A man's first trip to microcenter is definitely similar to a religious experience! The magic, the majesty, the deals to be discovered! If you don't live in such a city, what's wrong with you?
Nice video bro. I do the same thing too and typically splice tuck and pinout the wires for the front i/o. Do it cheap as possible lol.. I never used the intrusion connector and never ran into an issue with it. That cooler master case is pretty sweat and the build came out awesome. nice star wars reference lol... Thanks for the shout out!!
NP dude you do awesome work man. I left out a few things, I said EVGA, it was actually a CM PSU but got frustrated towards the end but it is what it is. The adapters are the better option tho man!!!
@@DLMtechgarage so I just took the whole thing out of the 990 plugged it into the motherboard and tucked it the PSU basement. Dude, it’s literally the first time I’ve done a case swap with a Dell which is kinda crazy considering I build one PC a week on average. So in doing my research I saw your video on the adapters and it’s mind boggling that I never knew about them. I originally was going to use a Dell XPS 8100 and it would boot but kept turning off. I’m thinking the PSU was bad, or the mobo, maybe the 550 Watt wasn’t enough with the 780 and all the fans etc??? So I ran to my boys warehouse and grabbed the 990, same issue. Then I figured out what the issue was. Jumping those 2 middle pins is so important!!
@@Tech215Studios yea its crazy how the try to keep us from swapping the case. biggest issue i get when not using the adaptors is the customers complaint of not having the front io but most times they don't care. Im gonna start working on my video series for the HP Z240, 6th gen intel and they are going used on the old ebay for like $80-120 and on the market place a little cheaper. plus the xeons for it are way cheaper then the i7. Gonna do a case swap guide, and mods, just a few tricks to do the swap but should be a good bang for the buck. Im in upstate new york getting a little R&R but when I get back def gonna go hard core with mods and ideas I got stirring!!
hey my man! i am just going to custom pc but right now i got segotap case with 550 watt Enertake PSU, but currently out of budget to get motherboard and GPU Which am going to buy is sapphire rx 580 8gb sapphire nitro edition + in JUNE, my incumbent pc is a vostro 3650 with 16 Gigs ram 500gb hdd with 256 gb ssd and a gtx 950 OC, i can play for a while thing month but what am thinking is to swap my vostro motherboard to my custom build case, will i follow the same steps as u did? awaiting for your humble responce.!! cheers!
yes yes but what do I need to know if I want to put a new mother board and everything in an optiplex case (essentially the opposite of what you did in this video)
@@Tech215Studios im basically trying to build a sleeper out of one of these optiplexs just trying to see if I should know something about the front panel connecters and if ill have some problems with them
Jesus I’m sorry for not replying. I did a video on case swapping an Optiplex into a Cooler Master case. I forget the name of that case but it’s great. I’d just make sure it was a micro ATX case so there isn’t room left over at the bottom. It just looks nicer. But you could also get a full sized case in case you ever want to upgrade to a full sized board.
Thanks for the video! I'm a fan of the case you chose for the swap, good job! Is it possible for an gradual analog fade from color to color on the case fans rather and instant change?
Thanks Uncle M - I'm not sure. I used a mix of 120 and 140 ML Up Here fans, which to be honest suck. I think for the cheapo fans, Asia Horse is the best. I took out the ARGB fans the case came with and used them in another build. Check out the Asia Horse FS-9001's, they are pretty sweet!
Did Precisely what you have done here. Although yours looks so much better. Anyway, after jumping the two middle pins with hdd led and using pwr swt on the 2 end pins , I still received failure error. In addition to that my system will not boot, after running the diagnostic in the bios menu everything passes except the cables to the front panel i/o witch I plugged in the header but snipped off the cables I could really use some advice , anything is appreciated. Cheers!
Your awesome!! DLM tech garage sent me here I bought the motherboard for an optiplex will have to buy all the sensors? I already have the CPU and cooler
That's my dude!!! Thank You Man! Join my discord so you can show off your new build. Shoot me an email at Tech215Studios@gmail.com and i'll send you an invite.
Hey dude!!! So for that build I used 2 Up Here! Green LED 140’s and the other 3 were a set of Up Here! 120’s that came with a controller. Honestly - if you’re putting an OEM into a new case your best bet is to buy the 2 pack of 4-1 PWM Fan splitters or buy a set that has a controller with it. I just put out a video about a month ago and I used a 5 pack of Asia Horse 9002’s - they’re Def my favorite option for budget fans right now!!!
Can i case swap the newer model optiplex like the 3070 as front connectors is already available on the motherboard? Please help if it is possible to do or not worth it Currently have the 3070 model + Gtx 1060 + extra psu to power gpu
Hey man!! Yes, you definitely can but you will need to order the PSU Adapter if you’re putting in a new power supply. I did one for a friend that was a 6th Gen i7 and had no issues. I hope this helps!
hey man nice video, is there any other way to ged rid of the error messages on startup because i threw all those cables in the bin and i always have to press f1 to continue into windows.
Hey man Thanks!!! What error are you getting at start up? I forgot to mention the rear exhaust fan, but do you have that hooked up to the board? Let me know everything that is on the start up screen. It is kind of annoying.
Definitely a long shot asking here but where do the 3 pin fans from the new case go? I’m ok with leaving the old case fan behind but I’m not sure where to connect my 2 fans from the new case. Any help is appreciated!
@@Tech215Studios If I was to purchase a fan hub, which one did you use? Where did you plug it in on the motherboard? Im a PC noob with all this, thanks for the help!
Killer! Is there anything in the intrusion sensor other than a switch? Wondering if I could just splice those 2 leads or jump the header to clean it up a bit
I didn't try any of that. Maybe if you get a 2 pin header it might work, but if the switch has an up and a down position there has to be some sort of relay going back and forth so I'm not 100% sure. But the cool part is you can literally tape it down and hide it. It's really small so it'll fit in a lot of places, the PSU basement is a godsend for that kind of thing. Hey Ant, thanks for supporting the channel and being a subscriber, your support means the world my dude!! Thank You!!
it's just a switch.... switches work on or off..making contact or open contact to work... a voltmeter will tell you if it is NC (Normally Closed ) or NO ( Normally Open ) when you push it In...It must be Closed as that is what the jumper pin does when used.... so just cutting the wires and soldering them or twisting and securing them would work...a jumper pin would be the easiest solution... old hard drives have those jumpers... i usually saved extra ones with my screws...
Hey Dan!! Sorry for the delayed response. Yes, that will work just fine. In the video I used the HDD plugs to jump those pins but either method will be successful. Thanks for dropping a comment Dan!!!
@@Tech215Studios Yo late reply again, i was about to order a Deepcool Matrexx 55 mesh but i wanted to ask you that can power + and - be used to jump those 2 pins Also my Optiplex 990 will fit there right
@@danplayz5573 Yes. Any Sort of Pin or Jumper can be used. How'd the build turn out. Sorry for the delayed response. I need to turn on my notifications or something.
Hey Aizu!!! So I forgot to mention this in the video and I should have. Just bring the fan over from the Optiplex case, plug it into the motherboard and find a place to mount it in the case. That should get rid of the error.
