Left side or right side, though? I'm used to running mine from the top, and it auto-hides. I also have 7+ taskbar tweaker which allows me to scroll between windows when hovering over the taskbar, among other things. I've become so used to using it at the top all these years, too...
not really I will not be caring about $$$ given this is two 1440p edgeless displays side by side.. good luck finding a gamer no bezel display. sorry TNI isnt even a name in our book other then that company ya not gonna find a 1440p with no bezel let alone a thin one. not having to use a triple head display setup to avoid the bezel in the middle of a dual head gaming/production setup is BIG. only reason its expensive is 1) just came out 2) not many people will be buying this so production demand/supply drives the price up welcome to reality... even samsung only has a 1080p 32:9 and thats the same size height as my 21:9 1440p meaning I'll be losing details cuz of larger pixel size. if a reputable and known company sold edgeless displays people would be buying them like mad...
Hi David, nice review. Are you still using this monitor? What is your take after using it for a while? I'm considering getting one. I suppose a similar monitor with a bit more curve would be nicer, just to avoid moving your head around to see the edges? There's the Phillips 499P9H that ticks that box, but it is using a VA panel, so I'm not so sure about that aspect regarding it. My usage case would be productivity, coding and no gaming at all. Price seems to have come down a bit, it is now possible to get the Dell for around 1350 USD and the Phillips for about 1150 USD (in Europe, probably even cheaper in the US)
Pretty awesome looking monitor! Personally, I'd just prefer to have multiple monitors since it's easier to add/move/remove them from my setup. Packing/moving that 47in monitor must be a hassle lol. I have a 34in wide monitor paired with a 27 in currently and the total cost of that setup was less than $850. Going wide definitely hike the price of a monitor up
It depends, I use FL studio and I bought a LG 29 ultrawide for a bargain of 100 bucks! I wish it was at least 34 you don't know how is like to load 10 plugins in one screen, it gets cluttered super easy
Price wise... yes! But like he said, it's two 27" monitors in one! Dual monitors is starting to become standard in many offices, so this cleans up the look of that.
Nope. I was going to be upgrading my two 24" monitors to 27 but I can get this and not have a bezel in the middle which is great if I decided to do a bit of gaming.
I have the Dell U3417U and the built-in KVM switch is amazing. You can use the keyboard to change input sources from WINDOWS to MAC however you cannot go from MAC to WINDOWS because Dell doesn't make software for MacOS. This means if you press the keys to switch inputs, nothing happens. Have they fixed this on this model?
Was thinking of getting the Alienware AW3418DW based off other reviews but might look into this monitor, also could I get a link to the snowy wallpaper, please.
I bought an ultrawide because my workflow requires me to have about six windows open at once. It looks really cool but I think I'm going to sell it and switch to 2-3 smaller monitors. For focus it's easier to split things up between several monitors rather than having everything on one monitor at once. But that's just me. It is awesome for watching movies though, especially if they're in 21:9 ratio.
@@forloop7713 Going from 1440p to 4K is a massive leap in pixel count compared to going from 1080 to 1440. Technical aspects aside, it might justbe so expensive at the moment that companies don't think enough people will buy it. They need to make a decent profit for it to be worth all the design and manufacturing costs
It is actually 5K. Horizontal resolution defines the segment. 1000 pxls = 1K 2000 = 2K And so on. And before you argue,, when you watch a FullHD movie shot in 21:9 or anamorphic,, do you still call it FullHD/2K or not?
Hi Dave, how is your SMSL amp holding up? Could you do a short video on it? I am considering buy a small amp for my speakers but everything branded is so expensive in Australia. Thanks.
You sold me, it came to the office today and 3 of the other traders on my floor ordered a few after just one look. Great channel great review, as always.
Hi David great review. I'm using Dell's 43 inch 4k monitor. Love it, but not perfect. The 2160 vertical res forces you to tilt your neck up for screen data above eye level. A little straining when developing software all day. The Left and right do not curve so characters on the far left and right can be hard to read if small and cause some strain as well. I was thinking this monitor would be perfect except for the 3800 curve. And as soon as you mentioned it, I was like damn. That's a confirmation. If you could choose a screen curve what would it be? Samsung's 49" is 1800.
Hello David! I noticed you're using the program "Display Fusion". What's your version? I have the latest version and it eats almost 1 GB RAM, CPU load 10-15% What to do how to solve the problem? Thanks in advance!
I'm not sold on this. Currently, you're paying a $1000 premium in comparison to two borderless 27" 2K 60Hz panels. At the very least Dell could have made this a 144Hz panel, or upped the resolution to 7680x2160 - two 4K screens, possible over DisplayPort MST.
I will consider it when it a model goes 5120x1600. After switching to from 34 ultrawide to 38 ultrawide, the extra vertical height is really noticeable. The extra horizontal is very welcome though. I also feel this monitor needs more of a curve.
