does it draw from the PCIe slot at all?
@PcLaptopUpgrades
@PcLaptopUpgrades Год назад
The GPU that needs more power to work, draws it all from the PSU. It only uses the PCIE slot for connection.

Do you need to remove the motherboard from the case in order to install the cooler ? Also did you need any adapters for the fan connector or some sort of a mounting kit ?
@gabrieltay4724
@gabrieltay4724 2 года назад
I think he removed the motherboard because he had to drill for the power supply to fit and I guess he doesn't want any metal particles settling on the motherboard

arent the PCIE cable 6+2 pins? was the extension cable and cutting them really necessary? the cable for the 4pin went throught the mobo and cpu cooler, cant it just went around the edge of the mobo similar to the previous cable since its long enough?
@PcLaptopUpgrades
@PcLaptopUpgrades Год назад
Good evening. 6+2 pins or 8 pins can be used in PCIE. Yes the cut was necessary. Yes it could go around but it's not a problem the way it went.

@JacknVictor

Not everything is about the cost. If it's worth it to you to do the upgrades then it's worth it. The pc I'm building at the minute is one of these, by the time I've done the upgrades it will only be worth about half what I've paid if I were to sell it. But I'm not going to sell it, I'm going to use it and get my money's worth out of it that way. And most of the parts will be reusable in another system further down the road. It's not all about monetary value. It's about what you get back out of it.

@@euzairhatta cant do psu upgrade too easy with the sff case, if you want get a new case. a new psu. and a 24pin to dell 8 pin power adaptor. then get a new cooler for your cpu. However if you don't wanna do that just get a new gpu and another stick of ram. i recommend the gtx 1650 low profile for your gpu. and just buy matching ram off amazon to what you already have.

@JacknVictor 8 месяцев назад
@PcLaptopUpgrades I don't think they were saying you have done anything wrong and criticising you, I may be wrong but I think they were complimenting you, meaning that they can't believe how much stuff you have fitted in to such a small machine. The meaning of "wrong in so many ways" in reference to your machine basically means that all this stuff shouldn't go together and fit, but it does. Like I say, I could be wrong about their comment, but I think that's what they were trying to convey. Or they may have just thought it was shit but I don't think that is what they meant. I'm building a similar project to this and I am putting a 1660 super in mine. Can I ask, Is it worth putting the 2400mhz ram in to the system if it can only run at the speed of the original memory (2133mhz)
