We unbox Dell's impressive 49" 4K U4919DW (actually 5K), assemble it and connect it to a very old Dell OptiPlex 9020. We were surprised to find the integrated Intel HD4600 video handled this monitor with ease. We then loaded the Dell Display Manager and demonstrate its use and how to customize it

I just received mine two weeks ago and am loving it! Get this beast unless you're a serious gamer needing a higher refresh rate. I use it with 2 computers and had to order a 2nd upstream cable to use the awesome KVM function. Until that arrives, I must use 2 keyboards and 2 mice which is awkward but only a temporary issue. I did find the lifting diagram confusing and lifted it out of the shipping box by the cardboard instead of the styrofoam. Fortunately, that worked OK. Thanks for showing us those 2 extra USB ports on the bottom left which I had overlooked.

Great video - thanks. Dell present on the box as if this monitor had an aggressive curve but in fact it's a mere 3800R and it's the main reason why am not switching my 3 Dell 2515H to two of these 49" (thinking about switching because am tired of constant DisplayLink issues - this time no screen rotation in drivers released in Aug for M1 MacBooks so two vertical became pretty useless and no more desk space for a horizontal setup atm!). Such low curvature might be ok for 38-42 inch but 49 inch I simply would have to shift my body too much for such a wide screen and am not keen on looking at content at high angles even though it's got 178 degrees vision. Another thing (maybe it's a technical limitation) don't understand is since its designed primarily for office productivity at standard refresh rate why aspect ratio 32:9 and not 32:10? Also, probably not that significant for many, bear in mind its 1214mm total width - many office desks are 1200mm so the screen would either sick out a bit or overlap someone else's identical monitor (Samsung made 48.8" within 1200mm width which is very thoughtful) . I'll probably wait for another version of this monitor or buy an alternative with 1800R curvature rate although will miss the Dell's features, image sharpness and build quality (have been using them for IT work for the past 15 years and never had any issues so very reluctant to switch brand to alternatives which fails me a couple of times).

Just bought one, can confirm that I wish it was more curved.
@anylookup
@anylookup 3 года назад
@@MattRoszak I got one too and thought it would be too flat but am nicely surprised how good it is / does the job for me. I'm using it as my native external display on MacBook Air M1 2020 via provided by Dell USB-C cable that does video and charges my laptop at the same time. Apart from it have 3 x Dell U2515H connected using DisplayLink driver in combination with StarTech USB 3.0 to DP hardware all three connected via single 10IN1 USB-C hub. I managed to use my laptop in clamshell mode with Amphetamine that does the trick (external Apple keyboard and mouse connected to it). Things still missing: Touch ID because my Mac's lid is closed (hoping Apple will release an external keyboard with one, obviously build-in camera although planning on getting a Logitech external one instead), already have a Logitech external microphone connected via USB 3.0 hub as built in didn't work in clamshell. So far very happy with my setup, how responsive and finally quiet / no fans!!!!

It turns from the base. You have to place it on a table, under the base you would see a circular rubber thing, which grips onto the table.

@anylookup
@anylookup 3 года назад
I've connected my MBP via HDMI 1.4 to a similar resolution LG TV and there was a significant lag at 5K thus unusable. Apparently, HDMI version 2 will overcome this issue but for now people confirmed DP is working really well and no lags occur so don't return your monitor as some people did before you try it.

A very useful video, thank you. If possible could you demo how to set this up with a laptop connected in addition to a PC? I have my PC working fine and connecte3d it with DP, HDMI & USB3 upstream and put my keyboard/mouse USB wireless device into the monitor. everything works fine. I have now connected my laptop via the second USB upstream and an HDMI to HDMI lead. With the menu, I manage to view both screens (split on my monitor) and swap them successfully, however..... I can only operate the laptop with the keyboard/mouse???? which is the one I use for the PC. I can only use the laptop. the screen image for the PC is static and can't operate until I disconnect the laptop; then it resumes as before. P.S. I don't have anything USB C. Can you help as I imaging many other users have some connection issues and no one else is covering it. many thanks. Alan

Need support for using this monitor: When i play Resident Evil 4 (Remastered version UHD-4K) PC game at FULL SCREEN, it cut 20% from top and 20% bottom of the game actual image/picture at 5120x1440 pixel 32:9 aspect ratio. If i want to see full image of game, i must change video settings from the game to 2560x1440 pixel and 16:9 aspect ratio. What is the problem? Do i must change settings of monitor to see FULL image on screen for Resident Evil 4 PC game. At this moment i have LG 32" nano IPS 4K monitor and i see the game FULL SCREEN at 3840x2106 pixel 16:9 aspect ratio. Please help me to solve this issue.

@@URTechDotCa Thanks. I have a USB hub that has multiple monitors right now and whenever I would disconnect my one laptop, the only one connected to it, all the windows I laid out would disappear after disconnecting and reconnecting or even if I put the laptop to sleep. I had to buy a piece of software called DisplayFusion which would keep track and not allow that to happen. Now that I am moving to a single monitor and multiple computers on one monitor I was curious how it worked.

@robertknowles3677
@robertknowles3677 3 года назад
@@simonweiguny It's not fixed. It just rest on the top edge of the monitor. I cannot show a photo here so you would have to check the Logitech website or youtube videos showing how it installs. I just checked it and do not see a way that it actually "clips". Instead it rests against the top bevel of the monitor and there is a back piece to it that can be moved on different angles and give it back support. I guess the main point is to know that the monitor is not too thick that you cannot install the Brio onto it. It works really well.

In this day and age no HDR support is a sin. Especially for the price that Dell wants for this model. That’s too bad as the monitor looks really nice. If you want swivel just buy a lazy susan stand. Problem solved. Thanks for the video.

@11:23 you said it only refreshes at 60 frames per MINUTE. You paid too much for it, if it takes one second to refresh. I think you will find it should be 60 frames per SECOND. Which some people loosely equate to 60 Hz 😉