Where's your SMSL AD18 + KEF Q100 system now? I use the similar setup with Q150 and now deciding to get this monitor or the conventional 43" 16:9 one, can you share some thoughts?
Hello, I have notebook Fujitsu, specification: Intel Core i7 6500U Skylake, 15.6" LED 1920x1080 IPS antireflexní, RAM 8GB DDR4, Intel HD Graphics 520, SSHD 500GB, DVD, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 4.1, FHD webkamera, HDMI, DisplayPort, USB 3.0. Do you think, can I buy this monitor? Will it work? Thank you for the answer.
*_IMPORTANT QUESTION_* : Will this monitor allow me to keep porn on any two-thirds of the monitor, while doing work on the remaining one-third of the monitor?
Hi, I am getting "No HDMI Signal from your device" on this Monitor while using Alienware m17x R3 ( GeForce 980M ). When I am using Dell UltraSharp 49” - U4919DW Monitor then getting this message, but it is working fine when I am using Benq 4k Monitor & Dell Ultrawide 32" Curve Monitor. Kindly assist...
I just ordered one of these a few weeks ago. However, I just found Dell UltraSharp 32 4K USB-C Monitor - U3219Q. I'm wondering if I should cancel my order and get two of the 32" monitors instead. The 32" one has 2160 vertical resolution opposed to 1440 on this one. Please send advice. I am just wanting to maximize productivity for office work.
Hi David - Interesting video. I am struggling to get 2 discrete screens from single laptop on Dell UltraSharp 49 Curved Monitor - U4919DW. Can you please help with the required setup steps. I am referring to what you showed at video stamp at 4:32
Hi there I'm thinking about buying this monitor also. However I do have one question: The PBP mode: Is it always 50% : 50% or can you do alternatives layouts like 2/3 (usb-c) : 1/3 (DP)?
I don't like this thing. For gaming is meh, for movies is meh, it's way too short in vertical res /in ratio to screen size. Productivity? Why the F would I need 3 apps in the same time? 2 is most what you will ever need. Curvature is thing of preference - personally I don't like it, flat for me plse. And ti's still way too expensive. I just don't see target audience for this thing. For now PVA 1440p, 32" with 144hz+ are the sweetspot, and when graphic becomes more powerful, 4k.
This is an ultra-long and ultra-wide screen monitor. I think the distance between my eyes could be wider, well, it would be better to have goat-like eyes, haha, this is indeed a great design.
hi can i take this monitor for my ps4 pro and xbox one x? i read more poeple test this monitors 32:9 for games like the division ghost recon ecc on PC but they say NO for ps4 or xbox why? i don't understand!! the pc transform every game on 32:9? i don t think ubisoft or other transform games only for pc on 32:9...please someone help me i'm so confused thank you for your time
And what about the loss of vertical resolution vs. the 4K tv? Ultra wide is not productive... A productive display would make better use of the room, also above the monitor. Just imagine any arbitray ultra wide display and remember: It could be twice as high, without even wasting space in the room.
They need to make these ultra wide monitors with a bit more vertical space. Tired of the extended 16:9 monitors. 16:9 aspect ratio makes no sense when doing an ultrawide.
Ok, so you got 1/2 of a 60" tv. You could take a 60" tv,and shrink down your windows to half the height, and have 2 of those monitors. And that monitor is only 60hz refresh. I dont get it.
To smoothly go in Picture by Picture from one OS to another do you need extra app like Synergy ? I'm talking about 4:34 where you moved mouse but I don't know if it's still the same OS or two different OS
I would wish to get a 32 Inch ultra wide Monitor but if you want to do RU-vid and Streaming thats not a option right? Couse everyone still uses 16:9 monitors...
Kindly tell the following What distance you keep between your eyes and the Monitor How high is the monitor from you eyes level or is it at eye level is the light above your head or from back wall?
I didn't notice before, but the arm you used to put the monitor on portrait mode is the AmazonBasic Single Monitor Mounting Arm? It can hold the weight of the monitor?
it bugs me that split screen is never in the center of your vision like a 3 monitor setup would be. and 3 panels on this monitor is too small. better to go with 1 34" center monitor, and 2 27" side monitors. WW
The Dell software where you can set the hold shift, is it built into the monitor or is it something you nerd to download to your machine? (I ask because I use a work pc that doesn't allow any installs)
Hey David, great review as always. I am curious how you balance the sheer size of this monitor with your audio setup (nice amp). I too feel my Acer X34 is a tad small for my work, and I’ve been thinking about grabbing a 43” super ultra wide for productivity and using the x34 for gaming. 49” seems to push my reference grade speakers too far apart for maintaining near field quality.
for all who wants the link for the snowy mountain wallpaper: here it is : www.pexels.com/photo/landscape-photography-of-mountains-covered-in-snow-691668/
