Dell U2414H computer monitor ghost/flicker problem

Like the title said, I have this monitor for several years and have it into my storage for several months bacause of the issue. I am just troubleshooting it when I have spare time. I was thinking it was the the SW5099 DC-DC IC that was needed to be changed luckily I never ordered it for its about 9 dollars and thats a huge amount here in the Philippines.

Well, I don't know why and how it works, but I removed the mentioned 5 resistors and rescued my Dell S2415H. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Also, just a correction, in the in-video closed-caption it says remove 2-7 (i.e. 5 resistors), where as it should be 3-7 (i.e. 5 resistors).

This works for my Dell P2417H! Thank you Jeff! Yea, just need to remove 2 resistors on the top and 3 on the bottom (5 in total)

No idea at all how this works but I tried it on a broken Dell U2417H that was flickering pretty badly and showing these green/purple horizontal lines. Glad I did because now it works just fine!

I got the same problem with my U2417H but the amount and position of the transistors are a bit different than your U2414H. So which transistors should I remove?

This solution worked almost for me, 5 dead pixel lines on top i got, may be due to my rough hand :), usable state only. Thanks for the solution.

Holy Sh*t, this works. Mine flicker is a lot worse but after remove that 5 resistors, it just works.

When it did, it worked exactly that. But after 3 months of use the same error came back. Is there a solution for this again?

matter of trial and error bro, you can try the other parts but make sure not to loose them so you can bring them back if needed cheers!

this what happen to my AOC 34" but when I power on my PC the monitor works fine, its just after I shut down my PC after 3-4 minuter the Monitor Will begin to power on and off only showing the AOC logo, but I don't know anything about Resistors , capacitors, Ect. also I just bought it couple months ago maybe since it's still under warranty I could just have then Replace it. if you can please answer a question did UR Dell monitor Ghost flicker when you powered on UR PC while being on it, Browsing the internet, gaming, Ect ??? that will help me out a lot but Thank you much there's very few videos on the subject and way much older then UR video.

i got a question, ive got an P2717H and i also have this problem where after some time there is a processing graphics error from the bottom to the top, also with the horizontal lines, im looking forward to fix it, but i cant find the resistors you were removing. Im looking forward for an reply. Grettings Philip

Turn on your monitor for 1 minutes turn if off and place fingers on resistor, those really hot are damaged one , you can remove them or replace them. Another way is to check with multimeter on continuity mode, if you hear the beep that is damaged.

Hello, I recently did the same to my dell s2216h. It made some changes in the flickering problem which i have. Now its not flickering anymore. But there are some lines and the display is getting stuck/frozen randomly and will get back to normal after 2-3 secs.

in that casethe rule is its only trial and error. either on the right or left side of the board. as long as you would be able to return the exact parts on their exact location you will have no problem trying.

keep on struggling. just keep on playing. trial and error is the key. just remember where you have removed the parts so you can bring them back with no sweat . dont loose hope.

not quite sure, most probably its the backlight. but once it turned black are you able to see a bit of light at the back? if yes mos probably its the dc-dc IC. further troubleshooting required. thanks.
